For those of you who don't know, I've been directing and now editing a feature-length project for Brooklyn Battle Comedy.  Shooting began in September and now we're dropping the teaser trailer.  

Brooklyn Battle Comedy puts on live shows that feature comedy alongside pro wrestling, so the project is like a mockumentary that ends in a pro wrestling match.  Oh yeah.  

Anyway, check it out if you're down.  I recommend turning up the speakers and setting it to at least 1080p or even 4K if your internet can handle it without lagging.  

Extra credit if you spot my eyes near the end of the trailer (the projector part).  Don't look for too long---I made it real secret.  But once you see them, it's almost obvious.

Apply saber to Ai jpgs (not just text) in Ae

Bring logo or whatever into timeline, select it and go up to Layer > Auto Trace.

Now your logo is converted into mask paths.

You can apply Saber to this now and switch Customize Core to Core Type > Layer Masks

Tracing handwritten text/brushwork in Ai

BLOCK LETTERS (using pen tool in Illustrator after threshold filter in Photoshop-- letters can be outlined, don’t need to be filled).

In text for example, cut the holes out of the B once you have paths for all 3.

Make sure the cut-out paths are in a layer above the B-layer.

Open Pathfinder window, select all relevant layers, then set to Minus Front.

BRUSHWORK LETTERS (using Image Trace in Illustrator after threshold filter in Photoshop -- letters should be filled in with black)

Use Image Trace feature in Ai, set to Black and White logo and press Expand when ready.

Ungroup, delete background and between letters and gaps.

Shift + H to highlight a node (view that node only)

Multiply eliminates (keys out) white background auto

Screen eliminates black likewise.

Zoom transition in [Pr]

Overlap clips by 3 frames, first one on top.

Put Transform effect on top clip.

In Transform effect, set Position/Scale key frames on start position (start of overlap) and zoomed in key frames on end of clip (3 frames later).  Temporarily reduce opacity of top clip to determine where to zoom into.

Uncheck box for Use Composition’s Shutter Angle

Set Shutter Angle to 180 (this is what gives you the blur)

Set key frames’s Temporal Interpolation to Bezier (smooths it out)

Shape layer 

Add Mask if you want a shape (like circle)

Set Mask type to None

Add Audio Spectrum effect to layer

Bring in audio to timeline

Set Shape>Audio Spectrum>Audio Layer to the audio file (first dropdown)

Set Shape>Audio Spectrum Path to Mask 1 

Adjust heights, bands, etc in menu.

EXPORT: 

in Ae -- add to Render Queue, click on Lossless, set to Quicktime and RGB+Alpha

in Media Encoder -- change format to Quicktime, set to Animation, then tick off 16 bit + alpha

Rolling credits checkbox in Premiere

You gotta click off the text clip, then click back on, then check the Edit tab in Essential Graphics. 

 You can only find the Roll checkbox for credits if you click OFF the text box  you’re working on (onto another clip) and then click back onto it.  If you highlighted the text, or otherwise started working with the text box, it shows you properties about the text in the Edit tab under Essential Graphics and you CAN’T FIND THE DAMN CHECKBOX FOR ROLL.

Make Line / Change its Color [Ae]

Make a new Solid, set dimensions to a line’s: example: height 5px, length 1000

Change color by clicking the layer in timeline, go to Layer, Layer Settings, change its color

Finding Keyframes in [Ae]

Once you have your picture imported and in the timeline, click that little sideways V that is pointed > by default.

That will open the tab and reveal Transform, which has its own >, click that.

FINALLY you will see the controls similar to Premiere that show Stopwatch keyframes etc.
