The little bunny sat on their bed, ears droopy as they stared at their lap. Weren’t they good enough? Why were they treated so differently from other bunnies? Surely, they were just as fuzzy, warm, and friendly as the others, weren’t they?

Maybe I am different.. they found themselves thinking.

“What’s on your mind, bun?” Mama rabbit suddenly asked. She had opened the door to their room, cookies and milk at hand. Perhaps she had noticed the down behavior from her bunny.

“I’m..too different from other bunnies.”

Their mama gave them a puzzled, yet concerned look. “Different, you say?”

The little bun nodded sadly.

She stood there in deep thought. Mama rabbit was probably thinking of how to properly address such a situation; to her, her little bunny was the most interesting and fun little bun to be around.

“Being different isn’t a bad thing,” she began. “Yes, perhaps some bunnies won’t understand..they are too used to the idea of a ‘normal’ that they don’t see just how truly wonderful someone who’s different can be. You may not be like everyone else, but you certainly have good qualities, and I’m sure the other bunnies see that despite your differences.”

She wiped a small tear from her bunny’s eye. “And just like there isn’t just one spot on a lady bug, there isn’t just one person in the world who’s different. There are many bunnies just like you, who will accept you as you are and be your friend.”

She gently patted their hair. “Perhaps you are a little different, but different isn’t bad.”
