Sailor Jupiter!🎀
uurameshii:
“Well, I didn’t know I was dealin’ with royalty.” Yusuke grinned wide, leaning closer to the brunette’s face before he turned his attention back to the meal the two were preparing. “If I had known, I would’ve shown more respect. Y'know, a bow or a kiss to the hand or somethin’.” He teased.
It was always difficult to tell if the detective was simply teasing to get a reaction out of others or if he was speaking the truth. By now, he’d long since learned to mask his emotions with sarcastic and playful remarks, but it was growing increasingly difficult to hide his feelings from Makoto. He’d been drawn to her from the start, but there was something to be said about how she was a seamless blend of both strength and softness in which he’d never seen before.
It was difficult to keep his guard up around someone who made him want to be more vulnerable. He held back out of fear, more so now than ever. Life was complicated enough for a rebellious teenager, but throwing in the task of protecting the world from forces of evil made the thought of pursuing any kind of relationship seem impossible.
“Nah, I’m kidding… You’re still the same ol’ Mako to me. I know things are kinda heavy now, but you’ve got the power to turn this all around. I know that first hand.” After all, he’d managed to get a second chance at life. He was hopeful that she and the rest of the girls would be able to change the course of their history this time around. Hell, if he had to lend a hand, he’d do so, no questions asked. He cared about Mako far too much to stand by if there was something he could do to help her.
“Oh, you mean Kurama and Hiei? Yeah, I trust em both with my life. We’ve all been through enough shit together for me to safely say they’d have my back if I needed em. I mean, Kuwabara and butt heads, but that’s no big. We’re a team now.”
Makoto smiled, appreciating his words. She could tell his character even after only knowing him for a few months at school. And with their new found trust in one another she took his encouragement to heart.
She turned the stove off and distributed the food to their plates, handing one over to him. “It’s amazing to think that nothing has been reported about some of the incidents you guys have dealt with. Makes you wonder what they tell the public?” She gave a chuckle. “I mean people can’t ignore the monsters that run around right?” “What was your last adventure? Anything cool?” She asked and took a bite out of her food.
She needed to check on her friends soon, before they came over looking for her. She had a gut feeling something terrible was brewing, especially after the monster attack today. Mako frowned to herself, trying to focus on the story Yusuke had been talking about.

Yusuke sighed heavily, raking his fingers through his slicked-back hair as his brown hues flickered up to the brunette. After the influx of information the two received on both ends, Yusuke was doing his best to process it all. He was clearly no stranger to the supernatural, but it was certainly an eye-opening experience to see someone he considered to be a good friend mixed up in the world he’d come to accept as his reality.
He made his way into the kitchen to help Makoto cook a quick meal, all the while trying to make sense of the trouble Mako and her friends were mixed up in. He was more than willing to offer any help he could, especially after seeing what she’d been up against back in the arcade.
“So… You’re a princess, huh?” A playful smile tugged at his lips as he playfully nudged her. “Whatcha doin’ hangin’ around a guy like me then?”
She was happy he had seemed to take the truth better then she had initially thought. No yelling, no doubts... She confided in him what she knew so far, and he was still sticking around after everything he had learned about her. Mako watched the food she tossed in the pan in front of her. It had become so late that her stomach had growled while they had been talking, and the least she could do was invite him to stay for dinner. She had also been thinking about his secret he trusted her with. Yusuke had his own trouble that he would get involved in with some friends of his. Truth be told her first reaction had been to want to offer help. Maybe there was something she could do when the time came? Yusuke’s nudge and comment drew her suddenly out of her thoughts with a blush and startle. “What-?! Whats that suppose to mean!” She pouted, thinking his words silly. “You’re perfect company. Princesses have pages or something don't they after all?” She couldn’t keep the straight face, and quickly sputtered into a laugh at her own joke.
“I hope you don’t think of me any different though. I’m still trying to figure out who I am myself. After all, my past self failed her mission, do I want to be her again? And we need to find the Moon Princess before it’s too late..” Mako turned back to the pan to halt her line of thoughts. No use getting depressing before they could enjoy a decent meal. “So demons huh? And you’ve made two of them your friends? Not worried about them betraying you?”

“Yo!” Yusuke grinned, leaning over the brunette’s shoulder to see what she had packed for lunch this time. “Why do you make your food look so cute? You’re just gonna eat it anyway.”
As someone who shared a love for cooking as well, he knew it was important for food to look just as appetizing as it might’ve tasted, but he imagined he’d feel guilty eating something that damn cute. He didn’t want to think about just how long it might’ve taken for her to prepare that little bento. "I gotta hand it to ya, though. That takes some real dedication and skill.“
Mako startled at the unexpected compliment. She had just finished giving Usagi her own bento too before the girl ran off in a rush to find Ami, screaming something about a test tomorrow. She was about to dig in when she looked up at the looming shadow over her. A smile broke her features and she scooted over to make room in case he wanted to sit. “Well, I feel like it’s a way to express myself! I love the idea that cooking is something everyone can learn, and well honestly it makes me happy.” She picked up one of the items with a small face on it. “You could just eat him up.” She paused and then barked out a laugh at her own dumb joke. “I always make sure to bring one to Usagi too, I swear that girl eats more then its physically possible.”
uurameshii:
Yusuke gulped, feeling her warm and soft hand clasp around his own as he gave it a tight squeeze. His head was still reeling from the shitstorm that had unfolded before their very eyes just moments before, but he did his best to remain mindful that Mako wasn’t the only one with secrets. After the brawl with the silver-haired general, he was certain his friend had a number of questions to ask him as well.
“Geez… And here I thought I was the only one keepin’ the city safe. Next time I see Koenma, I’m gonna wring his friggin’ neck!” For once, he’d love to take an enemy head-on with full knowledge of what he was getting into, rather than relying on trial and error to fight. Why hadn’t he told him there were others gifted with special abilities to help protect the city? Wouldn’t that have made his job easier?
Once the two reached the back alley, the detective released her hand and folded his arms over his chest. “Alright– Fess up! What the hell was all that back ther–”
Wait. What? Beryl? Who the hell was that?! Army? What was she talking about? “Woah, woah, hold up! Who the hell is Beryl?” He was going to continue prodding for more information, but couldn’t help but notice her change in stance– Almost as if she was suspicious of him.
While he could understand why Mako would be suspicious, a part of him couldn’t help but feel a twinge of anger. Reflecting on the faces of his peers that stuck their nose up at him and former teachers that aimed to expel him from his previous school, the vibe he felt now was all too familiar. Up until now, Mako was the only one who had never looked down on him. She’d accepted him despite how he’d initially pushed her away, yet standing before her now he felt something completely different.
He mentally chided himself for taking it to heart when he knew he would’ve been just as suspicious had he been in her shoes, but he couldn’t seem to stomp down the feeling brewing inside.
Clenching his jaw, he narrowed his eyes and took a step towards her. “What? You think I’m workin’ with that asshole we fought back there? Tch– Do ya really think I’d run around the same circles with a big-headed prick like that? Do ya think I’d hurt you–” He paused, “O-Or anyone else in that friggin’ place? Geez…” Taking a deep breath, he allowed his hands to drop to his sides.
“I’m a Spirit Detective. The only person I work for is Koenma, ruler of Reikai. I don’t know who the hell that guy who attacked us was, who this Beryl is or why the hell that friggin’ machine sprouted legs and attacked us. I’ve never seen anything like that before. Ghosts, apparitions, and demons, sure, but never a fuckin’ killer arcade game.”
Mako breathed a sigh of relief, and a bit of guilt flooded her. She didn’t like casting suspison of friends... Friends. She still wondered why calling Yusuke a friend was such a big deal to her. She cherished everyone she took under a wing so to speak. But seeing how much her accusation had bothered him, Mako felt the same way. She brushed her bangs out of her face and glanced back at the back door. It was still shut tight, and she didn’t predict that the girls would try and exit this way. She’d check in with them soon. When she turned her attention back to Yusuke is when he dropped his own truth bomb. Words stuck in the back of her throat on what to say. She couldn’t deny that these things existed, not after what he fought with her. But Reikai? An afterlife?? Spirituality was more of Rei’s thing, but Mako knew it was a very heavy implication that Yusuke had just thrown into their friendship. So he was trusting her as well. He had saved her. Mako blinked and put a smile on her face. “It seems like we have a lot to talk about. We should go somewhere with less open ears. We can head to my place. Its not too far from here.” Making sure her school bag was still with her, she stepped around her green friend and looked over her shoulder once to make sure he would follow. “We should move quick if we want to avoid another confrontation with the Dark Kingdom. I’ll explain everything, I promise.” She just hoped he believed her, and wouldn’t make her grow to regret sharing her secret. I mean what if their fates had them cross paths on the opposite sides? What if they ever had to fight? Make took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart and look anywhere but Yusuke’s face. She wouldn’t make judgement on what could happen until she knew exactly what he did. The walk was quick, and Mako lead the way to an apartment building and up to the 6th floor. She hoped it wasn’t odd, and thankfully she cleaned her place this morning so it should still be acceptable for company. With the key in the lock and the door open Mako stood aside to let her friend enter the small one bedroom apartment. It had a warm and modern look with enough windows for light and the various plants she had hanging around. Her bag was tossed onto the small couch, and she leaned against the door. “Alright, well you’ve told me about you... So I’m a reincarnated princess and soldier from Jupiter of the past. Destined to protect and potentially die for the Princess of the Silver Millennium kingdom. We had been looking for her for a long time, and just when we found her, Beryl had kidnapped Prince Endymion from her, and turned him against us all.... The man we fought is called Kunzite, and he is one of her generals. And under the command of Prince Endymion.” Well that was an overload of information. She looked up and locked eyes with Yusuke. Waiting for his reaction or questions to anything.
uurameshii:
“Gotcha! Fuckin’ asshole…” A confident grin stretched across the teen’s face as he watched the general stumble back from the force of his attack. Taking another step forward, he was prepared to deliver a finishing blow when the general’s words made him pause where he stood.
Destined to die? No… He didn’t believe that. He refused to believe that. If there was anything he’d learned from his revival, it was that he was in control of his destiny. He’d be damned if he let anyone determine his fate, or anyone else’s for that matter.
“Tch– Take it from someone who’s had one foot in the grave. Destiny doesn’t mean shit.” He proceeded forward once more, cracking his knuckles as his dark hues narrowed on his opponent. “We’re in control of our own future… And if anyone plans on standin’ in the way of that, they’ll fuckin’ answer to me.” He extended a hand to reach for the other male, but the powerful wind knocked him back. Yusuke stubbornly clung to a nearby arcade game to fight against the strong gust of energy, but it was no use. The man was gone before he could reach him.
“Damn it! We almost had him!” Yusuke’s hands dropped to his sides as a frustrated growl left his lips. He still hadn’t the slightest clue just who those strange enemies were or why they were after Mako, but he could only hope she’d explain now that everything was out in the open. Hell, he was sure he’d have a lot of explaining to do now as well.
The detective let out a sigh of relief, feeling the unnatural shift in energy finally dissipate. “Well… at least it looks like everything’s back to norma– HEY!” Yusuke allowed Mako to yank him towards the back of the arcade, no questions asked. He might’ve had a short temper when it came to pachinko, but there was no way in hell he’d take the fall for the arcade damages. Brown hues flickered over to the pen she had at hand, watching as she’d returned to her school uniform in the blink of an eye. “Wait– What the fu–” Yusuke was cut off mid-sentence as Mako started towards her friends, leaving Yusuke all too confused.
“Alright– Mind tellin’ me what the hell is goin’ on here? Because between you parading around in a frilly ass short skirt, that arcade machine tryin’ to square up and that pompous asshole threatening us, I’ve got a shit ton of questions.”
Mako watched as her friends slowly stirred, as if waking from a dream. She heard Yusuke behind her, barking his questions and asking some very important ones at that. There would be no way to do this is Usagi and them woke up right now. Mako looked back at Yusuke and grabbed his hand, not thinking about how rough and nice they felt to hold. Boys.
“Give me a second to get us out of here before I explain.” The back door was down the hallway, and thankfully always unlocked by Matoki. He was never too worried about kids sneaking in. After all he knew almost everyone anyhow. As soon as the door shut she leaned against it, reveling in the silence of the now soundless alley. After pausing for a moment to still her beating heart and think of what she had to do next, Mako looked up to see Yusuke. She couldn’t forget him stepping forward to defend her from Kunzite. What sort of attack was that too? Was he tied into all of this? Did he know Mamoru? “First things first, who are you loyal to? Are you part of Beryl’s army?” It was a sudden change in her demeanor, and Mako stepped forward with her shoulders back and head high trying to look intimidating. If he had tricked her....
