apologies for being absent as of late.  past couple weeks have been very busy at work.  hoping things calm down a bit after this week  ( sept 7-11 ).    i am going to start queueing drafts as i finish them so there’s at least some writing on this blog though.

𝙼𝙴𝚃𝙰 //  tony stark’s mannerisms :  body language.

1.    extreme openness.     tony does lots of big gestures, open arms, relaxed postures.  he’s confident and comfortable in just about any scenario and that open body language conveys it to others.  even if he’s not 100% comfortable, he fakes it.  tony is a showman and his posturing is a big part of that.  on the rare occasions he does have a more closed-off body language, it’s more often an indication that he’s frustrated/irritated than anything else.  ( i.e. closed off body language means something different coming from tony than it would, say, bruce banner who may just be uncomfortable being in a given scenario. )

2.    eye contact (or lack thereof).    quickest way to determine if tony takes you seriously :  is he actually looking at you when you talk ?    if not, that’s a signal that tony doesn’t find someone important enough to pay attention to.  be that a foe, a politician, a nosey reporter, whatever.  now, really, he’s almost always paying attention, but he’ll purposefully look away to give the illusion that he’s disinterested, that this person isn’t worth his time.    key point though:  he doesn’t look down.  he looks to the side.  breaking eye contact downward is a more submissive posture.  tony uses a lack of eye contact as a dominant move.  it’s dismissive.  ( big difference. tony’s not submissive to anyone. period )   

3.    he touches everything.    this is a tricky one.  it’s two-fold.  1) it can be aggressive / possessive / dominant.  ( he does a lot of that kind of posturing )    touch is a quick way to test or assert his position.  is anyone going to tell him to stop?  or can he do what he wants?   he lays a hand on something he knows he probably shouldn’t just to see what the reaction(s) will be, to see where everyone in the room falls in the hierarchy.     2) it can also convey the classic warmth, familiarity, camaraderie.  he’s very comfortable with physical affection, including with friends.  being handed things is a different story though. it’s a thing.
