pov you call your employer the cuntessa, you aired his marital drama to the entire world and now you’re making him a musical documentary, you have your Pulitzer and you’re going to get your Oscar, you love being a vampire, you’re not on speaking terms with your old friend or your maker but you’d fuck them nasty given the chance, you’re a fledging and you ripped off another vampire’s head to save your aforementioned boss while he’s high out of his mind. You’re the real cuntessa Daniel Molloy
imagine going to an auction for your “deceased” ex husband who is also placing bids on his own stuff because unaware to you he is in another body meanwhile you are using the same continuous bidding as foreplay with your second ex husband over the same shit that belonged to your first ex husband who your second ex husband was also obsessed with. this happened to my good friend louis de pointe du lac
The Vampire Lestat (2026) - Season 1, Episode 1
what I fucking love is how tvl was written in the 80s and lestat is constantly sayinf shit like “as the kids say 🤪 that’s so rad!!” or whatever, and to me, reader of the vampire lestat in this modern age, that does NOT register the way anne rice intended it.
like it is supposed to feel jarring and insane. it is supposed to feel like lestat has been violently submerged in modern young people trends and culture and is now repeating all the new words he learned like a beautiful fresh baby. but because the book is from 1985, all I think is oh interesting huh I didn’t know that slang term even originated in the 80s how vintage how retro how lestat wow he’s so embarrassing aw aw so cute.
but amc in all their incredible genius decided that honoring anne rice’s original vision of writing an extremely modern and weird book that fully embodied the era it was written in was more important then bringing back the 80s nostalgia thing that streaming services love and it’s incredible to me. now I get to listen to lestat say shit like “labubu FOMO cosplay reddit discord Gen Z more like gen SNOOZE 🤪🤪🤪 safe space pronouns donald trump labubu tiktok dance 🕺🏻” and suddenly I understand what it felt like to be a young anne rice reader in 1985. God…. I understand.
inspired by that one post
You can always tell when somebody hasn't actually read Moby-Dick because they'll be all "haha you see it's actually funny because the whale doesn't even give a shit, it's not evil it's just a whale, which renders the whole story about wanting revenge against it completely unserious!" when this is in fact actually addressed in the book. Moby-Dick is not a story about revenge against an animal! It is a story about, amongst other things, feeling helpless and angry after experiencing a traumatic event, and lashing out at anyone and anything you feel you're able to lash out at! Ahab has a whole monologue about how he knows the whale is just a whale but "kill the damn whale" is the only thing he can do! He's just been through a whole series of deeply traumatizing experiences, society shows zero sympathy and dismisses him as insane, his employers need him back at work anyway, he can't fight God, he can't bring his leg back, but he can at least seek revenge against the thing that ripped it off!
Moby-Dick is fundamentally a story about what happens to people who are given no outlet, no constructive coping mechanisms, and end up coping in seriously fucked up ways instead. The tragedy isn't "guy doesn't realize revenge against an animal is stupid," the tragedy is "working-class disabled guy has zero support network and feels like he has no choice but to pursue revenge because his only other option is to just keep going about his life and his job like he didn't just get his fucking leg ripped off, and his ensuing mental breakdown costs multiple lives including his own." It could have been avoided if literally any support existed for mentally ill people and physically disabled people. It could have been avoided if capitalism didn't demand that people keep working no matter what just to make a living. It could have been avoided if the religious community of the era hadn't been so eager to judge somebody in Ahab's situation as obviously having done something to offend God.
Strong contender for the best chapter in Moby Dick is the one where they meet another ship whose captain lost a limb to the white whale (an arm instead of a leg) and that guy is Completely Normal about it. Thinks it’s ridiculous to get vengeance against a dumb animal. Hasn’t tried to chase Moby Dick since, because why the fuck would he? The book cannot make more clear that Ahab is choosing to be Like This
so i hear tumblr's dying and this moby dick meme idea has lived in my head for literal years...
they hate me for my slut waist and recurring self harming behavior
your twenties are Also about discovering that you’re not a bad person in all the ways you believed you were but you’re a bad person in completely new and exciting ways
"Kim was a rebel in his youth!" "No, kim was a little church boy!" Well i think kims smugness and competitiveness and his desire to only give his best appearance to others especially authority figures has probably been there for a long time and he behaved well and got good grades to get adults to like him and use it as leverage to attempt to drag people that bullied him into the dirt (with varied results) he probably bent the rules and stole things too if we go by the spinner story. Kim was a boy who bent the rules to his advantage and still does as an adult but doesnt break them. He was also less ashamed considering that he notes that he was very serious about franconigerian knight figurines meanwhile hes too scared to admit that he likes speedfreaks fm now. He grew up in a poor ass orphanage post war theres no way he was an innocent little church boy. A church boy maybe but not an innocent one

Harry and Kim are so Marx and Engels that Kim has to pay for Harry's debt in full on the first night
i love how wicks’ followers portrayed jud as judas, while he was saint jude the whole time, the patron saint of the lost causes, invoked in extreme need because of his reputation for stepping in in seemingly impossible circumstances, but also considered a saint of hope.
