Whenever I watch this I forget it’s Daniel Radcliffe playing a bunch of other people and not a bunch of other people dressed as Daniel Radcliffe.
That awkward beautiful moment when you remember that actors actually act
he’s still so adorable
I’ll allow it.

The Associated Press, which sets standards for language and terminology in much of the media, decided recently that it won’t generally refer to married same-sex couples as two husbands or two wives, but as partners.
Media blogger Jim Romenesko today published an internal AP memo saying that “husband” or “wife,” in reference to same-sex couples, “may be used in AP stories with attribution,” adding, “Generally AP uses couples or partners to describe people in civil unions or same-sex marriages.” Quickly, an AP spokesman sent Romenesko a revised memo with somewhat more restrictive guidelines, saying, “Such terms may be used in AP content if those involved have regularly used those terms … or in quotes attributed to them,” and repeating, “Generally AP uses couples or partners to describe people in civil unions or same-sex marriages.”
Some are saying this is another example of LGBT people being “separate but equal.” Others don’t care so much. What say you?

This is, without a doubt, my favorite story of the week.
The Westboro Baptist Church, everyone’s favorite hatemongering homophobes, announced recently they would be protesting at “Ivy League whorehouse” Vassar College on February 28. (Vassar isn’t an Ivy League, but no one expects Westboro to fact-check.)
Unwilling to let the news bring them down, Vassar students decided to launch a counter-protest. They vowed to raise $100 for LGBT suicide prevention group The Trevor Project for every minute of Westboro protesting, with a total goal of $4,500.
A full two weeks before the protest has even happened, the fundraiser has topped $50,000. (Donate and check on the updated total here.)
As an added bonus, Buzzfeed compiled some of the best student reactions to the Westboro news, mostly people proclaiming school pride for their Ivy League whorehouse and debating which Satan costume to wear on protest day.
I love you, Vassar. Hats off to you.
