@sshuumaii
hello gamers! i know this acc is pretty much dead but i... am ogonna say i switched from @ afkqueenie to @ sshuumaii!
Fun fact in case you don’t know:
Much of the Midwest USA (which is landlocked, with no major natural bodies of water except our rivers) is UNDERWATER and most of the food grown in the US won’t be grown this year. High water rescues are being performed in what is supposed to be prairie. Flooding shows no sign of stopping and is going to break the all time flooding record. Levees are topped and failing, retention pools are full, and on top of that, MAJOR tornadoes (over 750 so far, on 4 occasions reaching EF4 status) have been happening. Over 400 streets are closed in Missouri alone, and most of a major interstate (i29) is closed in Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska?
Above: Nebraska, where 90% of corn and soy is grown in the US. Left is normal, right is this past march.
Most farmers in these areas don’t have flood insurance because they’re not in flood planes and normally would never need it. So they are at a major loss.
The US grows about 70% of the entire country’s staple crops, and half of Canada’s, too. The US is Canada’s main place of import because there is more viable planting space in the US than Canada. $1.4 billion of exports are sent to Australia every year as well, mostly pork, milk, and fruits that can’t grow in Asia (Australia’s main supplier).
There will not be corn, soy, dry beans, canned beans, beef, chicken, or wheat grown. Beef will go up at least 2$ a lb and corn and soy will be extremely pricey and hard to find because it will have to be imported.
Lots of farmers haven’t even been able to plant their fields and cannot plant at all, most commonly as a result of too much moisture in the soil—though driving through my part of Illinois, I can tell you that many fields are more puddle/lake than actual field.
Most of this area with lots of rain has already hit their “final planting date,” when crop insurance no longer guarantees the full payout as crops planted after that date stand a significantly higher risk of not making it to harvest. As a result, many farmers are looking at having to take prevented planting payments, which are generally 50-60% of their normal revenue. Additionally, taking these payments prevents those farmers from being able to replant their crop. While some haven’t paid for inputs (fuel, seed, fertilizer), many already have, and it will be extremely difficult to cover these losses with such a low payment.
It’s going to be a massive hit to small and medium-sized farms, which constitute over 90% of farms in the United States.
Livestock is also dying at an alarming rate - one person I know has recently lost 200 cattle because of flooding.
More levees have breeched in this and the flooding is worse than Katrina. More rain is still coming. Fields that should be planted right now are sitting under feet of standing water, which is also a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other disease-carrying insects.
Right now, we are leaning on a back supply of food, but this can only last for so long.
If you live somewhere that is affected by this, and you very well might, even if you don’t know it, STOCK UP ON FOOD. Corn, soy, wheat, beef, and dry beans are the biggest things that will be affected. Chicken might be good to stock up on too. Prices will skyrocket when back supply begins to run low. This is a very real thing. Nuts, potatoes, and pea-based proteins shouldn’t be affected.

This isn’t a spring post. This is full summer. God help us.
Illinois is like 45% planted. It’s astounding and scary.
Missouri is under so much water. Places that have never flooded before are being evacuated. No one is really prepared for this.

Love how no one gives a flying shit about California fires but HEY REBLOG MY GREECE POSTS. Bitch I have family in one of the bad fires, so I ain’t doing anymore reblogging. I did my share, now you do yours.
The problem with what happened in Greece is that people were burnt alive because no one would tell them to evacuate. Some of them died while jumping off of clifs to get in the water and some of them even drowned. Not only homes were destroyed. People were trapped without knowing were to go with no escape plan and the only thing they could do was to stand and wait for their deaths.
I’m not saying what happens in California is not serious by all means. It is really serious. People being homeless and especially because of such tragic events is really bad and I don’t think others are sleeping on that. I see people boosting the signal, I see people raising money. The only difference with these two situations is that Greece’s government is crap and has never cared about making an escape plan, not even on time, but people in America actually have escaping plans so they don’t die in flames. But I do really under what you’re saying because my house is really close to one of the major fires.
Being homeless and being burnt alive are two really different, but still very serious happenings that fires cause.
So if any of my follwers are seeing this please boost the signal about fires in California too. Every single life matters.
No, actually, we don’t have escape plans ESPECIALLY when the flames are coming so fast. The Atlas Fire last year where my aunt nearly DIED getting out of her house, was bad. She had no time to grab anything and her car was partially melted because the flames were so hot and so close. People died because they were trapped. There were 80 MPH winds going and no one could stop it. Our fire departments were so understaffed that they literally could do nothing but watch. A couple hid in their fucking swimming pool because they were trapped and one of them didn’t survive. There are videos of Police officers literally dragging people out of their houses while flames are all around them. It was in the middle of the night that it happened and people had little to no time to escape. There is no evacuation plan for that.
The fire in Redding right now is just about the same. It’s 110 degrees every day and we have 0 humidity. Several CITIES are burning. Family up there might lose their damn houses, ones they built themselves.
Look, I’m not saying that Greece doesn’t deserve the attention, I just hate when people get guilt-trippy and especially when people push these things like ‘Oh well we reblogged the Net Neutrality thing, but you’re not reblogging anything for Greece.’ I absolutely hate it, it makes me not want to reblog shit. Meanwhile my ENTIRE STATE is on fire. No word on that :)
And yes, being burnt alive is worse than being homeless, but people have died in these fires in California. Two firefighters actually lost their lives in the Carr Fire trying to fight it. People have died in their homes because they couldn’t escape. Do not tell me that California only has to worry about homelessness because it doesn’t. I’ve never seen any posts about the Valley Fire, the Atlas Fire, the Thomas Fire in LA or anything about the Carr fire here. Ever.
My heart goes out to people in Greece, but understand that we have it bad here too and yet I see nothing. That’s what makes me salty.
I miss sleeping next to someone
fucking idiot doesn’t even know the clone jutsu lol
I hate how fucking funny this is
i literally can’t stop thinking about this video and i lose it every time
Lmfao
okay everything about this video is absolute gold:
the fact that the guy argues via the puppet the entire time
the music
“let’s discuss the contradiction”
the overuse of the word “camera”
the way the puppet goes from trying to placate the guy to actively arguing against the guy and like turning it around on the guy
“youre consciously making a conscious choice”
the fact that by the end the puppet is basically screaming and the music is just. so loud.
“YOURE BREAKING THE CAMERA” as the video abruptly ends

One of these days, I’m going to compile a list of all you people who’ve ever responded to my posts with stupid puns. Then I’m going to hunt down everyone on the list, tie you all up in an abandoned warehouse, and make you listen to an audiobook of one of those 101 Hilarious Jokes books. You know, the ones where all the jokes are just dumb puns and don’t even make you crack a smile? And just when you think it’s over, I’ll start the audiobook over again and walk out. I’ll let you stay in that warehouse forever, listening to the same stupid puns over and over and over, for the rest of your pathetic little lives. When they find your bodies, the words “because seven ate nine” will be carved into your very flesh.

For some reason my Youtube account seems to have been unbanned. I noticed I am logged in and can “Like” videos. In light of that, I would like to share the video that got me banned on Youtube 8 years ago.
This is a clip from the movie, “Sushi Prince goes to New York”.
