She rarely came across anyone who brushed off her coldness so easily. It was rather refreshing to not receive a lecture on âbeing nicerâ for once. That didnât mean Teddy couldnât irritate her in other ways, of course. âVery amusing. Just because I donât have a way home yet, doesnât mean I wonât. I assure you, Iâm very resourceful.â Not that she had much to return to, considering the X-Men were here. At times, they seemed her only family, not that they cared much for her (how like her actual family in that respect). But her brother was there. And that meant she could not remain here. âI know lover boy is cuddled up with you here, but surely thereâs someone you miss from home.â Her voice sounded a little too sad for her liking. âFor example, I simply canât find a tailor with anywhere near the skill of dear Mrs. Wilkins back home.â Â
Slightly surprised that she hadnât thrown an insult in his direction he just chalk it up to her being homesick. Something he could relate to, especially the longer they spent in Gotham. âOh, I bet you are. Have you already managed to accumulate the same level of influence that you had back home?â He wondered. Teddy wouldnât be surprised if that was the case. If anyone was going to find a way back home, Emma Frost would be one of the people most likely to find it. Just like any other time when Billy was mentioned, Teddy couldnât help the smile that overcame his features at the mention of the mage. âHonestly, I hadnât really thought about it. I donât have any other family. I suppose I do miss the Kaplanâs for giving me some semblance of a family when I had none.â

GOTHAM was something else. As Billy walked down a main street, he noticed there seemed to be criminals crawling around everywhere. He could tell it would be hard to resist the temptation to slip back into doing anything to get what he wanted. However, the truth so far was that he just wanted to start over here in this city, and he hadnât laid eyes on anyone he knew yet. That was mostly a good thing, but that also meant heâd never be able to find the answers to the questions that haunted him. Heâd have to live with it for now.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he decided to open up a conversation with the person in front of him, âHey, âscuse me. Are you from here?â
Teddy had taken to walking with his headphones on, mostly because he didnât know that many people in the city. Sure he had those he knew from back home, but the likelihood that he would run into them was very slim. Practically zero. This way he could drown out the noise - something he definitely did not miss about being in New York even if he had learned to just ignore it while being back home. He definitely didnât get startled when he heard someone elseâs voice right by his ear. âSorry,â he mumbled as he turned around to face the person whoâd spoken to him. âUh- no. If youâre looking for directions Iâd probably get you even more lost.â

Taking a break from enjoying the pizza a little more than he probably should, Billy looked over at Teddy with an intent gaze to see if he felt the same about the taste as he did. âMm, now that you mention it- I think youâre right.â he spoke and then quickly stuffed his mouth once more, ftaking his time to finish the slice heâd fished onto his plate just a moment earlier. âIâd be down for that. And I mean, any excuse to drop by your work to distract you s worth it.â he raised an eyebrow in a most playful manner, leaning over the table to inch just a little closer. âI do enjoy the thrill of a good russian roulette game, but I feel like weâve been disappointed more than satisfied at this point.â he tapped his fingers on the wooden surface, debating which slice to secure for himself next. âHowâs your day been, by the way? I want to hear about it. Chances are itâs been more interesting than mine.â he finally decided on a slice to take and then lifted his gaze to meet Teddyâs again, his lips forming a warm smile.
It appeared that Teddy had been more hungry than he had originally thought and it was no time before he was finishing up the rest of his first slice of pizza. He always worked up an appetite after a bit of kicking bad guy butt, but that didnât compare to working a normal job. It was absolutely exhausting. His features were fixed into a permanent grin just like any other time he was in Billyâs presence and today was no different. âWatch me get fired for accidentally giving a customer the wrong change or making a mess out of a fruit display because I was too busy watching your every move instead of paying attention to what I was supposed to be doing.â It was a testament to how close the two were that Teddy subconsciously mirrored the otherâs actions and leaned closer as he picked out another slice to add to his plate. âIt could also mean that the odds would be in our favor. With so much disappointment our odds for a better outcome must have grown considerably.â He spoke up around another bite of pizza. Teddy took a moment to consider how his day had gone to see if anything in particular stood out that would be worthy of sharing. It had been a tame day for the most part. âNothing really out of the usual. The usual customers just being dicks, but there was this little old lady that I helped to take her groceries back to her car. Once I had finished loading her car she tried to user me into it as well. I think she must have mistaken me for her grandson or something. Sheâd been so embarrassed, I hope she made it back home in one piece.â A small chuckle slipped passed his lips at the memory before he was turning his attention back to Billy. âWhat about you? Iâm sure you must have gotten up to something interesting while I was gone.âÂ

Bobby let out a shriek of a laugh and ducked to avoid the snowball, his hand filling with another one as he dribbled around the taller male to fling another snowball at him. âCâmon, Abercrombie. Youâre gonna have to do better than that to get the Iceman.â
âItâs so easy to talk a big game when youâre in your literal element.â There was no way he was ever going to win a snowball fight against a literal snowman. Any balls that actually made contact would just become part of him and on top of that he doubted the other would even be able to feel them no matter how hard he flung the snowball. âLeave the snowsuit at the door and then weâll talk.â He taunted as he dodged the next snowball and he worked on pressing more snow together to fling in Bobbyâs direction.

â iâm not actually sure what heâs planning. so there will be no jumping into action anytime soon. and when - if we do. weâll have to call the gcpd. with an operation this big, itâs just unrealistic to go in without back-up of some kind. âÂ

âYou guys have mutants too?â He wondered as he shot her a quick glance though he immediately felt like that had been a stupid question to ask. Really he had no way of knowing how this entire new universe worked and it was foolish to assume they contained the same type of powered folks.Â
He most definitely does not almost groan at the prospect of not being able to get his hands dirty. Not that he was particularly thrilled about the fact that crime was happening right under their noses, but since arriving at Gotham the most action heâd gotten was petty thieves. They seemed trivial compared to someone like this so called Riddler. Though he supposed it same sense for these heroes to need back up from the police if they didnât have the genetic makeup to be able to go into a crowd of bad guys who were gun blazing and be able to tell the story the next day.Â
âRight...so the police is more involved here? Or maybe I should say accepting of those they would consider vigilantes. Back home we just leave them tied up for when they show up lest we end up getting blamed for everything that goes wrong.â

âbilly?â the russian guessed before taking a sip of her beer again as a smirk grew on her face. natasha couldnât pin point the exact last time that she had seen the other but she nodded her head in agreement to his statement, âit has,â not one for small talk but she was willing to give it a go, âwhat have you been up to?â
Teddy nodded his head and gave one last hopeful glance towards the large wooden doors protecting them from the harsh winter air. âHe probably got held up by some bad guy. Or he just got lost.â Given their current circumstances both options were valid enough that it could go either way, but Teddy wasnât worried he had faith that Billy would eventually turn up. âMostly getting to know the city. There really isnât much else to do at the moment. Not like weâre any closer to figuring out a way back home. Unless youâve got any ideas youâd like to share?â He gives her a hopeful look, wishful thinking that she along with the rest of the Avengers would have cooked up a way for them to get back home.

âa lot of people often tell me to wear red,â the red headed mutant commented with a warm smile before nodding her head, âthank you for your help,â jean spoke honestly, grateful for the opinion in her moment of indecisiveness.Â
âMust be something to do with your hair,â he grinned, now seeing how that was quite the possibility. âThough I gotta say that you could pull anything off. So thereâs no need to thank me. Youâd have been fine with either choice.â
xfrostqueenxâ:
âYour optimism is grating, not charming,â she retorted, musing on the fact that her life had somehow come to this, for her to be surrounded continuously by heroic types who had unshakable faith in the moral rightness of the universe. It wasnât like that, at all - she herself was proof of the universeâs twisted, darker nature. But unlike most of the optimistic dolts who surrounded her, Theodore seemed mostly unaware of that and looked at her with friendliness, not barely concealed distrust and resentment. âI donât intend on staying here for long enough to revise my judgement. Itâs a horrible city and weâll all be well shot of it.â Of course, these were idle words. Emma knew her strengths, and the truth was that she simply wasnât even a player when it came to manipulating the multi-verse. Her talents (though impressive by any other standard) were rather useless in this situation.
As if his cheery nature could ever be deterred by her comments on the contrary his smile only seemed to grow tenfold. While he agreed that Gotham wasnât the best city to be living in, Teddy was well aware of Emmaâs powers and even if they had been back home where they all had access to their usual amount of power he knew that manipulating the multi-verse was not one of her skill sets. He would probably end up paying for it later, but he couldnât stop himself from calling her out on it. âWell I hope youâll make room for me in that hot air balloon of yours. It seems to me like youâre the only one with a ticket to back home.âÂ

Billy stood his ground for a few moments, simply enjoying the delicious scent emanating from the box on the table. It didnât help that heâd practically not eaten anything for most of the day, so his mouth was watering at the prospect of getting something finally. Snapping out of it, he turned to look at Teddy with a wide grin on his face still. âThatâs nice. Thisâll be an adventure then.â he said while opening up the box to reveal the goods. His lips pursed up as he was thoroughly scanning the pizza, ending up with a slow nod of approval. âItâs definitely special. This city really has weird tastes in pizza, but well, so does New York.â he hauled a slice for himself onto the plate he was handed. âI donât really mind an odd mix of vegetables and cheeses. Is that pork or beef though?â he lifted the slice to his lips to take a bite and find out for himself, sensing a smile form on his lips once more as he was chewing. âOh this is good. I canât put my finger on what it is, but something definitely makes this work.â he lit up, immediately taking a second bite with a satisfied grin.
Teddyâs smile only seemed to grow in size as he silently watched as Billy took the first bite of his pizza. Taking the otherâs eagerness after his first bite, he wasted no more time and grabbed a slice for himself. Before digging in properly he inspected the aforementioned meat and with careful fingers he plucked a piece off of his slice and popped it into his mouth. If he was going to figure out what it was heâd have to taste it all on its own. âIâm pretty sure this is beef.â A thoughtful look graced his features as he swallowed. Satisfied with himself for having figured out what the mysterious meat on their pizza is, he finally takes a bite of the pizza. The wait had been worth it and no matter how much he enjoys it that doesnât stop him from mentally berating himself for forgetting to make sure that the pizza was kosher. âWeâll have to crash their lunch hour sometime. Theyâve got a buffet and that would be the perfect opportunity for us to sample all their different pizzas. Or we could just continue playing Russian roulette.â He said around another bite of his slice.
kcplansâ:
To think that this is what their life had come to as of late. Finding themselves in a completely foreign place, Billy had spent the first few weeks, trying to find a way home for them, but it seemed impossible, no matter how hard heâd tried. It wasnât all bad though, considering he wasnât alone. Having tired his best to keep it together and keep a semblance of normalcy, he was beyond grateful to have had had Teddy by his side, so his eyebrows immediately perked up when he heard him enter the place. He got up from his seat on their bed and basically stumbled over his feet to go and greet him. âIâll eat anything as long as itâs not the same place as last time.â he assured with a smile spreading on his lips. âAnd welcome home.â he snuck a hand around the blondeâs waist and pressed a quick peck to his cheek as an additional welcome back before snubbing the pizza box from his hand, heading straight to the table to place it. âIt smells nice. Iâm starving here.â
His lips spread into a smile as he leaned down slightly to accept the otherâs kiss. With the pizza now out of his grasp he was able to take his jacket off with more ease and he hung it in the closet so it would be easily accessible the next time he had to go back outside. âNah, itâs not the same place as last time. I learned my lesson. This one is from around the corner from the grocery store.â With Billy heading towards the table he turned to grab a couple of plates and sodas from the fridge before joining him at the table. âIâm not exactly sure what they gave us, though. I asked them for their specialty pizza, but I donât know what that is. Hopefully my feeling adventurous wonât end up biting us in the ass this time.â Teddy definitely had to agree that it smelled amazing. His mouth had practically watered the whole walk back to the apartment, but heâd managed to keep himself from peeking inside the box. How he had managed that he had no idea, but heâd pulled through. âSo whatâs the verdict?â He asked, passing him his plate so that they could dig in.
Turning up in Gotham had been both a blessing and a curse. He missed everything about New York, but exploring and discovering everything that Gotham had to offer had made the change all worth it. Heâd especially loved that being in a new city meant that he and Billy had to go out and find a bunch of new restaurants that they enjoyed eating at. Ordering takeout was like playing Russian Roulette - you never knew if you were going to end up enjoying it or not. It was a safe form of excitement and thatâs exactly what heâd told himself when heâd gone around the corner from the grocery store heâd picked up a job at and ordered their specialty pizza. Without even peering inside of the box heâd thought that it would be a fun surprise to share with Billy. Teddy just hoped that he wouldnât regret it when they opened the box at home. âI hope you havenât had dinner yet. I brought pizza.â He called out once heâd walked through their front door and worked on getting out of his jacket while balancing the pizza in one hand. @kcplans

the russian had never been a patience person or one that would take a while to formulate a plan. she had always been a more take action kind of person. but even natasha needed a break from all the drama, which found her cradling a beer in a seedy bar within the city. âare you going to drink something or just sit there all night?â natasha had noticed the other previously but had decided only now to speak.
With no idea how long it would take them to get back home Teddy had taken it upon himself to find a temporary job at a grocery store. Temporary until he could find something else that best suited his skills, but they needed money to afford an apartment so the grocery clerk job would have to do for now. Heâd been out interviewing for a security job at the mall and after getting out of there heâd texted Billy to meet him for drinks. But the other had probably gotten held up on his way over to the bar. âOh, I was waiting for someone,â he says, only now just realizing that Natasha had been there the whole time. âIt has been a while hasnât it.â
phoxnixsâ:
âi know this may be a totally random question,â jean mused as she stood in front of the cart on the street, flagging down the first she had seen with a warm smile and a gentle plea for help, âbut red or nude?â the mutant smiled holding up one colour in each hand. âthere are just so many choices.â
Teddy stopped in his tracks and took in the two colors that Jean was holding up for him to choose. Heâd never really been good at this sort of thing, but he felt like he owed it to her to give her good advice. âI think it depends on what youâre going for or the outfit you have on, but I think the red would look best with what you have on right now.â

He glanced down in the direction her finger had pointed in head slowly nodding as he listened along to her explain about who the Riddler was. Teddy would have to learn all the new bad guys that came along with this universe he was stuck in and what their preferred M.O. was. Everything she said was quickly stored away in his brain to reuse at a later time when he found himself on his own or with members or his usual crew.
âIâd hate to see what he could get up to by teaming up with the likes of Magneto. Good thing heâs anti-human and would probably never work with him.â He had yet to meet this Joker guy, but he seemed to be bad news and the adventurous side of him couldnât wait to fight against him. âWhatâs the Riddler doing now? And when do we jump into action?â He was more than ready to get his hands dirty, if it hadnât been glaringly obvious.

Bobby anxiously waited for a response and he was a little upset he wasnât able to fool the other. âOh man, Iâll get a little dirt on it next time,â he muttered. He cupped his hands together and created another snowball, but kept this one to himself. âWanna play?â he asked and he didnât wait for an answer before he flung the snowball at Teddyâs face.
Unprepared for Bobby to fling the snowball at his face, Teddy barely manages to turn his face so that he only feels the snowball grace his cheek. âOh youâre on!â He exclaims using the momentum to turn and scoop up a hand full of snow and quickly pressing it into a makeshift snowball that he hastily launches at Bobby.
