Hi. Hope you're having a good day. Do you have any advice on overcoming the fear of being mass reported and losing your account. We've seen an influx of people saying to not harrass others, but preach about loving mass reporting. Our fics are not that "taboo". But we still fear that if we try to actually write what we want, we'll be mass reported. We've blocked as many as we could, but more keep showing up. And we don't want to lose all our hard work.

if you post your works on tumblr, or any other social media platforms with censorship then yes, anything could be reported and taken down.
but if your fics are on ao3 then you don’t have to worry about that because mass report is literally not a thing on ao3 — because on ao3, a fic can be reported by one person only. if a fic has already been reported by someone and then someone else tries to report that same fic, the site will literally tell them that “someone else has already reported this fic and the fic is under review, so the new report made by a new person does NOT go through.”
and because being anti censorship and hosting “fics that were reported and banned on other platforms” is literally the main reason why ao3 was created in the first place, no fics that have been reported for being too taboo are ever taken down from ao3.
the only way a reported fic can be taken down is if it actually does violate the site’s terms of service: such as the work section of the fic is not fanwork, the author tries to monetize their fic, the author mentions donation on the notes section, etc. these can all be taken down because they violate the site’s rules, not because they’re taboo.
the most taboo, most disgusting, most morally messed up fic you can think of is allowed on ao3, because that’s the main reason why ao3 was created in the first place.
fun fact: ao3 literally has a team of lawyers ready to defend artists and their works, including the most taboo ones.
