How can Rebecca Ann Sparrow only appear in people's dreams even when she's unable to be seen and heard in the physical plane of existence?

i might not have been clear re: wording, but !! i included the tobin’s segment on dream spirits at the beginning of the chapter to establish that it’s sometimes easier for a spirit to appear in dreams, when a person’s consciousness is more “receptive,” than to use their energy to manifest in the physical plane. does not mean a spirit is necessarily confined to dreams.

continuity with rebecca is a little weird in canon, since she wasn’t originally meant to be confined to dreams (a subplot as ray’s love interest was in previous drafts of the script, but cut for time). i took some creative liberties, but tried to stay a little loyal 🫡 thank you for letting me talk about this in detail
