Why movement instead of fitness?
I prefer the term ‘movement’ over ‘fitness’ because it portrays a more inclusive and accessible approach to physical activity. Unlike viewing exercise as a means to an end, such as weight loss or muscle gain, reframing our perspective on movement allows us to find inherent value in the activity itself. When we shift the focus from future achievements to the current experience, we can be less fixated on whether we achieve future results and more able to enjoy the present moment. Of course It’s still valid to have fitness goals, but accessible and enjoyable movement is fundamental! Start where you are and then build from there! Personally, when I am experiencing low energy, chronic pain, or other difficulties, it can be much more frustrating to think I won’t be able to achieve my goals, just because of having a hard day. The experience can still be redeemable if I ask myself, ‘what can I do’ or ‘what do I need’ in the moment. Do you relate?
