this was exactly the reason why maya and jim would end up tag-teaming in the horror movie and being among the first to die, most likely.

"if a demon is dragging me out of bed at three am for pancakes, he's getting the newspaper to the face." his first mention of the demon may have initially earned a 'bro, what the fuck' sort of look from maya, but not before the rest of her words followed.

but sometimes you just have to cut your losses in a debate with a pat on the shoulder and giving her a "bless your heart, kiddo," to maintain your own sanity. and make a mental note to have someone give her a psych eval later because what in the actual fuck, maya?
