why YES of course, i have near endless thoughts on them but i shall give you what comes to me in this moment!!
obvious but tea person x coffee person moxington my loves!! neither of them can go a day without more than one hot beverage
i also do feel as though this does reflect something deeper about their dynamic, with moxie being the 'lighter' and sweeter drink (she'd take it with sugar and milk) as opposed to black coffee, moxie is so important to ellie because she taught her how to see the good in people after the events of the novel, whereas ellie is so important to moxie because she taught her to accept the darkness of the world, and move forward from spending so much of her life thus far trying to block it out (especially in the case of her mother)
i've written about this but ellington has a reoccuring nightmare about the day her father disappeared and moxie is the only one that can comfort her
adjacently related but i love them bonding over their struggles with their parents - my favorite iteration of moxington is them clashing with each other until they get thrust into some situation that forces them to open up, and they realize they had more in common then they thought
they are SO butchfemme and i love them
moxie will literally follow ellington anywhere, like there are days where ellie just drags her around town running errands
also even after starting to open up, ellie is still very reserved and inwardly focused, she struggles to trust people after finding out about her dad, and moxie is the only person she feels truly comfortable dropping her mask around (they're just so soft together it makes me sick)
they end up living in the lighthouse and cultivating a little herb garden outside, they go on morning strolls along the cliffs and talk about books and thoughts and their hopes and dreams (basically THE cottagecore lesbians except seaside instead of countryside)
once living in the lighthouse, it becomes so inexplicably cluttered with pebbles and flowers and sea glass and such
not within canon but since i like all my characters a lil gender wiggly, i HEAVILY fw transfem ellie x nonbinary moxie
they make a tradition of exchanging letters or bits of poetry, moxie's on her typewritten sheets and ellie's in fountain pen because that girl uses a gramaphone, we all know that she's not stopping there with the vintage everyday objects
(badly) dancing in the kitchen to ella fitzgerald and louis armstrong duets
as much as i love lighthouse lesbians, i hc that they'd eventually move away, probably into the city; sbts just holds too many dark memories for them
ellington admires moxie so deeply for her ability to see the best in people even after everything she's gone through, she won't admit it but without seeing that in moxie, it would've been so much harder for her to move forward from the events of the books
one of them takes up knitting after they start living in the lighthouse together, i can be easily persuaded about which one, or it could be both of them, i love ellington though because imagine her making sweater vests for moxie!!
ellie loves emily dickinson and joyce carol oates, moxie is a charles frazier and f. scott fitzgerald enjoyer ("i see you as you see yourself through all the books you read")
moxie is the sun and ellie is the moon!!
they both love fresh fruit especially plums, idk why this is relevant but it is
museum and indie bookstore and coffee shop and jazz cafe dates!! the formers picked by moxie and the latters picked by ellie but their aesthetics blend together so well i feel
i hc ellie as playing the piano, she returns to it at some point in her healing journey, which for her is an important marker of moving away from living for survival and back into finding joy in her life or whatever
but IMPORTANTLY i have this beautiful image of them in the lighthouse on a cold evening, with a fire in the hearth, ellie playing piano and moxie reading like do you see the vision?
neither of them were truly given a safe home in their parents so they become each others' homes <3
