he chased me, and he wouldn't stop by anonymous – this one is vip but oh my god please read it, it's a gothic take on season 5 and you can just tell there was a lot of thought put into it. read the warnings tho

silly me, waiting by circumspectral – post season 4, will living with the wheelers. the angst got me, and idk it felt so genuine, i literally had to walk it off.

in between things that made sense by qulizalfos – the aftermath of the sorcerer. what can i say, i love the way this author writes, i'll read everything they post

the sky opened up by algeadee – hypothetical season 5 written pre-season 5, will byers has powers!! love how everyone feels like themselves and the way their relationships are depicted here.

this is so good. i'm so mad. we could've had these two instead of Holly eating up everyone's time while being a new edition people don't really feel particularly attached to (no offense to Nell--she's a great actress)

we could've actually had the story center Mike, one of our main characters from the start, and Max, one of our main characters from the middle-end of the series and had necessary development between them cause yknow they're main fkin characters...

everyday somebody comes up with a better concept.. i'm pissed off. (this is great OP)

Oh I’m feeling genuinely excited about this concept I need to inject it into my VEINS (long post incoming, my apologies.)

Max and Mike interactions have been lacking for YEARS and this could be such a touching moment for the two of them! They have really good banter, but there’s always an underlying care, where it’s easy to see how they’d support each other in a situation like this.

It’s immediately a more compelling character moment - it’s more than just a nice dynamic, it’s a resolution for two characters we’ve followed for so long! Holly and Max was… nice, but in the final season of such a meaningful show? It should’ve returned to centering the characters that made it in the first place!

Additionally, I think a lot of people struggle to come up with alternate victims for Mr. Whatsit to go after because he preys on the naïveté of children, but there are other ways that Vecna could’ve attacked than just appearing in front of people!

I think one of the coolest “upgrades” Vecna could’ve had this season was playing the long game with his victims - which he somewhat did with Holly, but I’m talking months of biding his time and fully building a connection before he strikes. Vecna being able to successfully target Mike also would’ve upped the stakes a lot more - it’s not just children he can manipulate, but the older characters too! No one is safe from him.

And the connection could happen in a variety of ways - he could appear in person, but he could also send strange messages to only Mike’s walkie, or he could visit Mike in his dreams - a shadow at first, but slowly as he gains Mike’s trust he begins to take form. I was also really hoping for some genuinely mind-bending “what is reality” concepts this season, after s4 set it up so well (something like that one scene in Spiderman far from home could’ve worked so well)

And Mike has explicitly said to Holly that he pushes down his fear to put on a brave face - we could have moments of him almost telling others what he’s been experiencing, but sees how they’re also struggling and doesn’t want to feel like a burden. (Scenes like these would have to be told through flashbacks, or happen very early on, like they did with Holly).

For byler, this could also lead to a talk with Max + resolution where he finally stops hiding his feelings - Max would understand him so well after s4, where she pulled away from her friends (and Lucas - potential lumax/byler parallels). She wouldn’t let Mike make the same mistake she did.

We could also have some Willel sibling moments - both would show concern over Mike, but El could notice the strength of Will’s feelings - they could have an arc that acts as a natural conclusion to s4. This could also establish a) m1leven being broken up over the timeskip, b) m1leven never being a functional couple, c) the contrast of byler actually having that depth, and d) how much Will and El care for each other outside of their relationships to others - stopping the fans from pitting them against each other.

Ok I’m gonna stop elaborating now but this is such a cool concept I could really talk about it forever!
