IT’S A big flat— more space than he knows what to do with ( later, he’ll come up with a few ), and certainly grander than his little rustic penthouse. He shouldn’t be here. There’s so much room, so many walls, he can hear her voice echo through the corridor. Her husband had called. She’d excused herself to take the call at least five minutes ago, and five minutes later the conversation he overhears escalates. She’s stopped trying to speak in hushed, heated tones. Screaming into her phone, now. Troy had nearly forgotten how loud she could get.
He steps in just as she’s flinging her phone at the wall. Alarmed, even vaguely INTIMIDATED, Troy moves towards her anyway. Her eyeliner is running. She’s crying. He wishes he knew what to do, how to fix this, but that doesn’t really stop him from trying. Closes his fingers around her shoulders and pets her hair and tries. “You’re not a mess. You’re fine. You’re the Sharpay Evans. Stop crying, stop— you’re going to be okay. Deep breaths, alright? Listen, just— shhh—please—”
His hands are cupping her face when he kisses her. It’s an accident. He just wants her to stop crying. He just wants to stop wondering what it’d feel like, he’s been wondering since high school and now, at least, he doesn’t feel so guilty over it. Brief, firm, SILENCING, his mouth is pursed against hers. She stops crying. His half-baked plan works, somehow. It actually works. It works a little too well. He should leave. He really should. He kisses her again, instead. Slower, firmer, their face nearly flushed together, until he’s addled with her perfume and tastes her lipstick, her tears, until she’s sinking her teeth into his lip.
Lonely, lonely hands, they work against him, against her. Fingers curling through her hair. Grips her waist and pulls her close. He’ll keep her quiet for a little longer, until she’s stumbling onto his lap and neither of them are quiet at all.

( TROY ):
HE LEANS back against his seat, the fabric of his jacket stretching around biceps as he folds his arms over the expanse of his chest. He’ll try to seem casual, unperturbed. Like the past year hadn't fazed him ( a lie ). But he’s good at internalizing. That hasn't changed. That she even remembers what he’d said about her shoes makes his mouth stretch further up against his cheeks. His grin turns sheepish, and maybe there’s a touch of guilt there, too.
He brings a hand up to rub the back of his neck, chuckling sheepishly. “Well. To be fair, we spent a lot of time together that summer. A guy needs his space sometimes, y’know?” Ironic that he’s saying this now, when he’s so CERTAIN that the last thing he wants to do is leave. He can’t think of anywhere else he’d rather be. He realizes this suddenly, like a revelation. “If it’s any consolation, I’m not going anywhere.”
He stares. Gauges the expression on her face. Troy doesn’t doubt that she meant every word, but it’s odd to talk about it now. That it’s brought up at all. He thinks to brush it off, hates to make others WORRY about him. “Hey, no explanation needed. I get it. I wasn’t really available at the time, either. —————–me, too. I was worried about you. Pretty stupid, huh? You’ve always been good at bouncing back.” He admires that. Envies it, even. He shakes his head, deems it prudent to change the subject. Grins. “So, I hear Ryan’s an uncle now?”
THE EXPRESSION ON her face changes almost immediately at the mention of her daughter. She's grateful for the subject change, but too prideful to admit to it, so she eases herself into the new subject with practised finesse. And it isn't that she's really bothered talking about the divorce or the tabloids or whatever else was circulating about her now. She has a thick skin. Sharpay's gotten good with dealing with criticisms. But it's a little early in their reunion and finds the subject matter a little too heavy at the moment. A lighter subject was needed, and she's glad he has the foresight to do so.
❝------You heard about that, huh? Yeah. A girl. Her name is STAR. She’s my star. Ryan adores her though. Spoils her rotten. If you thought I was bad in high school, just wait until she’s older. God, I just....❞ She cups her hands under her chin, a grin splitting her features. ❝She’s the best thing that ever happened to me, Troy.❞ It's spoken with more unabashed fondness than she would have ever dared to speak with when she was younger. It isn't just clear in her words how much she loves that little girl. Her whole countenance seems to brighten just talking about her. ❝I’ll have to introduce you sometime. You’d love her.❞
A laugh escapes. She takes another sip of her coffee. ❝ But seriosuly. Enough about me. I wanna hear about you. I mean, what have you been doing lately? Still tight with the old Wildcats? I haven't heard from them in ages.❞

Extroverted Thinking (Te): Sharpay knows how to get what she wants. She is confident, bold, and assertive to the point of being aggressive. Her songs are great demonstrations of this (“Bop to the Top” and “I Want it All”, specifically). She constantly bosses people around and becomes vicious when her plans fall apart (as seen in HSM 2 when she sees Gabriella at Lava Springs).
Introverted Intuition (Ni): She has clear vision of what she wants, whether it’s to be the star of the musical or to win Troy over. She has a knack for knowing which strings need to be pulled in order to get what she wants, as well, for example, telling Troy about Gabriella’s Honors Program letter and telling Ms. Darbus what a good idea it would be to reschedule the callbacks to a time that will make it difficult for any competition to be there.
Extroverted Sensing (Se): This is best demonstrated in her flashy sense of style and love of performing. The way she moves on stage, the way she sings and dances, and her ability to live in the moment while performing are examples of how she uses Se.
Introverted Feeling (Fi): Sharpay sees herself as a unique individual, and prides herself on it. Her actions are based on what she wants for herself with little regard with who else will be affected.

TROY HAD left their rehearsal with the excuse that he just needed some air. They were all given a thirty minute break anyway, though he doesn’t return even then.
He’d needed a moment to himself. To meditate—- or tear his hair out. It’s a coin toss, at this point. He feels as if the comfort of privacy and solitude is a luxury he can’t afford anymore. Troy usually enjoyed the sense of togetherness, the camaraderie of being a part of a social group, but between working to appease his friends, his parents, Sharpay–— his own mind isn’t even a safe haven anymore. Conflicted, preoccupied with indecision. He’s stretched thin and buried in expectations from all directions.
The butchered song, the WEDDING dress, they were the last straw. Sharpay, grinning, swaying, a bouquet in her hands, dressed in a garish white dress and veil. He definitely has no imagination when it comes to nuptial fashion, and that just makes it worse. It’s burned into his retinas. The vision jarred him then, and it jars him now, despite his best efforts to forget.
