went to a new optometrist today wearing my squid facts ‘save our freaks’ shirt from @sarahmackattack that has a strawberry squid on it. and i wasn’t even thinking about it but the optometrist walked in and he was like ‘oh what does your shirt say’ so i showed him and he was like ‘oh that’s neat!’ and then i thought he might like to know about strawberry squid eyes since they have weird eyes and he is an optometrist and all. so i was like ‘yeah it’s actually a real kind of squid called a strawberry squid, their eyes are really cool because they have one big yellow-green one and one small blue one’ and he kind of gasped and went ‘oh my god that’s so interesting i wonder why they have that. do you know what their retina composition is like?’ and i watched as he minimized my chart on the computer and started looking up images of strawberry squid and then he googled ‘strawberry squid retina composition’ and he was like ‘sorry we’ll get to your eye exam in a moment i just really want to find out’ LMAO 10/10 optometrist experience will be returning

Pigeon uses Remembrance day poppies to build a nest on top of Anti-bird spikes in 2019. The absolute amount of symbolism going on here is off the charts.

A pigeon. Both in that it's a dove which means peace, but more importantly that pigeons were essential as messengers during WWI. Most famously Cher Ami.

The spikes resembling violence and hostility.

Using Poppy pins made specifically for Remembrance day and all the symbolism of Poppies and WWI itself.

The fact that it stole the poppies from a tomb of an unknown soldier.

The fact it took them to make a nest to lay eggs and raise its babies in.

The fact that it's on the ledge of a church.

The fact that the window it chose to make the nest against is of a wounded soldier.

You couldn't have STAGED a better photo if you tried.

i really wanted to know what was actually up with these cars but this version of this clip is an upload from a satire account that makes fake news stories about the town of lodi california so i dug around for this one a bit.

this is the work of krasnodar-based mechanic Vagan Mikael, and here's his instagram account. this looks to be the original upload of this specific clip

i don't speak russian so whatever is being said in the voiceover in any of these clips is lost to me but, but you can see a lot more high quality images and video of these neat cars. that three stack is up to a five stack at one point. here's a video from quite a few years back of a car whose headlights he replaced with flamethrowers and i feel like however much fire you're picturing, you're probably not picturing enough. looks like they painted a sick dragon on it and are having it melt other cars in some sort of demolition derby. his most recent project seems to be a car that walks on legs

im also a big fan of whatever is going on in this video where he's strapped to the hood of one car controlling another car with a steering wheel sticking out of the back of it that he just sends flying off a ramp. awesome stuff.

slowly growing a list of things grace shows rocky on the journey to erid because grace is NOT a trained therapist the best he's got is a staggeringly significant portion of all human art ever made stored on several hard-drives

first thing: chernobyl (2019 tv miniseries) which they watch in one sitting and then rocky goes a bit catatonic for several awful hours and then shakes himself out of it and refuses to discuss it any further

second thing: a fair maid walking (traditional english folk song roud #264), which is about a man asking a woman to marry him, but she refuses because she's waiting for her long-lost lover. and he says, what if he's dead? what if he's moved on? and she says then i'll be devastated but i'm still waiting for him. and he says, don't worry, you're done waiting, i'm home, it's me. rocky listens to every recording of this song he can find. rocky listens to this song on loop for four days straight. rocky is FINE no they cannot listen to something else
