Spongebob could hardly believe it! Squidward asking if he could spend the day with Spongebob?! Without any prior begging or negotiation whatsoever? He must be dreaming!

… Or there might have been something very wrong with his neighbour. Spongebob might have done well to be suspicious, but he didn’t have the heart to question his motives. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity!  “Of course! I’d love that, Squiddy!”

He could move some things around for him, of all creatures in the sea. “What did you wanna do?”

Was going to post on art blog, decided not to and just uploaded here.

“No, no. Nonono.” Spongebob placed a fingertip to the other’s lips, pushing on it lightly, but firmly, his voice also dropping the airy tone to match it.

“Mr Tentacles, you need to clean up your act. Or maybe I, as your maid, need to clean it up for you...!” Spongebob huffed, shivering a bit from the way the tentacles penetrated his particularly sensitive pores, but made sure not to be deterred. He had, in mind, a way that this would go. And despite Squidward serving the role as “master” in this scenario, he wouldn’t be in charge- not this time, at least, he’d be making sure of that.

“You may look, but you cannot tuh-tuh-touch.” He punctuated this last word, tutting and tapping his finger on his nose with each. Then, he slipped out of his hold, dusted himself off, and squinted over at him.

“You understand?” 

Both hands on his hips, he waited, betraying, for just a moment, a gentle expression, in case Squidward had missed the point of this entirely. “You understand, right?” He repeated, a little softer. “You can just say ‘you’re fired’ if you’re not wanting my... uh, services anymore, by the way.”

A round about way of initiating safe words, huh?

... But then, what did the poriferan have planned, exactly?

𝙿𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚔𝚝𝚘𝚗 nervously glanced at the clock, feeling as if the ticking was taunting him. ‘𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕤𝕔𝕒𝕣𝕖𝕕 𝕙𝕚𝕞 𝕠𝕗𝕗, 𝕊𝕙𝕖𝕝𝕕𝕠𝕟.’ He imagined the clock saying as it’s hands pointed to 7 and 3. “Seven fifteen.” 𝙿𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚔𝚝𝚘𝚗 sighed, worried that ᔕᑭOᑎGEᗷOᗷ had been running late. He knew, of course, that such aGOOᗪ ᕼEᗩᖇTEᗪ ᔕᑭOᑎGE  wouldn’t stand him up, but that didn’t stop his 𝙖𝙣𝙭𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮 from nagging at him

He’d spent so long getting ready! Hopefully Plankton could forgive him for being late, even if it was unlike him. He just wanted to make sure he looked perfect for their date-- uh, dinner together, that is! A meal as two friends... single, friends. Single friends who liked to spend time together. That’s all this was.

Realizing both hands were full with the gifts he had gotten for him (both of which were hidden behind his back), Spongebob knocked on the door to The Chum Bucket best he could with his foot, frowning in concentration. Hopefully it was audible enough that Plankton would come to the door soon.

“Plankton, I’m here!” He sang, jovially, just in case the copepod hadn’t heard. “Are you reaaady?”

“And, really, if you were given the chance to double perfection, wouldn’t you take it?”

“C-can you…maybe…come with me to the 𝐵𝒶𝓇𝑔𝒶𝒾𝓃 𝑀𝒶𝓇𝓉 to get some medicine? I don’t think I could last a second in there αℓℓ ву муѕєℓf…”

“Sure!” Spongebob agreed, nodding, lifting Plankton up so he could place the small copepod on his head- made things a lot easier than simply walking and having to stop every few feet so the lil’ guy could catch up. “I was headed there anyway! Hope you don’t mind if I do some shopping of my own while we’re there.”

Of he went, being careful not to jostle his companion too much as he weaved through the passing pedestrians, humming idly as they entered the city and trotted down the sidewalk.
