Love's Echoes - Script Read
Bonus:
i was just scrolling through my twitter today and I saw ALOT of posts from international sknn fans being shocked that our fandom was being complimented on twitter (I think it had smth to do with the entire controversy surrounding a chinese fan and Thai staff in a junior mark fan meet where things got hostile?? I didn't follow the entire situation but apparently the sknn fandom was the first fandom to make a statement regarding it which is why we're suddenly being praised on twt?? I'm not sure about it honestly). I scrolled a bit further to see a Thai fan pitying international iminas for always being hated on 😭 idk whether to laugh or cry as an imina.
Man, my favorite gmmtv ship is JustinKissyourcareergoodbye
Hello everyone do people still like zero day here is my edit hope u like could make an Andre 1ic tha people want
What kind of girls or guys do Cal and Andre like? Are they very particular about appearance?
the army of two doesn't usually care too much about looks—i say 'too much' because we all do it a little. before meeting anyone, the boys might claim that specific characteristics don't matter, but then, the universe proves them wrong: suddenly, they find themselves attracted to someone who has exactly the things they said they didn't care about. ultimately, it’s all about the connection, and when least expected, the army of two finds themselves searching the hallways for that person.
calvin:
girls: he likes someone shorter, but it doesn't have to be a huge difference—three inches is enough. he isn't strict about clothing; colorful clothes might surprise him, but it's not a big deal. cal also doesn't really mind if your hair is long or short. when it comes to personality, he really looks for someone fun to be around who can take care of him: a good listener, empathetic, patient, and someone who knows how to handle problems.
guys: he prefers a guy who is his height or up to two inches shorter. as i mentioned, he isn't strict about clothing; colorful clothes might surprise him, but it's not a big deal. cal would love to see him with his hair a bit longer than usual—long enough to look messy, just like his. ideally, he wants the same qualities he looks for in a girl: someone fun to be around who can also take care of him—a good listener, empathetic, patient, and someone who knows how to handle problems.
andre:
girls: he prefers someone slightly shorter—even just a few inches; four is plenty. also, he has a bit of a weakness for girls with long hair, though he's open to exceptions. when it comes to personality, andre would definitely fall for a girl who is affectionate. he loves it when she initiates contact—nothing too intense, just someone sweet who is responsible and always keeps an eye on him. her style isn't a big deal for him; if she wears colorful clothes, he might wonder at first why he’s so drawn to her, but over time, he’d find the contrast between them really attractive.
guys: he’d still feel more comfortable being the taller one, though it doesn't have to be a big height difference—a difference of just two inches makes him feel more at ease. as for hair, andre doesn't have a specific preference. however, if he grew it out to his shoulders, it would surprise him—it’s just not how he’d imagine him, but he’d still find him handsome. he’d be comfortable with a guy who is serious and kind, someone who knows how to break the rules whenever it benefits them. like with the girls, he loves it when he always keeps an eye on him. he’d love it if they shared a similar style, making it easy to swap clothes.
clearly

Wu is really playing in our faces haha. First the soul binding ritual and now Pete's mother's ring on Niran's left ring finger?
I was really planning on avoiding jumping into any SkyNani or Wu discourse, but they are making it hard for me to avoid.
I don't know exactly what to call what this show is doing, but I don't think it's queerbaiting. If it were an American show I might see it that way, but I think the context of this being a GMMTV series flips the idea of queerbaiting on its head.
I understand queerbaiting to be about using queer subtext as a commercial strategy in order to gain queer viewership without assuming the risks of telling explicitly queer stories.
The "baiting" part of queerbaiting is the bait and switch where it feels like we've been promised queerness that never materializes. Queerbaiting is particularly an issue when there is little queer representation in the media landscape. In the context of scarcity, viewers invest heavily in the possibility of seeing queer romance on screen and then are disappointed (or even angry) when we don't get the payoff that was implied.
GMMTV has produced over a hundred BLs, several GLs, and has queer people and relationships depicted in much of their non-QL content. They have assumed the risks and gathered the rewards of portraying queer romance more than any other mainstream media company I can think of. They are promising and delivering queerness in abundance, and they are not promising explicitly queer romance with their bromance shows.
The trailers and pilots to SkyNani series have never promised us gay romance. It's not queerbaiting because there is no bait and switch. Wu is playfully exploring the blurry lines between platonic and romantic love, which I think is fun and even kind of beautiful.
Is there queer subtext? Yes. Is it queerbaiting? I don't think so.
we are not ready for what comes next.
because so far, the story has been driven by niran's love for pete. he was the one to approach pete, to tell him what he could do and ask for his help. niran said pete had been calling him, but he was the one we saw reach out and ask pete, more than once, to come to him. niran was the one who stuck by pete and bound them together when pete might have been lost. niran was the one to break the jar instead of breaking pete's heart. niran's love has been as loud as his calls when sealing demons and yao.
through it all, pete's love for niran has been quietly answering. pete followed niran, gave him is trust, risking his life and soul over and over without question, calmly accepting that it's absolutely right for theirs to be tied together. niran moved into his house but pete turned it back into a home and made them a family. and when niran was lost, it was pete that called him back and swore he would do it again. pete has been loving niran in a way that seems quiet because it's always been in answer to the love niran has shown.
now that niran can't move forward, it will be pete's love driving the story forward. all the love pete has shown has been a echo of what he's been shown, but with niran trapped in silence, we're about to see just how big and loud pete's love for niran truly is.
i say again, we are not ready
Contrary to popular belief, a show doesn’t have to be a bl to be queer. A show doesn't even have to have romance between two men at all to be queer. A show doesn't even have to ALLUDE to romance at all two men at all to be queer. (Just to cover everything, a show also doesn't have to allude to romance between two women to be queer.)
The point is, "queer" isn't a rigid box applying only to two men in love. "Queer" doesn't apply only to romance either. Sometimes, being queer even includes an explicit LACK of romance.
As a queer person who took seven years to become confident in my queerness because I felt like I was supposed to shove myself into a box to "count," the whole meaning behind being "queer" is that we're different from what the society thinks we ought to be. We're not "normal." And even as being queer and out becomes more common, it's STILL SOMETHING THAT MAKES US DIFFERENT. ITS STILL SOMETHING THAT CAN GET YOU OSTRACIZED FROM YOUR COMMUNITY. ITS STILL SOMETHING WE ARE HAVING TO FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT TO LIVE AS.
And this post is specifically about Wu. The fact that Pete and Niran aren't making out on your screen doesn't make it not queer. Trans rep? Check. A story about a boy who disappointed his grandfather because he wasn't exactly what his grandfather expected and wanted? He didn't behave how he ought? Well, that's something we in the queer community are quite familiar with. Group of outcasts coming together? I mean, come on, that's textbook queer allegory.
The point is Wu is both allegorically and straightforwardly queer, and that's NOT including the allusions to romantic goings on between Niran and Pete.
high school frenemy really is the story of how one boy used love and friendship to undoom everyone's narrative
chadjen was a driving force in getting shin and saint back together; encouraging them both to talk things out and coming up with schemes to trap them together when they refused. once he got them together, he redirected their crazy energy to the rest of their class, encouraging them to help save the others instead of fighting with them.
two rival groups became a found family all because chadjen wanted to give his friends everything they needed, because their friendship was everything to him
They are partners. Full stop.
I'm sorry, but at this point if anyone still thinks Wu is 'just' about friendship or that it is still joking about Pete and Niran being life-partners, I think they might need to take some remedial media literacy studies or something, because that really ain't it. 😅
Yes, there were some jokes and some lampshading at first (and some clearly-panicked denials in the 'doth-protest-too-much' vein, lol). But anyone who has consumed as much fictional media as I have over the course of my life can spot all the tropes, as well as nuances in the acting, and ALL of that points to these two characters being real queerplatonic partners (at the VERY least).
Not only have they already done every single standard romance trope for couples (including couples in non-romance-focused works), and neither have any hint of (nor any interest in) other partners, but the characters themselves are now literally bound by life, death, soul, heart, and RING. I'm sorry but how much more proof does one need at this point? That is not 'friendship,' that is so far beyond 'friendship' that to claim so is just absurd, lol. They are partners. And this is one of the most beautiful depictions of queerplatonic partnership that I have seen.
I love Wu.
You ever get one of the few things your parents left to you, that thing being your mother's jade ring, and then immediately give it to the man you're soulbonded with, who gave you his grandfather's jade necklace (marriage tradition in some cultures), and the first finger he even tries to fit it on is his left ring finger (you know, the marriage one in some cultures) and it fits perfectly, and—
