Important about the Tumblr “Purge”

Tumblr has made and official statement on twitter about what’s going on:

We’re committed to helping build a safe online environment for all users, and we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to media featuring child sexual exploitation and abuse. As this is an industry-wide problem, we work collaboratively with our industry peers and partners like NCMEC to actively monitor content uploaded to the platform. Every image uploaded to Tumblr is scanned against an industry database of known child sexual abuse material, and images that are detected never reach the platform. A routine audit discovered content on our platform that had not yet been included in the industry database. We immediately removed this content. Content safeguards are a challenging aspect of operating scaled platforms. We’re continuously assessing further steps we can take to improve and there is no higher priority for our team.

Please please please, for the love of everything, stop spreading fear in our community. They are not purging your blogs for having NSFW content. If your blog gets deleted and you didn’t have any of the above mentioned content, or something that could be percived as such, then please contact Tumblr Support to regain your blog. They can be contacted via the form here.

Then why are blogs without this type of content being purged, put back up and then purged again? It’s obvious at this point they used a bot or query to delete any blog that had ever had a report sent towards it, ever tagged with anything, or at this point, even purely based on blogs they interacted with. They have also targeted and removed the ability to search for any NSFW content and prevented any content of that kind from being found without direct linking or reblogs. Even SFW blogs that have never even hinted at or gone near NSFW content have been deleted.

To try to claim this was a mistake at this point is outright lying and it’s clear as day that this is a targeted move to remove what they consider “unsightly” or bad for business and advertisements from their platform.

Don’t even begin to try to pass this off and don’t spread this garbage as a way to forgive moderators for shamelessly purging half of their userbase and destroying completely innocent artists’ livelihood just because you’ve been told everyone purged was evil and that innocents will get their blogs back.

Tumblr has made no statement regarding the purge on any platform whatsoever and there is still nothing more than assumptions as to what has happened. Spreading any other information as truth is doing nothing but stanning this shit website’s worthless staff, who are so incompetent and so actionless that they still allow hundreds of thousands of porn bots, drug sellers, child porn distributors and horrible abuse centric communities to exist.

The purge didn’t make a dent in the porn bots, didn’t deal with the colossal amount of actual illegal content and has barely given access back to anyone who has asked, in some cases deleting blogs a second time after reinstatement.

Tumblr does not care about you, they care about your ad revenue and keeping their website up, believe nothing else, no matter who tells you what good things they have done.
