she couldn’t stop smiling now, not that the young woman really wanted to. at h- er mother’s side as they walked toward- s the front door of their home, ashtyn gr- abbed the handle and opened the door f- or her mother.

“That sounds like a perfect way to spend the day. We can get lunch too, if you’d like. Mani-pedis can be saved for last. You’ll just have to be careful if you go into his shop. I’m sure you can do that, at least for awhile. Manicures never last forever.”

❝ yes! lunch would be great. where would you want to go, then? and i think i can manage being careful when going in dad’s shop. for once, i’d like my nails to last a little while. look pretty. ❞

“Then we’ll go to Europe.” She smiled. “If I remember correctly there’s forty-nine countries, so make a list of which ones you really want to see first and we’ll go from there.” Jesy was excited to be able to do something nice for her sister, especially given the circumstances. Wiping the tears from the younger’s cheeks, she kissed the top of her head. “Come on, let’s go pack.”

she may not have been smiling, but the young girl was more than happy to be given this opportunity. and with her sister, n- o less. finally, a small smile formed on her lips. ❝ i think i ca- n do that. do you have any favorites you want to see? i want to go to germany... and england. ❞ among many others. with a n- od at her sister about packing, ashtyn hurried off to her room j- ust as she asked one last thing. ❝ when are we leaving? tomo- rrow? ❞
