thinkin bout erik making their wedding rings with the engravings “i thought i was alone” for Charles’ ring and “you’re not alone” on his :,) so when they see them and put them on- and then they’re reminded- im fine i promise

so let me get this straight. charles felt the pain of a metal coin going literally going through his skull, was paralyzed, and left on a beach without the woman he grew up with and the man he felt all that pain for?

i... do u think Erik ever learned that Charles felt the pain that Shaw was supposed to? do you ever think he realized that not only did he take Charles’ legs from him that day, but made it so that Charles felt what it was like to die? and do you think that after Charles felt that, he knew more than ever he could never kill anyone? like...

it’s like when you go through a trauma and you’d do anything so no one would have to feel that trauma. he just. he went through so much pain. and eventually he. he forgave Erik. even if erik didn’t know the complete extent to what he’d been forgiven, charles forgave him.

i’m just :,) Charles is so GOOD. Charles’ heart deep down is so good. in the end he wants what’s best for everyone. and that’s his flaw. he never quite learns that you can’t please everyone. he just keeps trying to make everyone happy, but he never quite lets himself be happy.

y’all ever think that Eirk probably left his stuff at the mansion after the Beach Incident? at least for a little while? cause we all know he’s dramatic and likes to hold things over people so he probably just deadass LEFT after what happened.

and y’all think that when charles got back from the hospital, he saw them. and just kind of. felt his heart clench like it was trying to shrink in size.

whatever you do, don’t imagine Charles picking up one of Erik’s old shirts and clinging to it like a lifeline. don’t imagine him burying his face in it and crying. don’t imagine him keeping some of erik’s stuff in his room for when he misses him. don’t imagine him slowly and surely moving everything out because the thought of all parts of Erik being gone from his life hurts less over time. don’t imagine how much it would hurt when he saw Erik again, smelling a little different, but underneath it all the exact same.

don’t imagine erik having nothing of charles’ left. don’t imagine that when he looks at Raven, what he really sees is Charles. don’t imagine that he confides in Raven, telling her that he misses Charles like he misses his mother.

above all else, don’t imagine how it would feel for them to touch again after years separated. the breathcatching moment of when their hands brush or when they finally hug again or when they finally, finally kiss again after all those years of telling themselves they could never have that again.

while i’m still in my cherik mood i wanna talk about how most times i see cherik being shown from charles’ POV but cherik from Erik’s POV is so so important. just. erik having someone ask him to stay. someone asking him to stay after knowing everything about him. that’s so important. i really wonder how many times people yelled at him to go. i wonder how many lonely nights he had before he met charles. just going through the motions of killing people who hurt him. of killing people who hurt his mom. how many people do you think he ever trusted in his life. and then he meets charles who really SEES him. for him. and wants him around. who jokes with him and challenges him and plays chess with him. and he might not agree with charles all the time but charles is EXCITED that there’s someone to challenge him. that they have a specific balance that can work if they can just meet in the middle. but erik is over taken by his need for vengeance. for what he believed gave him power - his anger. and charles helps him reach that little bit of power he never could through the peace and love charles brings. i just. it’s really important. i’m so sad. i think he thinks of charles a lot. like when he thinks about killing i think he hears charles in his ming despite the helmet being on. i think he hears charles’ voice telling him to be the bigger man even years after they stop seeing each other. i think maybe he wishes charles were by his side every day. i think maybe when he sees raven he’s reminded of charles. that it hurts to think of him. that if maybe things could have gone differently... maybe they’d be side by side. the two of them against the world. but charles had always wanted to be a part of the world. and erik isn’t quite ready to want to be a part of it too.
