Alternate Platform to Replace Tumblr
Even if Tumblr does not nuke me I will now be managing two websites. Consider www.NibbleBit.com (that is a weblink to their webpage) as an alternate platform to utilize for your website. They advertize that they are adult and gay friendly. – Samual Blake

Tumblr Inquisition
When did freedom of expression suddenly become an online crime? When did an attack on a specific subset of any group ever work to the benefit of any institution?
In this bloggers humble opinion, Tumblr’s December 17th forced genocide of Adult Content blogs is just another example of how our society is slipping backwards in its level of tolerance towards anything that is different, preferring to have this type of content hidden away, and marked with a scarlet letter of intolerance and shame.
Are there issues revolving around certain types of blogs Yes. Child pornography and other unacceptably content is abhorrent to all. Is Tumblr going after those specific types of blogs? No. Are they setting up a system that blocks minors from accessing adult content blogs? No. They are preferring to follow a simplistic “nuke it all” approach rather than address the overall problem. Taking a M.A.D (mutually assured destruction) approach, can only end in one way, for without adult content, Tumblr will die off.
So my friends and followers(93k amazing individuals), I challenge you to reblog this note, and challenge Tumblr’s decision. Perhaps, if enough of us stand up and protest some good will come of it. Resist, and fight the good, and honourable, fight.

Tumblr announced Monday that it will ban adult content after December 17.
Good article
Also, FUCK APPLE
I read the title and thought this was gone brush past a lot of details to just pile on apple, but it really surprised me by being a really concise and complete take on both the current 12/17 porn ban situation and Apples negative influence on the net
I been on that “Fuck Apple” shit for damn near 10 years now

My post of an antique star map from 1822 was just flagged by tumblr as “sensitive content,” presumably because it shows a line drawing of a centaur without a shirt on. It is Sagittarius.
Hey, Tumblr
In case you’re not aware, Tumblr has recently announced that on the seventeenth of December they’ll start purging all porn and porn-adjacent content on Tumblr. Why does that matter to LWU, you ask? Well, they’re using their bots to identify it, and we’ve all seen how well THAT works. One of my Wander posts even got flagged as sensitive for no apparent reason. What I want to do is reassure you all that I’ve taken steps to back up all of the content on LWU to my hard drive using a tool I was recommended a couple weeks ago. I’m going to continue to do so on a regular basis just in case, so there’s very little chance that my stuff will be lost.
I’m using this one! It condensed my entire blog as of November 20th into one 4.36 gigabyte folder.
Any notes on how to use it? I can’t figure it out.
Okay, so here’s how to do this.
First off, go here and make sure you have Python installed. For Windows it should be the very bottom link, the x86 MSI Installer. You don’t have to do anything but install it.
Second, go here, and click “Clone or Download” (the green button on the right). Select “Download ZIP”.
Make sure you have WinRAR or 7zip or something installed that lets you extract zip files.
Next, make a folder on your desktop. I named mine “Tumblr Backup”, and in the following instructions I’m going to assume that’s what you’ve named yours as well; replace “Tumblr Backup” with whatever you name yours if it isn’t.
Drop the zip file you downloaded into Tumblr Backup. Go in and extract it; this should create a folder called “tumblr-utils-master“.
Open your Command Prompt. If you don’t know how to find that, click your start menu button and type “CMD”, which should give you this:
That should open this:
That frog over there is blotting out my profile name on my computer. Whatever your profile name is when you sign in (e.g. “Max” or “Snugglebuns” or “froglord69”) is going to be in that spot on the address path. If it instead says something about Windows and System 32, that’s okay, what I’m gonna tell you to do will go to the right place either way.
Next, input this command–keeping in mind that the parts in bold should be changed based on your profile name and what you named the folder on your desktop:
CD C:\Users\froglord69\Desktop\Tumblr Backup\tumblr-utils-master
There! Now you’re in the right folder! Next, enter this command, replacing the bolded bit with your own blog name:
tumblr_backup.py yourblogname
You should see this:
Then just…let it run! It took less than five minutes for my computer, though it will vary by processor and connection. Once it’s done, you’ll have something like this:
That “index” opens in an internet browser. It’s basically a webpage stored directly on your computer. Some pics of mine:
So…not pretty, but it’ll save the content of your posts. Hope this helps!
So I guess we need a new home.
As most of you have probably heard by now, this site will no longer be allowing “adult content” starting Dec 17. Though they’re taking pains to make it sound as though they can do this without evicting the queer community as a whole, the history of algorithm & report based efforts of this nature (as well as this site’s history of taking every shortcut they can when it comes to moderation & community management) tells us that this is highly unlikely. Even if this wasn’t true, any space for queer adults that does not allow for 1) sexual expression & 2) sex workers is an incomplete one at best.
To that end, I think it’s important that we begin work immediately on a social network that is created & owned by us & will provide a home & freedom of expression for all of us. If you are 18+ & interested in helping with this effort AND:
Have experience in any relevant areas of web development (full stack, front end, back end, iOS/Android, server management), web design, or project management AND
Have at least 20 hours per week to spend on a project that will initially pay you entirely in equity (all initial team members will have equity stakes in writing) rather than cash AND
Have the self-motivation to work from home under these terms on a project that will almost certainly have its frustrating stages
…then please either DM me here or email me at [email protected] with a summary of your experience, your availability, and a brief statement of why you’d like to be involved in this project. If you’re not in a position to help directly, please boost this post!
More soon,
-Jules
