i love writing out numbers and then putting them in parentheses like "one (1)" even when i dont need to i think its funny
You know I turned on the sound just to help me understand what was going on and I guess it was exactly what it looked like.
Ooh! Spot the industrial safety device! The worker has to press a 'stab the cheese' button with both hands. This is because if they're doing that, neither of their hands can be within the cheese stabbing zone.
This cheese is being stabbed safely
reblog if you think all tits are perfect
Google says it’s no different than checking IDs at the airport.
This is just another form of censorship, control of what we can/can't see and engage with, and another means of getting our private information.
Alternative forks of AOSP (Android Open-Source Project) which are not maintained by Google and will not be affected by this:
LineageOS (I use this one)
Graphene OS
Functionally they are virtually identical to stock Android. Android began as an open-source project, and these versions are built off of that.
Fuck Google.
this is infuriating as a developer. i should not need to provide my government ID, even if it is only Sometimes, to develop apps. Fuck You.
[source for all of the following]
there are still options for downloading apps from unverified developers, by the way. but from a user standpoint, it is DELIBERATELY obtuse and extremely time-consuming, including a mandatory 24-hour wait period, deterring them from even installing the app(s).
this is meant to deter them from installing unsafe applications, including those distributed by scammers or those with unsavoury intentions, but the vast majority of the time when users look for apps online to sideload they don't want to go through all that trouble for a single app.
i feel it is fair to mention, though, that this process is (or can be) one-time. that makes it no less exhausting.
developers, do not give google what they want. do not feel forced to give them your ID for the sake of a day of user convenience. It's fucking ridiculous.
if you want to use a different package installer on your android phone that's currently still being maintained, i was recently pointed towards InstallerX Revived and it looks very promising
InstallerX Revived (Github)
[Image ID: A picture of the "InstallerX Revived" project website. The title reads "InstallerX Revived A modern Android package installer" It has a bird logo, and an unfurling animated slogan that then reads: "You know some birds are not meant to be caged, their features are just too bright." Down below, it includes links on how to install and set up the app, as well as a dense amount of information about the project that will not be transcribed here due to length. End ID.]
it functions as a replacement for your existing package installer with more robust features, including being able to work as "rooted" without actually rooting your device. make sure to read the dependencies, as you'll need at least one of the other programs to work (shizuku or dhizuku, etc).
as it isn't based around android's issues with trying to get rid of sideloading, the project will continue regardless of android's changes unless those impact the project's ability to actually function. (unlike anyapk which was abandoned after the march update where google announced sideloading would remain.)
the developers speak CH/EN and are active on telegram (which has a built-in translation feature) and friendly; the app so far is very functional and good for purposes beyond just wanting to avoid google's intentionally obnoxious new onboarding process to be able to sideload your own APKs. i definitely recommend it if you want something better than what google has to offer, but can't switch to one of the alternative android OS systems yet.
