my job situation is still in the air and i am also swarmed at work and so unmotivated. it's been a wild time beloveds. having a lot of difficulty atm even though i genuinely wanna be around and i cry </3

the implications about her late father are more than enough for him to understand this place is a vulnerable last resort she had to pick.   &   Peter feels responsible for all of it despite how quickly they’ve been making up   &   healing together. her first response makes his gaze flicker in her direction, hope budding under his chest immediately as he lazily bites into a chocolate chip cookie they bought from the donut shop recently, his iPad illuminated with science news cast aside.

burnout, yet somehow he wants to go out to an event. this is the part where they may see things differently. the blonde believes they should stay in & get some rest before tomorrow. after all, they're back at the studio bright & early. he, on the other hand, has always been more SOCIAL than she. yes, she understands the importance of attending certain social functions, but hers are spread throughout her calendar. naturally, her assistance is a must in some of them, which she happily attends.

part of her knows that they will have to COMPROMISE on this, since he will want her to be his plus-one. a lot.

who he used to be   &   who he is now clash at every turn. truthfully, him attending social events was always more because he needed the distraction, as much as he’s been the more social one. it beat coming back to a spacious home where no one would be greeting him. he played it off for too damn long that he just wanted her back, thinking it was too late. it’s just habits, his routine poking his head.

Peter is fully aware that he’s being tad a bit overly dramatic about this, but doesn’t he deserve to be  ?   having missed out on countless concerts after leaving his home planet, he feels like he’s earned the right to be a little over the top.   ❝  i was so distraught, i forgot i coulda just called the X-Men  !   Ororo coulda just flicked her wrist n’ made the clouds go away  !   ugh…  ❞   it wouldn’t be the wildest holo-call he’s made to the mansion, actually. besides, the Star-Lord is a friend of the mutants, having had many adventures with them   &   of course, he helped saved their asses with the aid of his team.

it wouldn’t matter how long ago those times were. it probably wouldn’t.

&   yet, it doesn’t matter at all now anyway. what’s done is done, the hybrid inwardly tells himself while moving behind Jess like a lost puppy.

❝  like, in general  ?   or what happened with the Olympians  ?    ❞   the distinction makes no difference given the obvious answer burning hot on his tongue, so hot that the half-human gulps it down tightly, hiding his unease behind one of those signature, flashy smiles of his. between blinks of his eyes, entire lifetimes play like tape he means to rewind. it all goes a bit too fast. despite that, it hurts just the same. making mistakes is part of the experience.

it is almost funny how that is something he would confidently tell everyone else on his team but never accept for himself. what happened with the gods was a complete clusterflark, as Rocket would refer to it.

it is just another crazy adventure added to the list. but is it  ?   it is more than that for the Star-Lord. it is personal   &   it has changed him at his core. look at him, with powers he never asked for casually traveling in his veins. lives have been taken   &   others lived out in another universe for nearly two centuries, with family found   &   left behind along the way. he is not sure he has ever forgiven himself for anything in his life that he felt responsible for, ever.

hi glitter bombs ! i have no clue if anyone's even active on my dash anymore truly, but i'll try to be around more, casually and very low activity. consider all memes and drafts dropped unless i end up responding to them during this 3-day weekend. if not, then i deleted bc everything i have is many months old and idek what's going on in the threads or what i even plotted. i don't do hard refreshes like this often so i appreciate you all !

as much as she hates the stagnancy, which is truly driving her crazy somewhere deep down, the blonde knows that it's for her own good. the sooner she heals, the sooner she will get back to work. plus, she doesn't want to keep adding to his plate, since he insists on doing most things around THEIR place.

he's tense. too tense. this  isn't the time for her to try to be funny; this is the time for her to be supportive of what's happening to him. yet that's the part where it gets tricky because it is new territory for everyone involved.

the blonde takes a deep breath, closing her eyes & reaching out to HIS ENERGY. despite it fluctuating a bit & being exponentially more powerful than before, the essence of it remains the same. it doesn't feel threatening, which she takes as a good sign that the Star-Lord will be all right.

❛   there are things that maybe even he wouldn't have known, right ? powers EVOLVE over time. centuries, in your case.   ❜ the Kree often tend to manifest powers later in life, so it could be a variation like that. it happened on its own, at the right time. ❛   it could be that you no longer need an instrument to channel your power.   ❜ he's been getting better at it with lots of hard work, so it must be that he's figuring it out more & more. ❛   i know it doesn't make it any less alarming, but you feel grounded to me.   ❜ it's difficult to explain.

when he changes the topic, Carol follows suit, placing her hand on top of his & letting it rest there. ❛   better than okay now.   ❜ she promises. honestly, she feels rather REFRESHED, like she doesn't need to rest for a few days. ❛   that's right. i find comfort in knowing you'll catch me no matter what.   ❜

the blonde has a point about how maybe even the man himself did not foresee the changes that Peter would go through. however scary   &   mind-blowing the whole thing is, he already knows it is a permanent change. he is many things, but he is not sure he could simply materialize that one-of-a-kind weapon, having never learned its exact origins. all he knows is that it is special.

when Carol mentions how it could be about his lack of need for channeling his power, a chuckle of disbelief escapes him instantly. it is always the things he never wants coming to find him in the superhero business that manage to show up anyway. power seems to keep choosing him as its home of late, when he wishes it would simply go away, while others kill to have it.

❝  i dunno why the universe would decide to put that kind of trust in me.  ❞   he says, then offers a nod of approval.   ❝  really  ?   that's good.  ❞   Peter being grounded  ?   miracles do happen.   ❝  always n' forever, Carol.  ❞   he emphasizes the words, giving her hand resting on his face a soft squeeze. he is so damn in love with her,   &   it is the craziest thing. at least, he knows where to keep his silver eye going forward. a part of him will always be with her   &   watch over her, his cosmic awareness coiling around her for as long as he lives.

the Star-Lord has no idea he has already begun. not wanting to comment on her assailants   &   grow upset, he responds with a quiet kiss on her forehead before slowly rising to his feet   &   assisting her in doing the same, even though she is good as new.

❝  that's a great idea. let's wash this whole thing off, literally.  ❞   she will have to forgive how he wants to be the one to do everything once they step into the familiar embrace of her bathroom tiles. one more quick kiss lands on the lady's forehead before he looks down at her with a playful expression.   ❝  you're gonna wanna help me take your onesie off.  ❞
