Ray and I are still figuring this out -- suffice to say, I work fulltime at a minimum wage job and she’s a fulltime student, so the likely answer is no, probably not. We’re so glad you like the comic and we hope we can give you more content soon. :) -- Sheva

I really like what you did so far but I haven't read a lot of pre52 comics. I'm really into Jason so I know a lot about him, but less familiar with Roy and Kori outside of rhato, young Justice and teen titans cartoon. Will I be able to understand and catch up with what will be in this comic?

So, I’ve talked a lot about how I think comics are incredibly inaccessible to new readers, especially because of how ridiculously convoluted they are. Our hope is that SATO is...not that. It’s going to be a single contained story written and drawn by exactly two people (possibly with some assistance), so you’re not going to have to read tie-ins or wonder about the plot lines of other characters because they’re in other comics that we don’t write. 

If you’ve never read any pre-52 comics, I think you’ll be able to understand everything that goes on in SATO. What you might be missing are nuances about character’s personalities and pre-established relationships that were scrapped in New 52 -- Kory in particular lost a ton of character, pathos, and history in the reboot (though Roy and Jason obviously didn’t emerge unscathed either). We have recovered as much of that in this timeline as possible.

That said, SATO timeline is also different from pre-52 comics. Although there will be several allusions made to pre-52, that history stretched on in a way that was long and convoluted, too. We’ve updated it to suit a pretty specific timeline, so one thing I’d say is that, while SATO should be perfectly comprehensible to you, if your goal is to educate yourself about pre-52 comics, we won’t be emulating them in exactitude.

are you going to have roy be an ex-heroin addict, or an ex-alcoholic in sato? honestly i felt so connected to roy and his struggle with heroin and was really dissapointed when the new 52 just up and switched it like they were virtually the same thing. :/

Yeah, we were pretty annoyed by that too. In sato, roy’s addicted to heroin because that’s what it always was in the pre-52 comics and we don’t really love how lobdell and dc treated that like it was fine to just swap that out with [insert addiction here]. His arc will deal a lot with what drove him to that in the first place; dealing with addiction as a symptom of emotional pain and isolation rather than as some kind of moral or spiritual impairment. -- Sheva

I have always been saying how DC let a great opportunity go in not including Damian into Jason's arc while Talia is such a big part of his second life, so it makes me SOOOO happy to see them interact
