The universe likes to be humorous
It’s the first thing Elliot found out when he was “born” from his father Hermes, Even more humorous when he found out about the existence of soulmates and his purpose.
He was to be a deity a deity who delivers messages through cupids bow who would decide who should be soulmates and who should not.
Every single day was the same routine for Elliot one which he found to be the outmost boring.
I mean how could you blame the guy when his everyday job was to deliver the same raunchy love letters of two soulmates on each others birthday
But nooo he just HAD to be the deity of messages.
The messenger of God himself Zeus.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN HERMES?”
Elliot said as he slammed his fist on the table
“I mean it all to well my son”
Elliot only glared as he sat back down in the seat
“You and I both know you need this day off more than any of the gods here”
Elliot only laughed out loud as he stared at Hermes in disbelief
“My job is of the outmost importance I am the one who keeps Cupids sickening deals of love afloat that of which may I remind you fuels Aphrodite’s needs for some stupid romance show, and we both know how she gets when there’s no romance…”
Elliot only grinned mischievously as he knew he would win his work was important to him it was his job his purpose…if he didn’t do his job what was the point of being a god?
“It’s a leap year…February 29th to be clear that day does not come along often technically speaking it also means it’s a short day for you after all those foolish mortals do anything to avoid that day say…how many orders?”
He huffed as he looked away
“Even if I do have a free day I would never attribute it to those foolish parties of Zeus and Hera which we all know is a foolish attempt of Hera to appear perfect when we all know how the family tree looks like”
“You’re going and that’s final Elliot don’t make me repeat myself I brought you into this world and you may be immortal but I have both the power and the connections to end it when I want to”
Elliot bursted out of the window in a fit of rage his wings already taking him to where he desired the letter from his bag already gone and done already delivered.
Parties were a hit or miss for you they never once were something you desired but it was a joy to see what new drama there was.
Oh but nothing would beat the joy of being wrapped up in a blanket on a cold rainy day making potions.
Oh to thank your mother the goddess of witchcraft herself Hecate.
You were a deity yes one of which to take care of the power of Alchemy itself.
Your concoctions were no joke as you could cure even the worst of diseases.
It’s a common occurrence in this mortal land, when a poor person finds out the person they were dating was seeing someone else that of which was their actual soulmate who they would happily marry at the alter.
And then they would come seeking your abilities.
You could cure anything of course
So when you received a certain invitation from a certain narcissistic ruler, who were you to decline?
Especially when one of your closest friends happens to be going as well, a certain love god with a taste for dramas.
After all witchcraft wasn’t the only thing you inherited from your mother.
“And so I told her hunny you can’t be flaunting anything not when I exist and then I stole her boyfriend right in front of her eyes”
Aphrodite said as she laughed out loud as she sipped some wine.
The party was eh but drama, gossiping and sipping wine with Aphrodite wasn’t.
“Ugh too bad today is so boringgg it just HAD to be a leap year”
Aphrodite said as she slumped back into the couch as you only hummed in agreement.
You clicked your tongue as you grinned.
“Why not make some more sappy romance after all your son does still have some arrows, doesn’t he?”
You said grinning as you took a potion out, your second best selling.
Aphrodite grinned as she swiped the bad of arrows from her son passing you one sheepishly as you doused the arrows in the potion.
You knew yours would only work on mortals and it would most only be an illusion of love one that would fade in a day after all it was Cupids job to do the serious love so you might have to rebrand to the actual potions purpose
And gods aren’t any stranger to Lust not when you aim the bow at the most famous of those examples.
And in 5 minutes you and Aphrodite had your drama as you both laughed as Hera tried to pry away all smiling and frustrated as her husband tried to have his way with a forest nymph.
Of course it wasn’t anything new to you both after all Zeus was famous for his family tree and still is so as you prepared to launch another arrow. Something caught your eye
“My my my who is that fellow?”
Aphrodite said as she stopped you from shooting another arrow as you groaned.
Of course Aphrodite had to be interested in mingling with another god.
“Now hold on dear this one is something… ah yes Hermes son…Elliot, never seen that fellow around and he seems…quite lonely”
Aphrodite said grinning as you rolled your eyes.
“Aphrodite come on stop ogling over a guy and let’s find our next victim”
“I already found one and I already found the receiver too”
“Oh really well tell me who and I’l-“
And not just a small one but somehow she shoved you all across the room and bumping into the chest of a certain blondie with angelic wings
You groaned as you rubbed your head as Elliot stared at you
“Are you alright? Now I’m not one to judge other peoples entertainment but I am not about to be that goddess next romance show”
Elliot said as he walked past you.
You were used to be tossed aside by many seen only as a replica of your mother a useless copy one only mimicking the fraction of power your mother held.
And Elliot could say the same thing.
Grabbed his arm and dragged him outside.
You were desperate now you wanted to be heard to be seen by anyone and the first thing to swoon your new friend?
“Have you ever delivered my letters?”
Elliot burst out laughing in histeria he couldn’t care less anymore that some deity dared to grab him now as he laughed and laughed.
And you only looked away embarrassed.
You already knew the answer to that question and that was that gods didn’t have soulmates no potion or work of the god of love could work back then however you didn’t understand foolishly you sent letters to nobody when you were a child.
Elliot only laughed as he pulled a letter out of his bag as he gave it to you.
“You entertained me here have a relic of your past my treat”
You only took it as you looked at it…Valentines day since you had no real birthday you would just send out letter like they were nothing on random days just like this letter sent on Valentine’s Day your messy handwriting as the letter was directed to no one.
That’s what it should have said…
Instead on the top right it said something that stopped your tracks
Your heart sank as you showed Elliot the writing
That of which he also seemed shocked
Now both of you were looking at the other letters all with the same magical stamp
No that can’t be possible no gods have a soulmate
But both of you hunched over some childish letters could say otherwise
“This can’t be…the letter…I did actually try to deliver some at the start but I never could find the connection…”
Elliot looked at the shape of the stamp.
The weird thing about those strange letters from the god of love itself were the concept of the stamp shapes in all his whatever years of god life has he never seen a star stamp.
And usually all mortals have a special stamp that correspond to eachother all of which always end up some weird shape.
Sure he had his cases of hearts but they were always different colors and colors were infinite.
Never…has he seen a star stamp.
The small mark of a star that of which his own father remarked to be a strange “birth mark”
A defect to be known as a copy of his father
As he stared at the small star in his hand did he finally connect the dots.
And usually mortals have a stamp only he and his father could see one that would mark itself right above their heads.
But what if for the gods it was in a different placement.
As Elliot grabbed your hand did he see the star.
Same shape same shade of gold.
Same glimmering shine to it.
And suddenly it glowed and you gasped.
You must have seen it for the first time too…
“My my my what a wonderful show”
Aphrodite said as she squealed from behind
“I am so inviting you two on my next show of ‘interesting soulmates’ oh all the gods are so gonna be shocked and love struck as they find out gods can have soulmates”
Aphrodite went on and on but you could only stare at you own hand and his.
I guess your first date is to be at a talk show.
A/N: Second year in the row when I post on my birthday I ain’t dead yet guys🔥🔥🔥
