There are people who are unknowingly heroes in the lives of others.  They should be celebrated.  I stumbled on the Pitch Perfect fandom during some really dark days in my own life.  I had hit rock bottom, struggling to find any reason to go on as well as looking for an escape from my own turmoil.  It was through Elizabeth Banks’ commentary where I heard of fanfiction.  Something so happenstance completely altered my life for the better.  I found a collection of stories that transported me away from my own troubles, gave me a reprieve from my feelings of being lost, bitter, and angry.  I had lost all of my coping mechanisms, and this blessed collection of authors offered me something that I can never ever repay–salvation.  These stories gave me the strength to continue putting one foot in front of the other, to just survive a bit longer until I could re-calibrate to my new normal.  I know that I would not be here today without you; and for that, I am immensely grateful.

I can’t reach out to all of the authors who helped to save this singular individual, but I can acknowledge those whose stories continue to affect me.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I am blessed with your existence, and I thought you should know.
