Hawk at my pond! I think it's a cooper's hawk. I wish the trigger time on these cameras weren't so bad so I could've seen the landing.

Gray fox checking out the area in the snow. This is probably the first video I have that gives a really good look at their face?
Pond is done
So I guess I finished my pond a few weeks ago but it kinda just petered out in "Oh. That's it, I guess" instead of some grand achievement. That's why I haven't made another post about it. Also there's really not anything new to show. I did finish the rocking fountain but I don't trust it to run without supervision so it is what it is. Everything else looks the same so there's not really a point in sharing more photos...
I got a new camera that moves. Here is a deer checking it out.
I've had a lot of activity over winter actually, but most of it has been deer so I haven't bothered updating tumblr. Also it seems like I always experience problems trying to send video posts here too so it's kind of a pain in the ass. edit: How this post, that specifically says "pain in the ass" doesn't need a content label, but the other one, that is 100% safe for all ages and includes the same video, does, is beyond me. I get the hate about the needing potential review thing now.
Raccoon checking out the pond flash at the beginning
The New Backyard (now that the pond is gone)
Previous post about why the pond is gone and how we got here.
My mom and & I worked ~3 weeks on this! Almost everything is new. I built the planters.
The red building is my garage. The blue circles are the kiddie pools that currently hold my pond stuff. The rock wall is all the rock I saved from my pond disassembly.
In May - June, the toad tadpoles hatch.
I build a catio (outdoor cat enclosure) in June 2022. I made a twitter thread for full progress. (all pics in the twitter thread also have alt text) This just mirrors the highlights.
There's a 2 ply cat door (for cold weather use) leading to the passageway. The enclosed box is where the litter box is. Actual catio is 10ft x 8ft and has three levels. After these photos, I redid the roof of the cat litter area so it had shingles and an angle. I also added a cabinet underneath for the cat litter supplies. Next year I may redo the roof of the passageway- due to the angle, water is always getting in the pway near the catdoor.
