Misty Summer Morning in Berk

Hiccup didn’t remember the last time he visited this shore North of Berk, near Göthi’s house, nor did he remember the last time he played in any water simply for the sake of it. It was Jack’s doing, of course, that he was here now. Unsteadily, he followed the boy, careful to keep his metal foot from sinking too far into the sand.

Jack laughed as he cartwheeled into the shallow water, splashing it towards the Night Fury. Toothless bound up and followed his lead, nipping at the water, chasing droplets with his forked tongue.

The dragon rider had to admit, their excitement was endearing. Their joy was his, if only for today. But he secretly hoped that there would be many days like this, where it was just the three of them and the rest of the world stayed far away.

First picture is a set of practices (angles, graying, lines, color) mainly inspired by my fic The Light Across the Tunnel where Hiccup embarks into witchhood to save Jack from Pitch's influence (that's Jack on the right down corner BTW 😓).

There's also some Hijack yuri inspired by a convo and Dragoncup rescuing Jack from a forest fire caused by the other dragon berkians that were hunting the winter spirit.

How did Hiccup spend his thousand + years as a spirit?

This question has been swirling in my mind for more than a month.

Of course chapter 43 of OTNWAS destroyed me (in the best way, kudos to @jjackfrost for creating THE masterpiece <3) I really needed to let my feelings out and bring Hiccup's past to light.

There are some scenes with Jack, but I intentionally decided to focus on the first thousand years of Hiccup and Toothless as wind spirits and Hiccup's life on Berk, with his family and friends. And the loss that came with it.

(AND I KNOW I KNOW, the ending might be a bit bitter, but if you watch the animatic backwards it finishes with Hiccup who finally recognizes Jack <3)

An assortment of yet more Hijack thingies. I got hooked on the idea of a half dragon Hiccup from a chat in the Hijack server yesterday, so you might be seeing more of that soon ☺️.

Finished listening to Snow Crested Shrines, narrated by @santathegrey (which TYSM because I am such a slow reader, I would've never gotten to finish this fic or OTNWAS)

I made these doodles while listening the chapter where Jack comes to the Great Hall when Hiccup calls upon him. I was so ticked by how Stoic was immediately able to recognize his son was smitten 😂

I really loved how Jack had a lot of bracelets and gifts that made sound with the wind— it makes him closer to a deity in my eyes; and it's really fitting for his character ☺️

Idk if this has been done before— I'm so new to the fandom, but: I had this idea where Hiccup is a Fall wind sprite, who saves Jack (pre transformation) from an untimely end, and completely blows him away! Both are surprised— Hiccup is seen for the first time and Jack is seeing a wind sprite!

I imagine that they get to play together, thus Jack tells his sister that the wind is his friend and then she can see Hiccup too and it's all fun and games until winter comes and Jack falls into the ice.

If anyone else has thought of this, I'd love to know!

I love how Hiccup's warm tones contrast to Jack's. I like how Jack's mischievousness can lift up Hiccup so nicely 😭. I love their dynamic so much, I wish I had dived into this ship back when it was most talked about.
