Cherik Domestic headcannons

Charles is afraid of the dark. Erik only sleeps in pitch black. Charles can sleep in the dark when Erik is there, but if Erik gets up he turns on a light immediately. Erik doesn't know it.

Erik goes for a long run every morning. He then showers and goes back and lays down and reads in bed until Charles gets on mornings he isn't doing anything.

On the topic of sleep, Charles has chronic insomnia and Erik falls asleep and wakes up on a rigid schedule. He goes to bed at ten and wakes up at 5. Charles goes to sleep whenever the fuck and wakes up hopefully never.

Erik is gay and Charles is bi. Charles likes to regularly remind Erik how much he also loves women's bodies whenever he is mad at Erik. Erik acts like he doesn't care (he cares deeply). Erik is slightly grossed out by women and tries to forget that Raven isn't a man.

Charles starts to cry when he gets to drunk. It's how you know he needs to go home. Erik gets silent when he is drunk. It is not a great combo.

Charles loves physical touch. Erik is touch-starved and also scared of overstepping so usually it means Charles is draped over Erik and Erik is slightly afraid.

Erik still eats kosher. Charles heard him think about it once and now makes sure all the staples of the house are kosher. He also has a designated kosher cabinet that Charles set up without telling him first.

Charles once pierced his own ear in college with Raven, a potato, and a safety pin. Erik discovered that once while kissing him and couldn't continue because he wanted to lecture Charles about how the needle should have been disinfected first. Nothing ended up happening that night.

Erik drinks black coffee. Charles drinks black tea. Neither of them will try the other.

Charles is a massive stoner, and Erik will never try it. He likes to be in control. Charles once got Erik to try it and Erik just zoned out for about 3 hours and Charles felt so bad once he was on earth again, he wrote Erik a 4 page apology letter.

Charles and Erik still say 'be safe I love you' even if they are off to fight each other.

This is just a cute modern au where Erik and Christine go on a joy ride after a date night at the Opera!

I wrote this one together with my bestie @nerdywriter36, and we had a lot of fun with it! it's a sequel to a one shot we wrote back in 2021 for POTOber (hosted by @coatntails), and while we're in the process of plotting this to be a full fic (at some point), we hope you enjoy this little piece of our Cherik modern au! Charles Has New Metal - Erik Doesn't Know

(based on a conversation in which we talked about Charles somehow having new metal on him and Erik accidentally manipulating it)

He hadn’t seen Charles in months. It was through no fault of his own, but that didn’t mean that he couldn’t be unhappy with it. Actually, he was almost positive that some groveling would have to be done to get back into Charles’s good graces after this particular trip. But it would be worth it, as long as it was for Charles.

Erik flattened his hands out over his shirt, making several unnecessary brushing motions as he made his way to the school’s front door. It was fairly quiet on the grounds, which meant that the children were either in classes, or out on a trip. That, in turn, would mean some peace and quiet after a long and rather harrowing mission. However, classes mean no Charles, while trip meant Charles and him…alone.

He shook himself, inwardly scowling at that paticular train of thought before raising a hand to knock on the door. A few minutes pass with no answer, so he reaches out with just the barest edge of his powers, feeling for something in movement like a watch, button, or pin. Nothing. Nothing at all.

There’s a brief moment of panic which he resolutely squashes before he can actually entertain it, shifing on his feet and knocking once more before deciding to investigate.

It’s unusual for there to be no one there to open the door. Unusual, but not impossible, he tells himself.

The trip to the yard is short and easy, well practiced in a way that he never thought would be posssible, but was immensely greatful for. It was then, as he rounded the corner to the wide expanse of green, that he felt familiar metal, warmed and in motion. Erik let out a breath that he wasn’t aware he had been holding.

Before he hears the delighted chatter of Hank and Charles’s voices, his power wraps comfortably around the heavy presence of steel and aluminum. Charles’s chair.

“Erik!”

And that would be Charles, along with the comforting presence of love, home, peace, joy, settling deep in his mind and bones.

He’s just picked up the pace enough to bring them into view, raising his hand in an absent minded wave when-

“Hel-augh!” And Charles in hurtling towards him.

The first thought is, “What?” The second, more concrete thought is, “Not Charles’s chair.” Which is how he ends up pummled into the ground, arms secure around a smaller frame, and completely disoriented.

“What.” He voices.

“You just- I have-” And the breathless British accent dissolves into laughter.

“Mechanical leg braces, to stimulate nerves and simulate walking…although they’re probably not much more than scrap now.” Hank sounds remorseful, likely because he had spent a great deal of time making the things.

Erik opens and closed his mouth a couple of times. Charles just shakes his head against Erik’s collar, lifting up slightly to show glittering eyes.

“Welcome home, love. Looks like you owe me yet another set of legs.”

Because someone requested, X-Men First Class Headcannons

Erik sleeps with the door fused shut with metal. Charles found this out because he would go to Erik's room to rant about the kids.

On the topic, Erik's bedroom is in the farthest corner from the main hall, looking out on the grounds. He likes to keep watch.

Charles tried to sleep in a different bedroom to distance himself from the memories in the manor, but it felt too wrong, and he moved back to his childhood room after the first night.

Raven is using this opportunity to go into every room she wasn't allowed in as a kid. Charles is the opposite; he still respects his parents' rules for the first week or two.

Charles and Raven both are very on edge in the first few weeks in the manor. Raven jumps when people knock on her door, and Charles can't let the phone ring for more than two rings before answering. Neither will talk about why.

Charles and Erik go on runs together. Erik doesn't tell Charles he usually goes on a run when he first wakes up. Because it's his second of the day he and Charles keep pace pretty well.

The kids tend to get drunk most nights and fuck around. Charles has to use every ounce of self control to not join in (he's responsible now!!!)

On the road trip, Erik would pass the time by asking Charles hyperspecific questions about mutations. Charles talked his ear off because he just got a PhD in this like a month ago.

Erik also hears all about Charles's plans to be a scientist. Years later he will bring this up to Charles, and Charles will be shocked that Erik remembered.

Erik wasn't actually very good at chess when they first met, he hadn't gotten much chance to play, but his moves were so ruthless and he was so smart that he quickly started beating Charles.

Charles did not go easy on Erik but he would pretend to think much longer than he needed to so it seemed like a fair fight.

Hank makes breakfast for everyone in the mornings. No one likes Hanks cooking but they are polite so everyone's eating oatmeal.

Charles and Alex spend a lot longer training than anyone else. He works with Alex every single day for at least a hour to unlearn all his beliefs about his powers.

Erik is annoyed by Sean to a unreasonable extent and he cannot explain why. It might be the hair.

Raven started a betting pool on if Charles and Erik had a crush on each other. Everyone's gut reaction was 'oh my gosh Raven no they are two MEN??' and then they had one (1) dinner as a group and yeah no Raven they see your point.

Hank and Raven are hooking up and absolutely insufferable to be around.

Erik never liked Raven, he flirted to further his political agenda.

Charles might actually die of nostaliga, he thinks he will be the first person. Sometimes he goes into his fathers old study, pours a drink, and talks to him and asks for advice. It's the closest Charles gets to praying.

Erik won't eat anything for the first week. Like, not one bite of food. Charles finally realizes that nothing is kosher and goes out and buys kosher food. It's a little... weird... but Erik will very gratefully eat the canned tuna and peaches.

Raven organized a squirt gun fight and no one told Erik. He walks in and gets assaulted before everyone realizes he was in fact, not playing, and they have to scatter.

(Charles knew Erik wasn't playing and squirted him anyway)

Erik went to Charles's room one night and asked him if he could unlock any other happy memories of him with his mother. Charles told stories about his biological father as a trade.

Kurt Marko is only referenced as 'our crazy step-dad'. One time, when Charles and Raven aren't there, everyone puts together what they know about him. It paints a pretty ugly picture.
