While Novakids that interact with other races tend to be less forgetful than those in Novakid villages, the opposite is true for Novakids who are alone for long periods of time. It gets so much that some will forget they've sustained a fatal injury and remain alive simply because they forget to die.

novakid hc dump: brands constantly give off a bit of heat?? probably not SCORCHING but still p hot-- if there's wedding ceremonies at all it's usually topped w the spouses gently pressing their brands together rather than an actual kiss, produces steam bc of the heat, it's considered SUPER intimate. ofc some novakids do it outside of those ceremonies, it's not frowned upon but it's sorta discouraged

Ah, I have a headcanon some may find interesting. I apologize, but it's another novakid related one, heh. Basic idea: when nova are born, they are brandless and extremely volatile. In addition to a midwife aiding in the birth, a brandsmith should also be present with a selection of brands ready. Maybe brands work as a sort of stabilizer, but it may take several attempts before a brand binds to a nova? If a suitable brand is not found.. well, maternity craters on the outskirts of town are common.

It takes a lot more damage to actually wound a Floran, but when they are damaged, it takes a lot more work to fix anything. Plants are really hard to fix.

as a novakid dies of old age, and they aren't able to produce enough gases that make up their form, their inner core (like a star's) collapse and causes an explosion akin to a very very small supernova. yet despite not being nearly as big as an actual one, their deaths can still cause quite a bit of damage to their surroundings, depending on the size of the novakid.

despite the fact that a novakid's brand is effectively functional as their brain, the brand itself can take a surprising amount of beating - bending or warping the brand out of shape doesn't affect a novakid like doing so to a brain. symptoms of brain injury only begin to occur when parts of the brand are chipped, corroded, broken, et cetera.

Starborn Novakids either consist of entire stars condensed down to the size of a human which causes them to be insanely heavy, or the star acts as a sort of cookie dough sheet and the novakid is composed of exactly the amount of plasma needed to form a human body, which allows for billions to be made from one star

Novakids brands function as their brains. should it be bent or twisted it can cause serious mental damage or even death

It is nigh impossible for surgery to be performed on novakids due to consisting of plasma. instead their shells must be molded like play-doh to repair damage. as for lost limbs or large sections of the body they must mold it together as well, until the nova can constitute a new shell to replace what was lost. for older novakids this takes a longer time or can be impossible.

Floran can pretty much eat every part of an animal (unless its something like a poison sac) including parts like the bones and skin. Left over parts from animals during their communal feats are almost always because they can also serve a use outside of food purposes.
