please remember that each fic you read represent countless hours the author has spent creating something for you to enjoy. tell them how much you enjoyed reading it. pop into their ask box on anon, write a novel in the reblogs, comment a string of incoherent letters or emojis. I promise it makes our day and is the fuel that keeps us going.
each fic will feature a symbol representing what they will include, or eventually include, but individual parts on this list will not -- you are responsible for your own media consumption so please read the warnings on each post.

Hi! I don't know how active you still are on here but I just need to let you know how in love I am with the way you write Damon!
Just binged through your fics and how you manage to make him soft for the reader but still keep him Damon especially with the themes of trasitioning into a vampire by force or by choice in transition and decisions, decisions was lovely to read! So enamoured with the way he comes across as such a comfort.
And in particular the tension building between Damon and reader but also the intimacy of the blood sharing and sex scene in hunger was absolutely delicious and so satisfying!
(As a side note: A (road-)trip being mentioned in two of the fics has me imagining an incredibly fun and wild time of sharing milkshakes and blood and people and dancing the night away in little hidden away clubs with live music and compelling themselves into concerts and art galleries and everyone being unable to reach them until they either pop back into town every now and then or send postcards from weird places like Hell or Slaughterville)
I hope you have a lovely day, thank you for sharing your fics (and for the brainworms)!
ok this made me tear up omg this might be the nicest thing Iâve ever received across both of my blogs đ„č
I am definitely not as active on here as I probably should beâIâm currently deeeep into marvel brain rot right now and Iâm actually working on a fic that is like⊠basically a novel right now and Iâve pretty much disappeared from tumblr on this blog and my main one :(
but!! it is fall, and thatâs when I usually do a rebinge of tvd so I might get reinspired to write more within this fandom!! I do love writing for damon and within this world in general
but!! I also know myself very well and Iâm not going to promise anythingâmy writing juices havenât been flowing as freely in general lately and when they are theyâre fully going to my behemoth of a bucky fic
but regardless of all thatâthank you so much for sending this. it truly made my day and I love that even though Iâm not very active here anymore that people are still reading and enjoying my ficsâit really does mean a lot to me!!! â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
hey!! i just read avalanche and i was wondering if you would ever write for romantic stefan x reader?? iâve been reading your damon fics and i think theyâre amazing !
I sure would!
now, donât get me wrong, Iâll always be a damon girl but the older I get the more I realize stefan is probably who Iâd actually choose lmao thereâs just something about that quiet steadiness (when heâs got all his marbles) that is so damn attractive
I am currently working on a bucky barnes fic for my main blog thatâs quite the behemoth but eventually I definitely want to write some romance for stefan!!
laughing at the horrible, angst filled fic idea I just had about reader and Damon being very on/off and their relationship being completely derailed by Katherine showing up. thereâs normal mystic falls chaos going on and Katherine is only making it worse, and in the middle of running around and trying to fix things reader spots Katherine and Damon talking and in a moment of anger/weakness reader runs into the room and snaps Katherineâs neck just to neutralize her for a whileâŠâŠâŠ except it was Elena, not Katherine and thankfully sheâd had blood in her system but now reader has to explain to her best friend that her jealousy and annoyance is why she ruined her life
my blog finally got a facelift!! you might have noticed I finally created a masterlist which is now pinned to my profile so you can find all of my works easily (not that there's very many)
this blog hasn't really been my priority lately and I'll admit I haven't really written anything vampire diaries related in a long time but I wanted to make this post to say that I'm not abandoning this blog! I love writing within this universe, I just have a few other fics that are taking my focus right now
if you like my writing, my main blog has a ton of fics in various fandoms that you can check out to see if there's anything over there that interests you :) @vivalas-vega
in the meantime, keep sending requests! I will eventually get to all of them even if it takes me a little while :)
hi what are your rules on what ur comfortable writing?
hi nonny!!
I donât really have any rules, you can always send the request and if itâs something Iâm not comfortable writing Iâll always see if I can adapt it into something I am or I will just let you know if I canât make it work
but as of right now there isnât really anything Iâm not comfy writing, I think it all just depends!!
hi hi !! a new fic, slightly different than anything I've put out so far! no romantic undertones here - just good old fashioned platonic love. I'm deep into my rewatch and was inspired by what a good friend Stefan is and here we are. I wrote this super fast and didn't really proofread so hopefully you enjoy !!
The hum of the lights around you was grating, a constant reminder of just how much you could hear now, and you were worried it was going to be the thing to unravel you completely. If this were a week ago you wouldnât have been able to pick up on the frequency, but this wasnât a week ago. Every time you shut your eyes the events played out like a horror movie, each scene burned into your memory and igniting a fiery swell of pain every time the film rolled. Youâd turned, at the hands of someone who used you to prove a point.
Youâd thought the point would be your death⊠that after holding you hostage and letting your friends chase their tails for days on end the point would be your demise, another loved one ripped from their grasp in order to bend them to your attackers will but youâd been sorely mistaken. The point was making you just like them. The point was to ruin your life, not end it, because now you were frozen in time forever, a walking reminder of how theyâd messed up, how theyâd failed you. You were reduced to a lesson, your humanity stripped from you yet as you ripped cords from the wall and threw lamps on the ground to shatter you felt every human emotion on overdrive. Anger, fear, guilt⊠all crashing over you and weighing you down like an avalanche.
You hadnât left the house in days⊠you couldnât. Everywhere you went all you smelled was blood, all you heard was heartbeats and you were terrified. You had urges and desires coursing through your veins you were still struggling to understand and would never be able to rationalize. You never wanted to be the cause of someone elseâs pain, the cause of someone elseâs death and you knew the second you left your house it would only be a matter of time. Caroline had brought blood bags immediately following your transition, it was enough to keep you functioning and youâd consumed enough alcohol to kill a human a dozen times over in hopes of quelling the cravings for something warmer.
But they were still there, you knew they would be⊠youâd heard Stefan and Caroline talk about it enough as a human, you didnât even need the crash course when it was suddenly your turn. You were driving yourself up a wall trying to wrap your head around how this had all happened, how seemingly in the blink of an eye everything had changed. Your best friends were vampires, you didnât hate them, you didnât think they were monsters, but you hadnât wanted this for yourself. You supposed it was just another thing that was a matter of time. Everyone in your life was supernatural, everyone you loved and had laid your life down for dozens of times was just shy of human. Perhaps it was naive to think you ever had a choice, that you had the privilege to want anything.
You hadnât wanted much before the Salvatoreâs came back to town. You were the shy, reserved girl on the sidelines of your friend group⊠if your parents hadnât been so close with everyone elseâs you knew you would have never been in their orbit, but the childhood bond was difficult to break and you found yourself continually pulled along until you were right in the middle of a world you thought only existed in bad movies. Youâd never thought about what college you wanted to go to, what you wanted to study or where you wanted to travel⊠it wasnât that you were lost or without purpose, it was just that your parents did the best they could with a surprise kid they never intended on having, and you found yourself shrinking to be as little a burden as possible.
If you were being honest with yourself it wasnât just the cravings that were keeping you locked inside⊠you didnât want to face your friends, and you didnât want to face Stefan. There was enough going on, everyone had gone through this and figured it out one way or another. There was no need to add your melodrama to everyoneâs plates and you knew that as soon as you faced him heâd see right through the facade youâd desperately been trying to piece together the last couple days. The facade that portrayed you as being okay, in control and undeterred by the sourest lemon life had offered you. You knew you needed to push through and get over it, but you also knew you needed time to figure out how to convince everyone you were doing just that while you found your footing.
Stefan knew you better than anyone, as you did him⊠you reminded him of Lexi so much it hurt, and he brought out the new you, the one no one knew could exist before him. He was your best friend, and he made you fun. He shifted your perspective and taught you how to let go every once in a while⊠he taught you how to want. When heâd shut off his humanity and given in to the darkest parts of himself, when heâd closed himself off so entirely to Elena, it was you who brought him back. It was you who pushed yourself to the brink of your boundaries to pull him off the ledge, and it had been you who held him when he finally let it all back in⊠and when you lost your parents and wished more than anything you had a switch to flip it had been him to keep you afloat, to keep you from slipping back into that old version of yourself who was timid and quiet, the girl who went with the flow instead of stopping and considering what she wanted, and what she needed.
Another lamp went crashing to the floor masking a knock on the door and at the sound Stefan let himself in, quickly finding you in your bedroom surrounded by broken glass and still you hadnât noticed his presence. It had been days since youâd checked in with anyone and while he knew you wouldnât be in good shape he hadnât anticipated finding you like this. So wrapped up in your own mind you were completely oblivious to your surroundings and he felt guilt for you being in this position, and guilt for being relieved to see you standing there in one piece.
âHey, why donât we sit down?â he asked softly, placing his hands on your arms from behind you and you were quick to react, spinning and pinning him to the wall by his throat before you registered it was him and you stumbled backwards shaking your head.
âStefan⊠Iâm- Iâm sorry, I-â you started but you didnât know how to finish⊠you tried to shake it off, to find some bit of calm confidence that suggested you were fine but it was pointless.Â
âItâs okay, everythingâs okay,â he replied, and it passed over your features so fast anyone else would have missed it but he didnât⊠the way you winced at his statement. Nothing was okay, you werenât okay, and he was quick to cross the room and pull you into him but you werenât going down without a fight⊠as Stefan brought you out of your shell, helped you find who you really were everyone quickly realized that was someone who was stubborn and hellbent on seeing things through her way.
âWhat are you- Iâm fine,â you said, pushing him off you and running a hand through your hair. âWhatâs with the drop-by?â Your breathing was erratic and you were losing your grip on the thread holding you together, with each passing second you were slipping further and further into everything youâd been trying to hold at armâs length.
âYouâre not fine,â he said, âitâs okay not to be, you donât need to hide this from me,â he tried to reason and despite everything in your body language contradicting you, you dismissed him anyway.
âIâm not hiding, Stefan.â You let out a soft gasp as you tried to walk across the room only to have a shard of glass dig into your bare foot and he reached a hand out to stabilize you but you pushed him off once again. âItâs just glass, Iâm not some fragile human anymore,â you said and the words knocked the wind right out of you. It was the first time youâd said it aloud. You werenât human anymore. Suddenly it all hit you, the avalanche finally smothering you beneath its weight and you felt exactly what you had when your parents died⊠that wish to turn it all off and of course Stefan saw it clear as day.
âHey, come on⊠take a breath,â he said softly, catching you before you fell to your knees. Your chest was heaving as tears welled and streamed down your cheeks, your desire to hold it together outmatched by the relief of finally letting go. He scooped you up and in the blink of an eye you were on the couch, in the only room seemingly untouched by your warpath. âYouâre okay, I promise this is normal⊠youâre adjusting,â he reassured but it did the opposite and you let out a humorless laugh as you whizzed across the room and wiped at your tears.
âThatâs the thing, Stefan,â you choked out. âNone of this is normal!â Your arms shot out as if to gesture around you. âI died, but I didnât stay dead. What about any of this is normal?âÂ
âEverything is heightened right now, and bottling it up isnât-â
âDonât you dare with the everything is heightened right now, donât you think I know that? What choice do I have but to bottle it up? Everything is still going to shit, the wheels of time may have stopped turning for me but everyone is still in danger. My transition doesnât change anything.âÂ
âIt changes everything, itâs okay to acknowledge that,â he said, cautiously closing the distance between you as if you were a deer ready to bolt at any moment⊠and quite frankly, he wasnât convinced you werenât. âYou are allowed to acknowledge that, you do have a choice.â
You laughed again, feeling like you were on the brink of hysteria as you paced in front of him. âI have a choice? When have I ever had a choice, Stefan?â
âYou have to say it, you have to let yourself feel it or it will consume you⊠please, just let me in,â he pleaded, now right in front of you and when you looked up at him with wide terrified eyes he was certain his heart had broken at the sight.Â
âI never wanted this, Stefan,â you whispered, voice wavering. âI never wanted to be a vampire.â
âI know,â he said, and this time when he wrapped his arms around you, you let him. He pulled you to the floor and held you close as you let yourself fall apart completely, finally letting go and letting yourself feel what youâd be desperately staving off and his hands soothingly moved through your hair, along your back, down your arms⊠trying to make you feel as comfortable and safe as he possibly could.Â
When your sobs finally subsided and your breathing finally leveled out he pulled back slightly to cup your face between his palms, forcing you to look at him. âI am so sorry that this happened to you,â he said softly, voice thick with emotion and eyes watery at seeing you in so much pain. âIâm sorry I didnât protect you better, and I am so sorry that you had your choice ripped away.â His thumbs swiped along your cheekbones, wiping your silent tears. âBut I promise you, youâre going to get through this and youâre going to be okay. I will help you, you donât have to do this alone.â
âWhat if Iâm not okay? What if IâmâŠâ you trailed off, not wanting to hurt him and drag him down with you.
âLike me?â he finished and you nodded softly, trying to look down at your hands but he didnât let you. âCaroline and I will teach you⊠no one expected you to figure this all out on your own,â he said, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. âWhy did you shut me out?âÂ
âI didnât⊠Stefan, I donât know who I am anymore, I donât know how to do anything anymore, I didnât want to dump this on your-â
âI know who you are,â he interrupted, voice firm. âI will remind you every day if you need me to⊠and you are never dumping anything on me, please donât ever think like that again.âÂ
You nodded, unsure of what to respond before curling back into his chest and letting out a soft sigh. âThank you,â you decided on as his hand rested on the back of your head holding you close and you let the sound of his steady heartbeat ground you.Â
âSweetheart, you pulled me back from the depths of hell,â he chuckled.Â
âOh, so this is just repaying the favor?â you asked, looking up to narrow your eyes at him.
âYeah, figured I owed you one,â he teased and you rolled your eyes. âYou donât need to thank me,â he added earnestly. âYouâre my best friend, whatever burdens you burdens me. Thatâs how this works.âÂ
âYeah,â you sighed, laying your head back down, âbut it was so much easier when it was always you in distress,â you replied and he squeezed your waist playfully causing you to jerk at the sudden attack. âAm I always going to feel this way?â
âNo, youâve been a vampire for less than a week⊠this is a major adjustment, itâs going to take time but eventually you figure out how to manage it. Youâre going to be okay, you just have to give yourself room to grow⊠no more disappearing and going it alone.â
âIt was a little dramatic wasnât it?â you chuckled and he couldnât help but join you.
âNo, dramatic was breaking every lamp you own,â he replied and you let out a full laugh now. âCan I ask why just the lamps?â He hadnât missed the fact that every other breakable had remained intact.
âThe hum,â you replied. âIt was getting on my nerves.â You both fully succumbed to your laughter over the ridiculousness and it felt good to feel something other than despair⊠It felt good to poke fun at the situation.Â
âCome on,â he said, pulling you to your feet and smoothing your hair back into place. âYou need to get out of this house, and Iâm pretty certain if you donât Elena is going to light this place on fire and smoke you out.âÂ
âAlright alright,â you said, holding your hands up in surrender, moving to head for the front door but he gave you a skeptical look. âWhat?â He only looked you up and down, which forced you to do the same to yourself.
âI love you, but you need a shower.â He pushed you back down the hallway and you grabbed the nearest object, which happened to be a book, and hurled it at him with expert precision.
âYeah, fuck off,â you replied, waving your hand at him before disappearing into the bathroom and you let out a sigh as you rested against the closed door. Nothing about this would be easy, and you still had a long way to go, but you felt better than you had in days.
hii! first of all, your writing is amazing !! i rarely find anything decent in this fandom and no one seems to be writing for these characters anymore so coming across your blog made my day haha. i was wondering if youâd consider writing a long fic or something like a rewrite of a few seasons centred around damon x reader where the oc is elenaâs best friend and part of the mystic falls gang?
omg thank you!! đ„ș
Iâm actually currently working on something kind of like this! Iâm still working out what season I want it to start in but hereâs the basic premise:
Reader left town to spend a year (or several depending on the season) traveling Europe and returns to Mystic Falls having discovered a whole new world and with a secret she canât tell anybody đ
i'm back !!! I needed to write a damon one-shot while I work on a new fic and this just tumbled right out of me lol
hunger / damon salvatore x reader
word count: 3.1k
warnings: everything??? drinking, swearing, blood sharing, oral (m and f receiving), unprotected p-in-v, a tiny bit of degradation?? this is self indulgant filth, seriously 18+ mdni
You ran a hand through your hair as you walked back and forth, unsure of what else to do with the restless energy surging through your system as you tried to fight one of your most basic, primal urges⊠hunger. Your fingers drummed against your thigh as you tried to focus on anything else, find something in your brain worth occupying your mind and switching course from the visuals running through your head. Your recent transition had been a shock to everyone, and Stefan had you on a tight leash to keep you in check⊠and youâd been on board, at first. You never wanted to cause harm, to be the reason someone elseâs life ended, but with the itch in your veins threatening to undo you completely you couldnât really find it in you to care anymore.
You heard your door push open and your head snapped up to see Damon walking in, two glasses and a bottle in his hand with an unamused expression, âif you donât knock it off Iâm going to have to replace the floor,â he said, setting everything on the dresser before pouring two generous cups of bourbon.Â
âNot now, Damon,â you sighed, ignoring him entirely as your feet remained on course.
âWanna talk about it?â he asked and you shook your head.
âNot really,â you said as he shoved a glass in your hand, his eyes telling you to drink which you did⊠all in one gulp and he was a little surprised as he took it to refill.Â
âWell, somethingâs gotta give,â he replied as you finished the second as quickly as the first. âAt this rate the bottle will be gone in a minute and Iâm not replacing original flooring.â He gripped your shoulders, halting your movements and you huffed, looking up at him.
âIâm hungry, Damon,â you said, as if it pained you to do so and he furrowed his brow.
âThe freezer is full- oh,â he cut himself off, realizing thatâs not what you meant as a smirk spread across his features. âYou want your blood at 98.6,â he said and you rolled your eyes, pushing him off you.
âWill you cut it out?â You poured another glass, hoping at some point the alcohol would subdue your cravings but you knew that was about as likely as him leaving you alone, so you tried another angle. âI canât⊠Damon, the blood bags arenât doing it for me, I canât think, I canât sleep⊠will you please take me out?â For a moment you thought heâd say yes, revel in the opportunity to feed with abandon with someone else, but it wasnât that easy.
âNo can do, sweetheart,â he replied and your brows pinched. âIâve got enough on my plate without you losing control and giving me more bodies to deal with.â He was right, there was too much going on and you spinning out wasnât an option, but that didnât make it any easier of an answer to tolerate. He gave you a once over, it wasnât as if he didnât want to take you out⊠he would have loved to, but you were new and he knew you could eventually get to where he was, one day youâd be able to feed and leave them alive with no memory of what had happened, but that day wasnât today, you had a long way to go and he couldnât afford to have you slip up.
But⊠he couldnât afford to have you slip up. One look told him you were wound tight, the diet Stefan had you on was restrictive, never enough to fully satisfy, and the less you drank the tighter you spun, threatening a catastrophic snap he could only assume was looming on the horizon with how frustrated you looked right now. He ran through his options, knowing letting you sit in this hunger any longer would result in a much bigger problem, but the only thing he could think of posed another set of issues and would lead to him teetering on the edge instead of you.
He let out a sigh, closing the distance between you and plucking the glass from your hands to discard on the dresser and you looked up at him questioningly, the invasion of space catching you by surprise. His normally bright eyes were dark and swimming with something you couldnât understand, deep blue pools you found yourself getting lost in as you waited for him to say something. âYou need to feed,â he said and your eyes fluttered shut just at the thought.
âI need to feed,â you whispered and he nodded, catching your chin between his fingers and forcing your head back up when you tried to look down and the action had your breath catching somewhere in your throat.Â
âYou still havenât felt it, have you?â he asked, voice low and you shuddered. âWhat itâs like to sink your teeth into somethingâŠâ you shook your head, Stefan hadnât allowed you to drink anything that didnât come from a cup. âPoor thing,â he chuckled, he could feel the tension radiating off you in waves, you were practically shaking beneath him as you fought to retain your grip on your sanity, on your control.
âDamon,â you sighed, eyes pleading and he just smiled as he gripped your hand and brought it up to his neck, the pulse beneath your fingers driving you wild.Â
âWhen you feed you have to be careful⊠if you bite just along here,â he said, dragging your fingers along the vein, âyou can control the flow. It doesnât have to be messy,â he explained and you couldnât tear your eyes away from the subtle way his skin moved with each beat of his heart, the sight bringing the veins beneath your eyes to the surface, your fangs descending.
âDonât fight it,â he said, noticing you trying to rein it in, and you were having a hard time focusing on anything with the way his hands were trailing up your arms, pulling you closer. âGo on,â he tilted his head just slightly, âgive it a try.â he encouraged and this pulled your focus, eyes snapping to his as you tried to ascertain if he was being serious. You had a lot left to learn, but blood sharing was personal, and you knew that⊠but all you saw in those dark blue eyes was a fire simmering beneath the surface you were sure was a mirror image of your own.
You slowly reached onto your tiptoes, as if he were a deer in the woods threatening to startle and bolt, but the closer you got the harder it was to resist, anticipation burning through your veins at the prospect of giving in. Your fangs were tentative as they broke the skin just where heâd indicated, but the first drop of blood immediately made you feel dizzy and intoxicated⊠It wasn't enough. You quickly grew feverish, your hand wrapping around his throat as you surged forward, crashing into the wall behind you and he let out a grunt as his back collided with the hard surface, pinned in place as you fed.
âThere you go⊠thatâs it,â he said, leaning back as he relaxed and let you take what you needed. His arm snaked around your waist while a hand brushed the hair from your face, cradling the back of your head as warm blood radiated through your body. A soft groan fell from his lips as you drank from him, and the sound elicited an unexpected reaction from you, your hand tightening around his throat and your body pushing flush against his and despite everything in you telling you to continue, you forced yourself back knowing if you didnât stop youâd bleed him dry.Â
Your eyes were wild and satisfied as they met his, and he dragged his thumb across your bottom lip, collecting the remnants and you were almost surprised when your lips wrapped around him, ensuring you didnât waste a single drop. His smirk returned when he felt your tongue slide across his skin, âbetter?â he asked and you nodded, keeping him in your mouth for maybe a second longer than you needed to. The air was charged between you, youâd just crossed a line in the sand and you wanted to push a little further, go a little fartherâŠÂ
Part of him knew he should put an end to this⊠stop before it went any further. He knew it before heâd even offered up a vein for you, he knew as soon as he did heâd be teetering on this ledge and he didnât have that much self control when it came to you. Perhaps, if he really analyzed the situation, he knew somewhere in the back of his mind why youâd been so worked up, he knew what you needed and instead of letting you wreak havoc on the blood cooler he let you push him against a wall and take what you wanted, he let you feed from him in the most intimate way he could think of.Â
And when you were looking up at him like that, eyes mischievous and holding an unspoken challenge with his blood still on your plump lips, who was he to resist? Your chest was heaving with anticipation as you waited for him to do something, anything, and the movement was so fast you almost didnât register his hand curling around your throat, flipping you around and slamming you against the wall with such force you were sure youâd be dead if you were human. Your gasp of surprise was swallowed by his mouth on yours, searing and frenzied as he connected your lips and kissed you with a hunger that rivaled your own only moments ago.Â
You both fought for dominance, neither one of you willing to submit just yet but you were outmatched⊠he grabbed your wandering hands and pinned them above your head, grip so tight you whined as he kissed down your neck, biting into you the same way youâd done with him and you couldnât help the moan that fell from your lips as he did. Your hips rolled forward and feeling his hardening length against you gave you the surge of confidence you needed to break your hands free, sliding down his chest to pull his shirt apart, buttons flying and clattering against the floor as you pushed the fabric over his shoulders.Â
His lips were greedy across the expanse of your chest as he nipped and sucked the soft skin, tearing your shirt to shreds as he pulled it from you, a mess of fabric in your wake as you surged forward and pushed him into the wall opposite you, regaining your upper hand. Glass shattered on the floor around you as the force rattled the dresser but you couldnât find it in you to care what had broken as your hands pulled his belt free, fingers quickly undoing the button as you sank to the floor and pulled his jeans with you.
His length stood erect in front of you and you were quick to take him in your mouth, focusing your tongue on his swollen tip as your hand worked what didnât fit, and you couldnât help but moan around him at the groan that fell from his lips, âsuch a good girl,â he cooed, his sweet words undercut by the harsh hand in your hair gripping and pulling you closer, forcing you to gag around him and the sensation had his head falling back against the wall. Tears sprung to your eyes at the sharp pain in your scalp and the way he was hitting the back of your throat, but all you could focus on was the throbbing between your thighs and he didnât miss the way you clenched them together, desperate for friction.Â
You were quickly on your back, too caught up in the moment to bother moving to the bed and you pushed glass aside as he settled between your legs, tearing your underwear off and diving in like a man starved and you could feel his smirk against you at your surprised moan, head hitting the floor as your back arched in pleasure. He switched between your clit and your entrance, not giving either attention long enough to give you what you really needed, and you whined as your fingers threaded through his hair, tugging harshly.
âDamon, please,â you sighed, hips bucking against his face and he focused his attention on your sensitive bundle of nerves, tongue expertly working you up as you shamelessly moaned his name. Somewhere in the back of your mind you knew with the way you kept slamming each other against walls and the floor, the breaking glass, and the sounds falling from both your lips someone might come to make sure you were alright, but you couldnât find it in you to care⊠not when he felt as good as he did between your legs.Â
Your moan changed in pitch when he slid two fingers into your entrance and it went straight to his cock, his head swimming as he watched you come close to falling apart above him. When he crooked his fingers just so your grip in his hair tightened, pulling him closer as you started to grind against him, âfuck, just like-â you were cut off by your own moan when he started massaging that spot inside you, legs trembling as you careened off the ledge. His touches remained merciless as pure euphoria surged through your veins, your head cloudy as your body trembled.Â
âSo fucking beautiful,â he muttered against you, kissing his way up your body and you tugged him closer to reconnect your lips, tongues swirling against each other as you tasted yourself on him. His hands felt greedy and possessive as they roamed over you, gripping tight enough to leave bruises that would heal before they even had a chance to form, and it was as if neither of you could get enough. You pushed forward, tugging him up with you and all but throwing him onto the bed and his smirk was devilish as he watched you crawl on top of him.
He looked like he was about to say something but you didnât give him the opportunity as you kissed him, rough and demanding as your hips settled above his, hand reaching between you to line him up at your entrance and you both let out groans as you took him inch by inch. The stretch was sweet, filling you almost to your breaking point as you settled fully and started to roll your hips against him, shuddering at the feeling.
âFuck,â he moaned as you started to bounce up and down, setting an unforgiving pace and you felt like you could feel him everywhere, every nerve ending radiating with fire. He sat up to wrap his arms around you, hips bucking to meet yours in a way that had your head rolling back and he took the opportunity to sink his teeth into your neck and you had never felt pleasure like this before. His hand was firm around your throat as your body shook with each thrust and soon you were boneless in his lap, only able to hold yourself upright as he drank you in.Â
When he pulled back you licked along his lips, face changing at the taste of blood and he swore heâd never seen anything sexier. Neither of you was going to last much longer, not like this, and he delivered a rough smack to your ass that had you whining and rolling against him. âOh my god,â you breathed out, letting your forehead fall against his and he smacked again, gripping the tender skin, âDamon-â you tried, but nothing would come out.
âWhatâs that, sweetheart?â he teased, gripping your hair and pulling you back to look at him, âoh, look at you⊠all cock drunk and fucked out,â he teased and you had nothing to say as a firm thrust had you seeing stars. You buried your face in his neck, fangs sinking into his skin as you felt your release barreling towards you, the mixture of blood and his steady thrusts too much to bear and a streak of red trailed down your body as you came, only able to shout his name as you cried out.
Your grip on him was maddening, pulling him right over the edge with you as you milked him for everything he had, and when you both slowed to a stop you were having a hard time catching your breath, your mind floating somewhere above you as you tried to return to your body. You felt his tongue along your chest, cleaning up your mess as you leaned back and he tried to commit the sight to memory⊠your hair wild, cheeks flushed, and skin dewy as blood lingered along your skin.Â
You still werenât fully with him, stuck in a haze as you felt him whisk you into his bedroom, and into the bathroom and it wasnât until you were under the stream of water with him that you hummed contently against his lips as he kissed you softly, âthere she is,â he chuckled.
His hands were delicate as they roamed you, and yours slid down the front of his chest as you looked up at him, doe eyed and happy. âThat wasâŠâ you trailed off, unsure of what word to use to fully sum it up and he placed another soft kiss on your lips.
âEverything you ever dreamed of?â he provided and you laughed as you swatted his chest.Â
âHush,â you replied, feigning annoyance but you didnât have it in you to feel anything other than bliss. The rest of your shower was spent with wandering hands and sweet kisses, a stark contrast to how rough and domineering youâd been with each other and when he pulled you into bed and wrapped himself around you, you looked up at him as your fingers trailed along his chest absentmindedly.
âWhat are you thinking about?â he asked, and you flushed slightly under his gaze.
âIt was more than I dreamed of,â you answered, and he raised a brow in question. âI havenât⊠I hadnât done that since turning, I didnât know it could be like that,â you explained and realization passed over his features.
âMy god,â he chuckled, âno wonder you were wound so tight.â His hand on your back was comfortable, holding you tight against him as he rubbed soothingly, âweâll go on a little trip this weekend,â he said as you rested your head on his chest.
âA trip?âÂ
You felt him nod, âaway from all the chaos here⊠weâll find you some warm bodies and Iâll teach you how to do it the right way, you donât have to live a life of blood bags forever.âÂ
âI donât know, you seemed to do the trick,â you teased and he laughed.
âSweetheart, you have no idea what youâre missing.âÂ

decisions, decisions / damon salvatore x reader
summary: the two times you discussed your apprehension to transitioning with Damon, and the one time you didn't get to.
word count: 5.5k
warnings: mentions of death, blood, violence, etc. typical tvdu stuff, no real reference as to when this takes place in canon
As you walked through the doors of the boarding house, flanked by both of the Salvatoreâs, you thought of the night your parents had died and how you eerily felt the same way as you did then⊠your boots clicking against the wood floors could be heard by anyone, though it wasnât quite reaching your ears, neither were the voices of Stefan and Damon as they led you into the kitchen and sat you on a bar stool. Logically, you knew exactly where you were, but really if someone asked you wouldnât have an answer. The only thing you knew for certain in this moment was that your skin was itchy and your mind was racing, replaying the events of the past hour as it tried to sort and categorize what it had seen, what it had done.
âShould we⊠call someone?â Damon asked, and this you heard but your eyes remained locked in place, looking at something that wasnât really there as you felt a hand on your shoulder and a glass pressed to your lips, thankfully your body had the instinct to go on autopilot and sip the water Stefan was forcing you to drink.Â
âWho?â he shot back, and if these were different circumstances you would have laughed, said my dead parents? A crisis counselor? A therapist? Good luck explaining this one.
âBonnie, Elena, Caroline?â Damon listed off and each name made you wince.
âI donât think any of them will be much help right now,â Stefan answered. Good, at least someone is thinking clearly.
âIâm fine,â you finally said, voice hoarse as you spoke for the first time in over an hour, and both boys snapped their heads to look at you, varying levels of concern clear on their faces. âI just, uhâŠâ you paused, looking down at your hands, blood caked underneath your fingernails, seeped into the fabric of your clothing, even down to your socks. âItâs a lot of-â your hands started to shake and Stefan was quick to grab them, steadying them as he pulled you up.
âCome on, letâs get you cleaned up,â he said softly, leading you up the stairs and into a bathroom where you caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and had you had the capacity to process the sight before you, you again might have laughed⊠an inappropriate reaction to an inappropriate situation. Stefan left quietly, leaving you alone as you began stripping yourself of your now-ruined clothing, trying to ignore the way it clung to your skin before smearing the blood everywhere⊠as if it would have made a difference.
You didnât even flinch when the door opened, unconcerned with the fact that you were standing in just your bra and underwear because itâs not like there was anything to really see beneath all the red and Damonâs eyes were apologetic as he sat a stack of clothes and several towels on the counter. âSorry, just leaving these here for you,â he said and you gave him a dry smile.
âItâs fine, sure youâve seen worse.â you replied.
âIâll be just outside, shout if you need anything.â You nodded softly as the door shut once more, and you peeled off the remainder of your clothing before flicking the faucet on and stepping under the stream. The shower floor quickly became a violent red, bright and angry, as the water washed over you and it did nothing to quell the images flashing through your mind. You almost felt embarrassed by how shell shocked you were, it wasnât like you hadnât killed before⊠a rogue vampire, or a werewolf that one time, in the heat of battle amidst the chaos that was now your life but this was different.
This was a hunter, a human, someone new drawn to the horrors plaguing Mystic Falls that set a perfect trap for Stefan and Damon, leaving you in the crosshairs after a training session in the woods. The irony of you pinned to the ground with only a small knife to your name after an afternoon spent wielding weapon after weapon was not lost on you, and the real kicker was the stake driven through your abdomen⊠the only human staked with two vervained vampires laying a few feet away. Instinct and self-preservation had taken over, mixed with a little fear, and in all honesty you donât know where your knife had landed, just that youâd fought with all your might until his body slumped against yours. Youâd known it had to be you, if either of them had awoken they wouldnât have hesitated, you had to be the one to do it.
You briefly thought of Carrie, how the pigâs blood poured over her and drenched her so completely⊠only this wasnât a movie, you werenât on a stage in a pink dress, and this was not pigâs blood. It was sticky and hot pouring over your face, dripping down your neck, seeping through your clothes⊠it was human. It wasnât a vampire, or a werewolf, it was another human just like you. Youâd seen the light burn out in his eyes, youâd felt the limpness in his form as you shoved him off, youâd felt every inch of the stake as you pulled it out with shaking hands, terror pumping through your veins as you realized if you died right here, you would not be dead.
It was something trivial, a knife slicing through your palm so deep you felt woozy, you remembered the laughter as Damon begrudgingly gave you his wrist and Elenaâs comment⊠I think we need to establish a schedule, make sure youâre with a vampire at all times otherwise your clumsiness is going to be your doom.Â
You scrubbed your scalp, nails raking across the skin as you desperately waited for the water to run clear. It felt like there wasnât enough soap, enough water, enough patience. But eventually it did, whatâs the saying⊠all bleeding must stop? Soon everything will pass. How long until this passed? You recognized Damonâs scent as you pulled on his clothes after drying off, wrapping you in a sense of comfort you found odd. It wouldnât have been the case had it been Stefanâs, you always felt safe with him, trusted and valued⊠but Damon? You were friends, sure, by circumstance not choice, you never fully knew where you stood with him which left you on edge and unsettled in his company.
You opened the door to find him exactly where he said he would be, leaning against the wall opposite you, eyes glued to the floor until they snapped up, searching yours for the answer to a question he didnât ask, a question he wasnât really sure of in the first place. He let out a chuckle as he scanned you, settling on the sweatpants threatening to drop right off your frame, and he gently reached out to secure them tightly around your waist. âBetter?â he asked and you nodded.
âFinally feel clean,â you answered, voice still scratchy and hollow, as he led you down the hallway to his bedroom where he pulled back the covers for you to settle in. You looked up at him with a look of confusion and amusement as he busied himself with tucking you in, truly fretting over you. âWho are you and what have you done with Damon Salvatore?â
âHa ha,â he responded sarcastically. âThought this would be more comfortable, the guest rooms are kind of creepy in my opinion.â
âIf you say so,â you replied, a smirk clear on your face and he tried not to dwell too much on how reassuring it was to see you sinking back into your old self.
âDo you need anything? Water, food, Stefan?â he asked and you just shook your head, âokay, Iâll be down the hall⊠or you know where Stefan is, whoever youâre more comfortable with, if you need anythingâŠâ he said, rambling as he was overwhelmed by the emotional intimacy of tending to you, yet he still felt like he wasnât really doing enough as he walked towards the door.
âDamon?â you called, and he was quick to turn around, eyes warm and curious as they settled on you. âCould you maybe⊠stay? If thatâs not weird?â you asked, and he was sliding into the other side of the bed in an instant, careful to leave an appropriate distance to not spook you.
âI think we left weird back in the woods,â he answered and you let out a soft laugh. Silence permeated the space as you both tried to figure out what to say next, there were about a dozen thoughts on the tip of your tongue and only one question on Damonâs that he finally found the nerve to ask. âAre you okay?â
âI donât know, I think so? He was going to kill all of us, I know I did the right thing, but⊠itâs just weird, I guess I was overly prepared for killing something supernatural, and underprepared for something human.âÂ
âYou did do the right thing, and you saved one of us from the hunterâs curse⊠thank you for that, by the way,â he said, and you cracked a smile. âIt was him or us and you chose right.â
âI almost died,â you nearly whispered, recalling the feeling of your blood rushing out of the wound in your abdomen, using all of your strength to crawl over to Stefan and Damonâs unconscious bodies. âI know itâs not the first time thatâs happened, but it was the first time I felt it, the losing energy, feeling weak⊠when neither of you were waking up I was terrified I was going to die.â You recalled your panic, both of them out cold as your hands darted around the ground, sifting through dead leaves to try and find the knife youâd dropped to slice open Damonâs wrist to drink from.
âAnd you still had my blood in your system,â he finished, and you looked over to him a little shocked that he remembered, and that he already seemed to know thatâs what was really bothering you. âYou donât want to turn?â he asked, genuinely curious. Youâd always refrained from giving your two cents on the matter when it came up, and you were usually impossible to read.
âI donât know,â you answered. âIâve thought about it, not enough to figure out my stance on it. I donât feel the same as Elena did, it was her worst nightmare⊠She wanted kids, and the picket fence, and sitting on the porch swing old and gray. I donât want the same things, I donât view vampirism as a hindrance to my goals or an unnecessary evil, but I also donât know if I want to give up my human life.â
âYouâll stay here the next few days,â he responded and you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. âUntil it passes from your system. You deserve for it to be a choice, and I donât want you out in the world where you could stumble into another person on the hunt for me⊠or with your luck, oncoming traffic.â
You let out a laugh, âthank you.â You settled into the blankets as a wave of exhaustion rolled over you, and you tilted your head slightly when you saw Damon lift an arm up for you, creating a space for you to lay against his chest. You exhaled in relief as he held you firmly, caging you in and wrapping you in a sense of protection.
âGet some rest, Iâm not going anywhere.â he whispered, fingers drawing absentminded patterns against your skin as you already began fading into sleep. Nothing about the day had been predictable, but the most unexpected thing was this peaceful moment with DamonâŠÂ
The incident with the vampire hunter had left you rattled for weeks to come, while you werenât subject to the hunterâs curse that didnât stop it from hanging over you like a storm cloud, lightning threatening to strike at a momentâs notice, but it became easier to manage with time⊠you were able to compartmentalize and rationalize. Yes, he was human, but he was also trying to kill you and two of your friends. At least, thatâs what you (and everyone else) were constantly repeating. Eventually, the dreams subsided and you were able to take a shower without seeing pools of red at your feet, and life began to return to normal.
Well, normal except for one key difference⊠Damon had become not just a friend of circumstance, but a genuine friend. Youâd seen a side of him you were entirely certain didnât exist and he had suddenly seen you as something more than just one of Elenaâs human friends. He had discovered that you were deeply insightful, had good ideas when he actually listened instead of tuning you out, and you were a hell of a drinking buddy despite your weak tolerance for bourbon, which he was currently pouring for himself as you laid sprawled out on his bed with a grimoire underneath you.
âThis one is a dead end,â you sighed, crawling off the bed and discarding it on the stack of books Bonnie had asked the two of you to read before swiping his glass and finishing it off, nearly snorting the amber liquid at the look on his face.
âThat is good bourbon meant for sipping, itâs not meant to be treated like cheap tequila.â
âMy bad,â you said, amusement lacing your tone as you held your hands up in surrender. âI didnât realize there was a protocol to drinking alcohol.â He just gave you a look as he refilled his glass and poured one for you, one that said youâre insufferable. âIâll let Bonnie know we didnât find anything.â
âWeâll figure it out eventually,â he responded, placing the glass in your hand as you clinked it against his. âGot any plans tonight?â he asked, eyes darting to the window showcasing the setting sun.
âBesides drinking you out of house and home?â you answered with a question, tilting the glass back and swallowing it in one gulp, as if to further annoy him, ânope.â He rolled his eyes, walking towards the door and you followed him instinctively, like he was a magnet pulling you along with him, and you let out a gasp when you landed in front of the liquor cabinet, watching him pull out a bottle of tequila.
âThat is for you, if you insist on not enjoying your drinks.â It was your turn to roll your eyes as you pulled the top off and drank directly from the bottle.
âWe canât all be old like you, Iâm firmly in the stage of my life where alcohol is a means to an end,â you responded with a shrug of your shoulders, making your way over to records where you flipped through, looking for something to put on.
âIâm not old,â he protested and you raised your head slightly to shoot him a look.
âYou fought in the civil war,â you pointed out. âOn the wrong side, might I add.â
âNot by choice, and I deserted... a fact you always conveniently forget." he protested, rolling his eyes. âWhy is it that this is always the album you pick?â he asked, changing the subject entirely as he watched you take another swig from the bottle.
âDo you have a problem with Prince?â
âNone at all, however⊠variety is always a good thing,â he mused.
âDid you ever see Prince? Like, in his heyday?âÂ
âOnce or twice,â he responded, smirking at the way your eyes lit up just imagining it. âPerks of vampirism⊠compelling yourself into the best spot at any show⊠One of my fonder memories is watching Fleetwood Mac from the side stage.â
You sighed dreamily, âthat is something to put in the pro category.â
âGiven it anymore thought?â he asked, extending his hand for you to take as he twirled you around to the sounds of I Wanna Be Your Lover, and you obliged his request to dance instantly, allowing yourself to be pulled into his orbit as your hips swayed in motion with his, both of your bottles long since discarded on a nearby table.
You nodded, âthe incident put things into perspective, made me consider things a little more thoroughly. I actually remembered a conversation Elena and I had, long before we ever met you and Stefan, after watching a vampire movie⊠it was the middle of the night, we should have been sleeping but I asked her âif vampires were real, would you want to be one?â She answered, âif they look like Brad Pitt, definitely.ââ you paused to chuckle. "But, this isnât a hypothetical question at a sleepover, itâs a real possibility Iâve teetered on the edge of more than once.â You two were no longer really dancing, merely swaying side to side as he looked down at you with rapt attention, more invested in what you thought than he ever would have imagined. âWhen I look at you I see endless opportunity, wild fun and trips around the world once, or twice, or a dozen times just because you can, and freedom. When I look at Stefan I see a constant struggle for control, longing for the true humanity he lost, and deep-rooted self-loathing for where heâs been and what heâs done. You two are on opposite ends of the spectrum, which makes it really difficult for me to gauge how I actually feel.â
âYou could look at Lexi,â he pointed out. âShe was the poster child for self-control and moderation but that girl got up to some wild things when she wasnât saving hero hair.â
You smiled softly, âI did, actually⊠I only met her once, and granted I didnât know she was a vampire at the time, but she did seem good, and free-spirited.â You watched his face fall slightly, no doubt reliving the moment he killed his brotherâs best friend, and you wrapped your arms around his neck to break him from the thought. âI want to be like you⊠uninhibited, bold, a little reckless at times because youâre just invincible enough to be okay no matter what⊠but then I think of Stefan, or how much Elena wishes she could change things, or how hard Caroline tries to make the best of it and it pulls me right back into questioning everything. And the rub is that if I decide I want to stay human, I can change my mind at any time⊠if I decide to be a vampire on the other handâŠâ
âThereâs no going back,â he finished and you nodded. âWhatever you decide, youâve got my support. Itâs kind of admirable, the way youâre really taking the time to actually figure out what you want.â
âWas that a compliment?â you teased and he harshly tugged you closer.
âDefinitely not,â he whispered before letting you go to return to his bourbon⊠and you to your tequila.
âIf you say so,â you mused, making your way to the record player to make a new selection.
âFor the love of god, no more Prince.â he protested, already seeing you halfway through making that choice. You raised your hands in surrender, a cheeky smile on your lips as you instead selected Bon Jovi.
âOh, youâre going to pay for that.â he said, already lunging for you as you squealed and ran thorough the living room, desperately trying to evade him.
Trudging through the dark woods you struggled to see more than a few feet in front of you, entirely unguided by the light of the moon and the dim glow of your phone screen. One wrong turn had you separated from the Salvatoreâs with Klaus on the loose and you thought to yourself that there couldnât be a worse time for you to be lost and un-flanked by the brotherâs. You were unsure of exactly why you were facing off with Klaus, the whole thing felt rather ridiculous to you, but you were whisked off the front porch just as youâd raised your hand to knock⊠simply there to collect a forgotten textbook. You shouldnât have been surprised, this was just your life now, breezing from one supernatural disaster to the next.
You thought about calling out to them, but realized it would only alert the person you were desperately trying to avoid, and settled for your careful and slow movements, one foot in front of the other, until you finally, hopefully, found them before Klaus found you. It was an effort entirely in vain, you were human, he was an original vampire, you couldnât even be shocked when you heard the tenor of his voice or felt a strong arm wrap around your waist as he hauled you through the forest kicking and screaming. âKlaus! Put me down!â you tried, but that was also in vain.Â
âI can hear you, Stefan,â Klaus sneered as he dropped you rather unceremoniously to the ground, and you scrambled to your feet⊠contemplating running but it would only make matters worse.
âJust let her go, Klaus.â Stefan said, emerging with Damon through the tree line and you felt the tiniest bit of relief that was quickly squashed as you realized if theyâd angered Klaus there was only so much backpedaling they could do.Â
âI thought I told the lot of you to stay away from my family,â Klaus roared and a shiver slinked down your spine⊠if they messed with his family you were really done for.
âI thought retaliation was fair play,â Damon replied, confusion evident in his tone as he walked towards you, stopping only a few yards away. âMight want to tell that sister of yours to keep her emotions in check.â
âIâll be sure to pass along the message,â he said, turning to harshly yank you forward. âBut it appears you all need a message in return.â He bit into his wrist and you struggled in his grasp as the brotherâs moved forward, only to stop in their tracks when Klaus said, âtake one more step and Iâll snap her neck.â
âKlaus, donât!â Stefan pleaded, you could already see the guilt clear as day across his face as he realized you were about to suffer the same fate he wouldnât wish upon anyone else. âShe wasnât involved, donât do this to her.â
âMakes for a better lesson then, doesnât it?â he asked, shoving his wrist against your lips and you tried to fight it but it was futile as you choked his blood down. âAn innocent life, completely derailed by your actions.â
âKlaus,â you whispered, the shaky fear drawing his attention to you. âPlease donât do this.â
âIâm sorry, love,â he responded, brushing a stray tear from your cheek and you stiffened at the touch. âYouâre what's known as collateral damage, itâs nothing personal.â The worst part of it all was that as you looked up into his eyes you saw genuine remorse⊠he didnât want to do this to you, he felt like he had to. âPerhaps in a few years when youâve adjusted to this new life of yours, Iâll make it up to you.â
âAlright, come on⊠youâve given everyone a good scare, message received, just let her go and we can all forget this ever happened.â Damon tried as Klausâs hand gently cradled the back of your head.
âThe next time you think of crossing my family, I want you to look at this lovely young girl, frozen in time, immortalized as a monster, and reconsider,â was the last thing you heard before everything went dark.
You jolted upright in a bed that wasnât your own, chest heaving as you looked around frantically, trying to decipher where you were and your breathing slowed, only slightly, when you realized you were in Damonâs bedroom. Your mind was reeling as you checked yourself over for injuries before realizing if you were waking up in the boarding house whatever had happened had already been magically erased from your body. You stilled when you heard arguing on the other side of the door, Damon and⊠maybe Elena? Your head throbbed as you swung your feet over the edge of the bed, prepared to stand and figure out what the hell had happened when it all hit you like a freight train⊠snapping twigs, Klausâs blood, darkness. You were in transition.
You jumped to your feet just as the door swung open and Damon was surprised to see you awake, âthere she is. How are you feeling?â he asked in an uncharacteristically chipper tone and he was unsurprised when you charged towards him, tiny fists clenched and thudding against any inch of his chest you could hit.
âWhat the hell did you do?â you shrieked as he just stood there taking it, allowing you to get it out of your system and it didnât take long for you to realize it wasnât going to change anything and you stopped as you stepped back and ran a hand through your hair. There was a sinking feeling in your stomach, a chill in your veins as you whispered, âIâm a vampire.â You thought of the conversations youâd had with Damon, exposing your feelings on the matter to only him, feelings you hadnât quite deciphered for yourself. It was a choice you were debating, only for that choice to be ripped from your grasp.
âI really didnât think heâd take it that far,â Damon tried and you just scowled at him, if looks could kill heâd be staked by now. You stood there for a moment, sorting through the mountain of emotions swirling through your head and your heart before laughter bubbled past your lips, true unfiltered laughter.Â
âIs everything okay?â Stefan asked, entering the room and you noticed the blood bag in his hand he was trying to keep concealed.
âOh, everything is just peachy,â you replied, thoroughly in a fit of giggles as Elena was pulled in by the sound and the three of them just watched through confused eyes with concerned expressions. âI mean, I donât respond to texts for whatâŠ? Three hours? I try to have just one night to myself, and thatâs the night you decide to piss off an original and I get murdered in the woods,â you ranted, breathless laughter still surrounding your words. âHe called me collateral damage to whatever idiotic stunt you pulled with Rebekah. Collateral fucking damage,â you whispered the last part and Elena shared a look with Stefan that translated to what should we do? âThat for me?â you asked, striding across the room and plucking the blood bag from his hands, and Elena flinched when you ripped the top of it off.
âYou donât have to drink it right now, you have time to decide-â Stefan started but another bout of laughter cut him off.
âDecide? That decision has already been made for me. I mean, what am I going to do, just let myself actually die?â you replied as you sucked the liquid down and he suddenly felt like he was in over his head. While this reaction from you wasn't shocking for Damon, Stefan had expected tears, breakdowns, and maybe a broken vase or two⊠but he might have been right about the breakdown, he was at a loss for any other way to describe what he was currently seeing. When the bag was empty you discarded it on Damonâs desk and took a moment to steady yourself, inhaling and exhaling all of the bad.
âOkay, whatâs done is done.â you said suddenly and Elenaâs face twisted up in confusion.
âItâs okay if youâre not okay, you can take a minute⊠process what happened,â she tried.
âYour emotions are really heightened right now, I think you should just sit down and take a beat.â Stefan added, and Damon was being unusually silent.
âNope. Iâm good, we canât go back, we canât change it⊠this is how things are. Whatâs done is done,â you repeated.
âThatâs⊠it?â Elena asked and you nodded.
âThatâs it. Now, Iâm going to go home, take a shower, take a nap in my own bed, and I will be prepared for whatever hero monologue about self-control and moderation you were preparing during my brief stint into death tomorrow,â you said, directing the last bit to Stefan as you moved to exit the room and Damon cleared his throat.
âAbout that⊠you canât leave, yet,â he said, voice cautious as you turned on your heel, eyes catching the sunlight and you took in another deep breath to steady yourself.
âTurns out we used the last lapis lazuli ring on hand for meâŠâ Elena started, âBonnieâs out getting one right now, but until thenâŠâ
âIâm stuck here.â you finished. You nodded, âperfect. Cool if I raid your kitchen?â you asked, but didnât wait for a response. âGreat, thanks so much.â You bounded down the stairs, stumbling on the landing as you realized you moved far quicker than you intended to⊠something for you to get used to, and you threw open the fridge with a huff as you sorted through its contents and settled on what looked like leftover takeout from the Thai place you loved so much, not even bothering to heat up the noodles as you hopped up onto the counter.
âBy all means, help yourself, wasnât looking forward to those later or anything,â Damon said as he entered and you let out a humorless laugh.
âDonât even,â you warned as he leaned against the counter across from you. âShould I make you the same promise you made Stefan? An eternity of misery?âÂ
âIâd rather you didnât,â he answered and you focused your attention on your noodles. âIâm sorry.â
âWhat for? Itâs not like you pissed off Klaus and robbed me of having a say in how I live the rest of my life,â you replied and he nodded, knowing there wasnât really anything he could say in this moment to make it right. âI meant what I said, whatâs done is done. I just⊠I didnât know if I wanted this,â you sighed.
âThatâs⊠oddly sweet,â you said, skepticism lacing your tone.
âEveryoneâs story is traumatic⊠I didnât want that for you. I wanted it to be easy, and peaceful.â he said and you smiled softly at the sentiment. âIâm really sorry my choices resulted in the opposite, and got your choice taken away.â
You sighed, âitâs okay. I meant what I said, whatâs done is done. I have decided that I did decide I wanted this, I just hadnât shared that with anyone yet and really Klaus did me a favor. Iâm reframing and moving on.âÂ
He chuckled, âyouâre incredible, you know that?â he asked as he stepped in between your legs, palms resting on your thighs. âI will spend the rest of my eternity making sure you have the most fulfilling vampire life possible. My bad choices are not going to hinder you from having the life you want, whatever that ends up looking like.â
You laughed, âyou shouldnât have told me that because you just gave me so much power,â you teased. âI already have a request.âÂ
âWhatever it is, consider it done,â he replied, smirking at you.
âCan you go get me some clothes from my house? Something cute and funâŠ. youâre taking me out as soon as the sun goes down because Iâm hungry and not for something that comes out of a blood bag or a take-out container.â
âOn it,â he answered, pressing a kiss to your forehead. âIn the meantime, go upstairs and relax. Take a bath, raid the liquor cabinet, raid the fridge in the basement, whatever you want, and when I get back Iâll give you the best first night of vampirism you could ask for.â he said and you laughed as he disappeared, hopping down from the counter to follow his instructions. Sure, this wasnât how youâd imagined it, before you woke up you werenât even sure this was what you wanted, but there was no use dwelling on things that could be unchanged⊠there was only making the best of it, and welcoming your new life with open arms.
