Melanie quickly came around a corner and smacked into the other, rebounding and stumbling before regaining her senses. "Uh. Excuse me..."
“Do you ever look around corners before you turn or is this a normal occurrence?” Kurai snapped, reeling back a few steps, almost dropping the fox she was carrying as the other ran into her.
“It’s nice to meet you as well.” Mel smiled and scratched behind her own fox’s ears with one hand. “I have nothing going on... well, ever, really.... If you would like to hang out or go to an arcade or just... walk around?”
The nurse frowned, crossing her arms. “I generally watch where I’m going. Unless my pet is missing and I’m trying to find him that is.” Mel did her best to keep an even tone as she spoke, Once she stopped speaking she glanced around for any sight of the marble fox that had run off away from her.
“Well, gee. I’m sorry, I know how hard it is to lose a pet.” It was hard to tell whether her words were genuine or sarcastic. She petted Gizmo as she spoke, frowning. “Did you need a hand looking for it?”
Choosing to ignore the uncertain tone, she nodded. “If you don’t mind. I’m looking for a marble fox. His name is Tasslehoff…” Mel chuckled nervously, hoping the other wouldn’t know the origin of this name. “Anyway… he went somewhere in the direction you were coming from…”
“Well, let’s go find him then.” Kurai scrunched up her nose a little. “I know how tricky foxes can be.” She gestured to the fox she was holding, who yipped in reply. “This one has run off more times than I care to count.”
Nodding, she started off toward the direction she had seen him go. “I’m new to the whole owning a fox thing… I’m still getting used to him and he knows it.” Chucking, she pointed to a tree. “He’s there…”
Waking beside her, Kurai nodded slowly. She stopped quickly as she stared over at the tree, holding Gizmo firmly to stop him wriggling away. “Foxes can be a real pain sometimes.” She muttered.
Mel quickened her pace and made her way over to Tasslehoff, catching the fox off guard and picking him up in one swift motion. She cradled him to her chest as he tried desperately to wriggle out of her grip. “Thanks for helping me... I’m Melanie, by the way.”

Melanie had gone to Alex's house and been informed that he was not there so she went out to find him. She had found something in the woods that he might like, in her opinion, and perked up when she finally saw the other in the distance. She jogged over and grinned. "Hey, Alex."
Alex figured he’d be able to be alone for once in his life, deep in the woods but of course that was just wishful thinking. At least it was Mel though rather than someone he couldn’t stand at all.
“Hey, Mel.” He muttered, not even bothering to try and sound enthused at all.
“Maybe…” Shrugging, she glanced away. “Would he really hunt you down just to be a dick?” Mel kept her gaze on the ground rather than looking at him again.
At her reaction, he sighed. “If I don’t find anywhere else to stay, then I’ll take you up on that offer. And yeah, I wouldn’t really put it passed him. Just because he finally kicked me out, I don’t think that means he’s completely over me. He’ll probably regret it and try to make amends sometime which I’d prefer to avoid having to deal with.”
She smiled very slightly and nodded once. “Alright. And I didn’t really think he would do something like that but of course... you know him better than I do...” Mel chuckled softly and shrugged before perking up slightly. “Oh! Want to come to my house for a bit and meet my new pet?”

Oh. He didn’t seem like he wanted to chat… She was a bit excited though, so she held out her hand that contained a stone that was roughly shaped like a fox head. “I found this and thought you might like it…”
He glanced at the rock before biting into his lip slightly. “I would if I had anywhere to put it.”
A concerned expression appeared immediately once he finished speaking. “…wait… do you mean that you don’t live with Tim any more? Is that why he seemed so agitated when I asked about you…”
“Probably. He finally got fed up with and kicked me out so right now I’m just living out here.”
“I have… ah, a spare bedroom,” Mel replied, a bit softer than she normally spoke. “You could stay there… if you want?” The end of the sentence formed a question. She wasn’t sure why this was such a big deal to her but helping out seemed like the right thing to do.
“I would, but don’t you think living with an ex is a bit of a bad idea. Besides, your place would be too obvious so Tim would probably be able to find me and be a dick or something.”
“Maybe...” Shrugging, she glanced away. “Would he really hunt you down just to be a dick?” Mel kept her gaze on the ground rather than looking at him again.

And I’m not intending to come back.” “You… are dying?” “Did you drink the whole bottle while tripping? Seriously?” “Do you have a deathwish or something? Jesus!” “Ever been held at gunpoint? Want to know what it feels like?” “Stop screaming! Shh, calm down! You have to keep quiet!” “When’s the last time you slept?”.
