I think they should release the finale of the Percy Jackson show on January 5th. You know, for my Walker Scobell's birthday.

m thinking about the argument that the pjo show would be better if it was animated, and i know i already kinda talked about it here but i wanna talk about the actual animation aspect

disney, as hypocritical as this sounds, doesnt actually like animation that much, and it especially doesnt like 2d animation- they moved away from that years ago, and i know that when people talk about the pjo show being aimated theyre thinking 2d animation if disney were to make pjo animated, it would not have a fun, cool, artistic artstyle that fits with what the story is about, it would be the classic 3d animation style that not many people on here actually like

this isnt an inherently bad style, but when you think about all the other shows/movies that come out with the same style, and percy jackson in this style, it doesnt seem that interesting.

and im not saying this is a 100% guarentee, and we wont know because its not happening, but making the pjo show animated might actually make room to push away from the darker themes of the series and direct it more towards younger kids, who’ll automatically be drawn in by the animation that they grew up loving a lot of newer animated disney movies are gearing more towards light hearted stuff thats made specifically to shut your mind off. of course this isnt for everything theyre making, but the chances of it happening are pretty decent- especially with how book->film adaptations already take out a lot more of the darker themes, we dont see percy directly decapitate medusa or crusty, we dont see luke trying to feed annabeth or grover to monsters, we dont see luke try to kill percy with a scorpion, sure theres dark things in the show but i can really only think of when luke stabbed percy and later punched him, while the books had more violent things happen that were a slight bit more toned down

the budget is also likely to be a lot lower, as animated movies dont usually go almost even halfway to a million. i couldnt find any exact numbers for an animated show, or a disney animation, but considering theyre starting to like live action more and direct any animation towards kids then i dont doubt that they wouldnt put as much money into the show as would be benificial. maybe theyd still have a good amount of money, but also the show that we have already doesnt even seem to be using their $15mil budget, so why would an animated show be any different?

theyd probably find a few ways to cut corners to make things simpler and easier, possibly cheaper too, in order to try and get as much of the show out as possible because they dont have to worry too much about schedules for the (voice) actors since they dont need to be ‘on set’ for longer, and the chances of overworking the animators would also probably be pretty high because people really dont like animators that much no matter how loved animation itself may be

Anyway i love the shows take on the medusa situation and how things go at auntie ems garden gnome emporium. It always felt weird to me in the books how percy just like. Flat out ignored both annabeth and grover when they said something wasnt right and they should leave, since earlier in the quest she had been deferring to them + was shown to respect annabeth and the fact that she had more experience with the non-mortal world, and percys behavior in that whole scene kind of flew in the face of that and came off as really ooc.

But here they made a point a few episodes before to show sally teaching little percy critical thinking by telling her medusas story, having her consider *why* perseus is thought of as a hero and medusa as a monster, and saying that "not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero, and not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster." (Side note i need to shake the hands of virginia kull and whoever wrote this version of sally, but thats for another post) So when theyre stuck between alecto killing them and medusa offering them food and shelter, percy actually has an established reason for giving medusa a chance *and* tells annabeth about it. Which to me tbh feels more true to her character than how this whole thing played out in the books.
