The wildest thing about those “straight guys dressing femme just to get chicks” posts are……….. okay. S….so? Like, if women are out here absolutely horny off their rockers for femme guys (which, I mean, probably), like, okay, then do that. Put on a skirt if that’s the new m/f mating call of the decade. Why not? Girls who’re into men deserve a guy who looks hot in a skirt. How is this any different then when guys in unison decided to start wearing skinny jeans or showing off their butts more? Literally what is the harm even if straight guys are just doing it to appeal to women??? They’re allowed to try to appeal to women, that’s who they want to date….

The aromantic agenda is a good one.

Go and think about what kinds of relationships you want. Don't think about labels like romantic or platonic or sexual, think purely about what relationships would make you happiest.

When I realized I was aromantic, I was asked things like "Would you still date? Would you have a QPR? Will you ever kiss?"

But the aromantic community didn't ask that. Instead, they focused on "What do you want in a world where anything is possible?"

And I realized I want to be alone, surrounded by friends and family I love who are close enough, I can bring them fresh baked scones when I overbake.

They asked me "What do you want?" and the question was so broad, I could weigh labels in my hand like queerplatonic partner and nonpartnering and significant other. I could look at these and shrug and say, "What I want is to not worry about questions I don't care about." I could shelve these indefinitely. Maybe even forever. And just enjoy being myself.

The aromantic community celebrates exploration. Tells people asking if they are aromantic, "This is a personal decision. Your personal decision. If this label helps you, take it. If this community helps you, stay as long as you need. You don't have to be labelled anything, aromantic or otherwise, unless it would bring you comfort. You don't have to be anything you aren't."

It's a good community with good philosophies born from a unique experience, not rooted in missing out, but in being forced to consider what you want when you don't want what's expected.

so i’ve been thinking abt this post… i have a long history of depression and i think the most important realization that helped me get better was that my inability to care for myself, clean my house, to complete school tasks, etc. was paradoxically a form of self-denial

i thought that me sitting on my butt and being comfortable was me just being irresponsible/lazy and entertaining my whims, but actually it was bc i didn’t realize that i deserve a clean home, i deserve to be taken care of, i deserve to accomplish my goals and crucially, that i am worth the effort that all of that takes

like… when i was at rock bottom i tipped over a container of salt onto my rug and the vacuum cleaner was broken, and essentially went “oh, well… to clean that, i would have to fix the vacuum cleaner and everything… i don’t want to make a fuss, i’m sure i have better things to do… it’s fine, i can walk around it, i don’t mind it, really”. like no, i didn’t want the salt there, but the effort of cleaning it up felt like an unreasonable demand, like an imposition or an inconvenience.and then for like weeks i just lived walking around a slowly spreading pile of salt in the middle of my damn room.

and then something just clicked. i realized that what i was doing was that i had been so deeply taught to ignore my own needs, to not speak up, to not impose, to not cause an inconvenience, that i was doing that to myself. that i had been raised by people who didn’t care and who didn’t have the time and who would rather i just stay quiet in my room and not bother them with my frivolous wants like help and love and care, and now i was treating myself the exact same way. when i was little, if i wanted something, it was wrong and petty and unnecessary and i had nobody to ask for what i wanted.

and i realized that i’m grown up now and i can always ask me. i’m here, and i have time and i care. and i’m allowed to be so petty as to put myself through the whole effort of fixing a vacuum cleaner just to have my room be nicer, and i can absolutely care about myself enough to do it. it’s an effort, and it’s worth it. it’s not an imposition or an inconvenience for me to take care of my needs. it’s what i do. it’s all i’m on this earth to do.

When esteemed researcher Logan Crofter needs the help of a musician, famous saxophone player Roman Sanders gets ready for the most unusual project of his career.

Logan looked over the application again. Roman Sanders, respected saxophone player, winner of the Australian Jazz Bell Awards 2015 and 2018, with record sales in fifty countries. He outshone every other applicant, but that was what was worrying. Logan knew that his budget could not stretch to the kind of money Sanders would make at his average performance. Still, the musician had known their budget when he applied.

Trying not to overthink it too much, he dialed the number.

After a few moments, it picked up. “Hello? This is Roman Sanders speaking,” said a clear, deep voice from the other end and he froze. He had not- expected him to sound like that. Whatever he had expected his voice to hold, it was not a timbre which seemed to be set to the resonant frequency of Logan’s heart.

“Hello? Can I help you?”

“Yes-yes-” he snapped back into focus and cleared his throat. “Yes, this is, uh, Logan Crofter, I am accepting your application. You have reviewed the details?”

“I have! It all seems to be very organised,” Roman replied. Logan felt his cheeks flood with heat.

“It is very organised,” he said stiffly. “It’s not your usual caliber of work, I know, but it is very serious. Very important. To me and others.”

Roman laughed, not like he was mocking Logan, but in a genuine expression of excitement. “I know! It’s important to me too! I always want to do something different, stretch my creativity, so this stood out to me. I think the idea is amazing. How did you come up with it?”

“Oh, you know, research- but more than a little hope. I had to also be creative, in my own way.” Desperate times led to desperate measures, which for Logan were increasingly far from the approval of established methodology.

“Wonderful!”

He was suddenly afraid that Roman could hear his heart racing over the other end of the phone line. “Indeed. Indeed. So, I will email you the relevant audio files, then I can set up the studio for you for the 15th.”

“Of course- I’ll try and immerse myself! Truly get the feel! Any documentaries or anything you can recommend?”

“Oh, I-” Logan adjusted his perfectly straight glasses. “I’ll send you a link to some,” he said in a high-pitched voice. “And I can- set up the studio for you.”

“Thank you, I appreciate it, Logan.”

At the sound of his name in Roman’s voice, he completely short-circuited. “Yesthankyougoodbye-” He hung up.

For a long moment, he stared at the blank screen of his phone almost breathless. I appreciate it, Logan.

He stood up, irritated, and wondered what in the name of Darwin had come over him. Attraction, he supposed. The musician’s voice was simply…attractive.

Would it be egotistical to send Roman a documentary he himself had been interviewed in? It was most informative due to his consultation, but…perhaps it would not look best. Then again, research would probably cause him to stumble upon Logan’s name-

He shook his head. He did not have time to deal with this. There were more important things at stake, and Roman Sanders could wait until the 15th.

When you purchased Lucasfilm you acquired the rights to some books I wrote.  STAR WARS, the novelization of the very first film.  SPLINTER OF THE MIND’S EYE, the first sequel novel.  You owe me royalties on these books.  You stopped paying them.

When you purchased 20th Century Fox, you eventually acquired the rights to other books I had written.  The novelizations of ALIEN, ALIENS, and ALIEN 3.  You’ve never paid royalties on any of these, or even issued royalty statements for them.

All these books are all still very much in print.  They still earn money.  For you.  When one company buys another, they acquire its liabilities as well as its assets.  You’re certainly reaping the benefits of the assets.  I’d very much like my miniscule (though it’s not small to me) share.

You want me to sign an NDA (Non-disclosure agreement) before even talking.  I’ve signed a lot of NDAs in my 50-year career.  Never once did anyone ever ask me to sign one prior to negotiations.  For the obvious reason that once you sign, you can no longer talk about the matter at hand.  Every one of my representatives in this matter, with many, many decades of experience in such business, echo my bewilderment.

You continue to ignore requests from my agents.  You continue to ignore queries from SFWA, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.  You continue to ignore my legal representatives.  I know this is what gargantuan corporations often do.  Ignore requests and inquiries hoping the petitioner will simply go away.  Or possibly die.  But I’m still here, and I am still entitled to what you owe me.  Including not to be ignored, just because I’m only one lone writer.  How many other writers and artists out there are you similarly ignoring?

My wife has serious medical issues and in 2016 I was diagnosed with an advanced form of cancer.  We could use the money.  Not charity: just what I’m owed.  I’ve always loved Disney.  The films, the parks, growing up with the Disneyland TV show.  I don’t think Unca Walt would approve of how you are currently treating me.  Maybe someone in the right position just hasn’t received the word, though after all these months of ignored requests and queries, that’s hard to countenance.  Or as a guy named Bob Iger said….

So I got an idea for a D&D character “resume”

Finished some revisions for my story and then got the idea to make a “resume” for my Tiefling Rogue that I am playing for a Waterdeep  D&D  campaign. I also realized this would probably be a fun way to teach students about making a fun and dynamic resume of their own!

I used a template from Word 2016 to make the resume, and the forgottenrealms fandom page to fill in info like character and location names.
