GENERAL NOTES → Rachel catches sight of Jordan for the first time in years.
Jordan had to chew on his bottom lip to keep himself from laughing. It was an old habit of his that he never figured out how to break. He knew that Rachel was pretending to be surprised, which means she had spotted him as well. He doesn’t know why she felt the need to pretend. It had been two years since they’ve seen each other. Things didn’t have to be weird. They could act like old friends, couldn’t they?
At least that’s what he tried to tell himself, but standing there in front of her felt different than he expected. The last time he saw Rachel, he was still hurt with her. Really hurt with her. It seemed like they couldn’t even be friends since their break up, no matter how hard he really did try. Now he didn’t know how he felt about being this close to her. Only that it was nice and that’s not what he expected at all. “I mean, if we’re being honest, we probably haven’t thought of each other in a couple of years, right?” He shrugged.
"I’ve been good. A lot has happened in the last couple of years. I quit basketball. I never liked playing, anyway. And I started to be honest about who I was and what I wanted. It turns out you weren’t the only person I can be completely with." He paused, remembering how easy it was to talk to Rachel. How he felt like he could tell her anything at all. "I love it here. I feel at home. I can be myself here."
RACHEL:
"You haven't thought about me in years?" she questioned, before she could stop herself. It wasn't like she thought of him daily, or anything of the sort, but she definitely thought of him often. She regret what she did, and how she treated him. She wondered about him and how he was, but she never expected him to end up at NYADA. She didn't know why she didn't expect it, since she knew how passionate he was about dancing and performing. She was proud of him for comign here.
"Oh, wow." she said, in response to him telling her that he was done with basketball. She'd be a liar if she wasn't a little disappointed that she'd probably never see him play again; there's something she's always liked about watching him play. Despite that, she was glad that he was following his dreams just as she was. "That's good, I'm happy for you." she said with a nod. Somehow the way he said that made her feel a little less special.
"I love it here too." she said, looking away from him for a moment so she could take a look around. "It's a dream come true, honestly. I've been auditioning for roles around the city too. I haven't received any callbacks yet, but I'm still hopeful." she said with a slight nod, her eyes finding his once again. "We should get lunch sometimes or something."
