we know the old guy who walks marianne to her spot is her father. come to theory town with me:

early on we theorised that he had sold marianne to the dictator in exchange for power, this was because he's shown as a janitor in some clips, now i want to theorise that he sold his whole family to the dictator (who also appears to be a normal guy in some clips but shhh he's a bli puppet) and the dictator took his wife's voice, mariannes sight, and by the looks of things hurt sylvia badly....
