So you know that some people are non-binary â but do you know that these common (and harmful) myths about them are false?

Watch: Nike features badass trans duathlete Chris Mosier in its new ad
Yaaaas đ
Thank you to Nike for featuring Chris Mosier, the first trans man to compete in a national US menâs team. http://ow.ly/51cK30370gs #translivesmatter
More US high schoolers than ever before are identifying as gay, lesbian or bisexual â an estimated 1.3 million or 8% of the student population.
But a new study by the US Centers for Disease Controls and Prevention (CDC) has found that such openness comes with a slew of problems. These students are at higher risk of suicide, bullying, rape and other kinds of violence,
Across the country, some 15,600 students ages 14 to 17 took the survey which did not include questions about gender identity.
Among the troubling findings were that LGB students were three times more likely than straight students to have been raped and at least a third had been bullied on school property.Â
Also, they were twice as likely as their straight peers to have been threatened or injured with a weapon on school property.
Even worse is more than 40% of those LGB students have seriously considered suicide and 29% had attempted to do so in the previous year.
âI found the numbers heartbreaking,â said Dr. Jonathan Mermin tells The New York Times, a senior official at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which includes a division that administered the survey.
The report also shows how sexually fluid the students feel with 3.2% ânot sureâ when it comes to their sexual identity.
Of the students who said they had only same-sex or opposite sex sexual contact, only 25% identified as heterosexual and 13.6% werenât sure of their sexual identity.
And then there was this: 2.8% of the students who had only had sexual contact with the opposite sex still described themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual.Â
Wear what you like. Do what you like. Love who you love.
Keep being you. Youâre the only one weâve got. Thatâs important.
Of course your identity is real, youâre here arenât you?
Weâve always existed, why would we stop now? We have to keep existing. (It proves them wrong).
âPeople canât be agender or genderless!â
fact: all agender/genderless people are celestial beings gracing the world with their presence, and are 100% better than people who claim they arenât real
I hope every nonbinary person is having a good day today. and if theyâre not, I really hope it gets better
Fact #387: Wearing or not wearing make-up does not invalidate your gender. Your gender is always real, no matter how you present.
To pre-T trans guys:
You are strong. You are just as strong as your brothers on T.
You will get there. Your heart is a raging fire and you will rebuild yourself if you fall. You are the toughest men I know.
no matter who you are, you deserve to have your pronouns respected.
Shoutout
to LGBT+ kids with chronic illnesses to LGBT+ kids with mental illnesses to LGBT+ kids with disabilities to LGBT+ kids with learning disabilities
youâre all strong, beautiful, amazing people and I love you all
I'm sorry but on your abc lgbtq terms, sexualities, and genders, I think the definition for Bisexuality is mostly right but wrong as well because Bi- does mean two it is the Latin root word meaning two and I don't think you can change what the root word means. But I agree with everything else & thank you for the post it does help
No problem, I think that word itself bisexual can be used by people who feel differently but use the same lable.
You know whos important as fuck? Non binary people. All of em. Every last one. NB people who present as androgynous. NB people who present as feminine. NB people who present as masculine. NB that struggle with dysphoria but arenât quite sure how to fix it. NB people that get made fun of for using ze or xe pronouns becase they âarenât real.â NB people who are constantly told they pronouns are grammatically incorrect. NB people who get told they arent non binary enough for using she or he pronouns. NB people who are constantly accused of making up their gender to be a âspecial snowflake.â Youâre not a special snowflake. But you are fuckin special. And you also kick ass. All you peeps are great. Keep doing you and keep kicking gender rolesâ ass while doing it.
homeless resources for lgbt teens
okay a lot of this is going to be us centered so if you dont live in the us please let us know and we can try to find you some other resources!
so first off, if youre unsafe you need to leave if possible. you do have options here. you can stay with your parents if you really cant do anything else, you can move in with an (older?) friend, you can move to a group home with your parents permission (possibly not viable in this situation), you can stay at shelters / live on the streets / in your car.
this is the us national runaway website. you can call, chat, email, etc. i just looked and it doesnt say anything about lgbt situations so stay on the safe side and do NOT tell them youâre gay. lie your ass off and make up a story about why you were abused, maybe they found out about a boyfriend or something.
this is the national safe place, follow the instructions in the link for immediate help and the number and location of the nearest safe place. i took a look and they seem lgbt friendly but again, err on the safe side and LIE if possible.
the national child abuse hotline is 1-800-4-A-CHILD, call if you can and LIE again
here is the trevor projectâs list of homeless resources near you. i also recommend calling them, as they have expertise in lgbt runaways / homelessness.
this site can help you find lgbt housing resources as well, im pretty sure they have resources worldwide. check out this one as well.
look at this post for lgb housing resources (sorry about the q slur in the post)
if youre trans check out transhousingnetwork for housing options.
look at this page as well, its on nonbinary-support but it has good tips. also look at this post they made
dont just leave without preparation, not a good idea. if possible, leave during early spring so you have the whole spring + summer to find somewhere and get situated. if you have time, steal money from your parents, really little amounts at a time so they dont notice, and store it somewhere they wont find. if possible, transfer all your money to a private bank account that only you can access. if not, withdraw all your money when youâre about to leave and take it as cash.
if you have a car and can legally drive use your best judgement on taking it or not. it can help a lot but it also can be tracked by your license plate.
refer here and refer here for what to pack your bag with.
my advice, if you end up completely homeless, is to spend the day at the library. 90% of the time there will be one near you thats open for hours.
let me emphasize again to not tell anybody youre gay esp if youre also trans or a woc.
please add on if you have anything else to add or any other resources (check the links before telling us about a resource, as its possible we already have it), especially if youve been homeless before. we are also currently setting up a homeless / runaway resource page for wlw, so please please tell us if you have anything! i really hope this helps.
please reblog so people see this
just a quick note in case i have any gross terfs following me
any post i make about how much i love girls or how much respect i have for girls or anything at all to do with girls - it absolutely always includes trans girls. thereâs no reason why it wouldnât. i donât want my posts on your disgusting blogs so if you see the word âgirlsâ and donât assume trans girls fit into that term, please get the fuck away from me and the entire earth. thanks.
What is a demiboy?
I believe that demiboy are people who identify (in hypothetical math terms to make it easier) maybe 75% male and 25% female.
-Kayden
Or someone who feels part boy and part not boy (girl,nb, agender ect)
There is no wrong way to be nonbinary.
You found this awesome name you like and want it for yourself? Make it yours! You like your birth name and want to keep it? Awesome!
You want to stick with the pronouns youâre used to? Great! You think you will be happier if you change pronouns? Go for it!
You want to wear that outfit, that makeup, that nail polish? Put it on!
You want to use hormones or surgery in your transition? Thatâs a totally valid choice. You donât want hormones or surgeries? Also a valid choice, and one that doesnât mean youâre any less trans.
Youâre considering a different or additional label for your gender or sexuality? Try it out, see how it fits.
There is no rule book or dress code you must follow to be a ârealâ nonbinary person. You are nonbinary enough.
