๐ What are SSO OC Events?
The idea is to share a pic (or other creative content) of your Star Stable OC (original character) fitting to the theme of an event. For example, dressed up for a summer party. What would they wear? Do they look happy about it or were they pushed to attend? Are they attending alone or with someone? You can express as little or as much about the situation as you want. The point is to have fun, spark imagination, and show off your OCs to the world.
How do I participate?
Create an image (or other creative content) of your OC based on the theme, and post it with the hashtag that can be found in each event's post, so other people can find it through the tag. Each event has a theme and a date. But, it's okay to post to the event tags anytime if you can't make it within the time frame, so don't worry if you need to post early or late. It's recommended to @ this event blog in your post to make sure your posts get seen!
What should the post contain?
What your OC would look like attending the event, or what they're up to at the event. It could be just an image of them in an outfit, or it could be a snapshot or story of them doing something at the event, hanging out with others, getting into trouble maybe. You can be as simple or complex as you want.
What kind of OC creative content is allowed?
Pretty much anything, except AI generated content from models trained on copyrighted works without consent. (If you use an AI specifically trained on works with permission from the original creators, that's okay. But that isn't your average AI.)
You can draw your OC digitally or on paper
You can take (and/or edit) an SSO screenshot
You can write fanfics or other written content about your OC related to the theme of the event
You can dress up your OC in The Sims or other games and character creators and take screenshots
You can use a Picrew or other dollmakers
You can make a custom handcrafted doll of your OC
You can make your OC in 3D modelling software
You can make ASCII art of your OC
You can make a photo collage of your OC
You can make an oil painting of your OC
You can make a woodcarving of your OC
Etc.
Pretty much anything is fine as long as it's not hurting anyone! Any quality is okay too. It's okay if it's your first drawing. It's okay if it's sketchy, and it doesn't have to be clean or coloured. It's okay if it took 5 min or 5 hours or 5 days. It's okay if it's "just" a screenshot. Relax and have fun!
Can I post more than 1 thing with my OC for the same event? Can I post about multiple OCs?
You can post as many as your heart desires.
Do I need to talk to someone or get permission to participate?
No, just post your OC content tagged with the event's hashtag.
Is it okay if it's a horse, anthro, space octopus, or other non-human OC?
Completely.
Can I participate with canon characters (not OCs)?
These are events made to inspire people to be creative with their OCs and show them off to the world. Canon characters can definitely be part of your images or stories for the event, but the focus should be on your OC, since that's what these events are for :) But nothing is stopping you from creating works with canon characters and posting them anyway! It's great to be inspired and create things!
