This is a personal blog. I mostly post stuff related to my land/property and reblog things related to visual media.

Oppossum walks by the back of the back pond. Camera movement is a bit loud at the beginning. Louder frog calls permeate. 28 June 2026.

These frog calls are typical on my property. In May there's many toad calls too.

Gray fox walks by bird bath pond and through the yard. Disappears 15 seconds in and does not come back. 21 June 2026.

Blue jay at the bird bath pond. Starts 10 seconds in. Its call is very loud.

Animorphs art scene seems kinda dead on Bluesky, despite it being a running joke thing for a month during closed beta lmao Anyways, here's my take on a Hork-Bajir. I really hope the upcoming adaptation makes them actually frightening. Also if any of you draw Animorphs art, leave a comment with your Bsky so I can follow you over there (or here, if you prefer)

Starts at 10 seconds. Groundhog walks in while bird flies down. Groundhog walks off quickly while bird takes a long bath. Joined by a 2nd bird at 1:08 very briefly.

it's very frustrating seeing otherwise well-structured posts about media literacy and critical thinking bookended with statements about "nowadays", "nobody has literacy anymore", "this generation is so anti-intellectual", and the like, unquestioningly falling into better past fallacies.

Do we really think the 80s and its Satanic Panic were better at critical thinking? what about the 40s? the Victorian era? societies have always had problems with critical thinking and literacy, because most societies have dealt with propaganda, corrupt leadership, difficulty providing education (due to poverty or discrimination or other issues), and/or people who resist critical thinking (due to privilege or circumstance or what have you). we can criticize media trends without pulling a "well back in the GOOD OLD DAYS" about it.

Indecisive gray fox walks around the pond area and disappears completely 25 seconds in. Does not return. 21 june 2026.

Small bird checks out the bird bath pond, starting 27 seconds in. It is loud and calls many times as it hops along the rocks. I'm not good at identifying birds yet.

I suspect birds aren't bathing in the pond anymore due to the thick algae bloom. I don't want to clean it as that would catch & kill too many tadpoles.
