Infection diagram for my Ashes of the Feywild AU
Ashes of the Feywild takes a post-apocalyptic setting in the feywild 7 years after 2020 (around the same time as COVID), and is based off of Once Upon a Witchlight, dnd campaign by Legends of Avantris on YouTube
The infection is called “Ash Rot”, and it usually takes 48 hours (2 days) to start
Ash colored veins begin forming under the skin
Persistent coughing that leaves ash and sometimes blood
Tips of fingers and hair begin to turn ash-gray
Right before final stage of infection, body temperature suddenly drops drastically
Victim becomes aggressive towards anything that breathes, now can transfer the infection through biting
When dead, body becomes a pile of infected ash that can transfer the infection through breathing it in, smoking it, or eating an animal who has already ingested the ash

Key: White- Survivors. Black- Infected
Zombies run 10-20% slower than the average healthy adult
Zombies can now break down doors, but cannot open them normally
Zombies can no longer climb
Zombies can only see within 20 meters (65 feet and 7.4 inches, pretty standard, maybe eve a little too powerful, but ok…)
Zombie encounters during the day are far less likely to happen unless in a dark, or shady area, they begin coming out at around sunset, and will not go away until the sun has fully risen again
Zombies breathe very loudly, a mix of constant gasping and groaning
#1 rule, DON’T. SMOKE. ANYTHING.
Ygor lab-bred a new drug, then tested it on someone and then the test subject got infected and began biting people. So, basically, Ygor is the cause of the infection.
If bitten, clean the wound immediately and bandage it, in bad cases, you might have to cut the infected tissue off (this is not amputation, it’s like cutting of the top of moldy bread or cutting the brown spots off an apple)
If ash in ingested, it depends on the amount, a small amount can cause mild fever and fatigue, but it usually goes away within a few days (3-4 days, sometimes even 5-7)
A medium to large amount can trigger the full infection within 1-2 days
Also, certain blood relating to fire (like fire genasi, *cough cough, totally not foreshadowing for Gideon* fire elementals, imps, and demons) are immune to the infection. However, in the case of direct threat, they can go temporarily rabid and transfer the infection through biting until thr threat has passed and they feel safe again.
