I use primarily she/they pronouns, and I go by Gangle, Ribbit, or Thistle here ^^
I strongly kin both Gangle and Ribbit from The Amazing Digital Circus, and I'll be talking about my experiences with that on this blog!
Doubles can interact, and I'd love to hear from sourcemates if you stumble upon my blog and want to chat! Fair warning, I am currently a minor. (Important note for sourcemates, in case it needs to be said)
Don't know what to say? Here's a fandom list! I'm also comfortable talking about pretty much any aspect of fictionkinity, and I'd love to share memories- I'm always on the lookout for canonmates :)
Feel free to ask me whatever in the askbox, and I'll also take drawing requests- but keep in mind my artstyle won't be the same as it may have been in previous lives.
Thanks for reading, have a nice day!!!
(Note: This blog is not offically associated with Glitch Productions or Gooseworx in any way)
WAIT YOU LIKE WARRIOR CATS?????? :0 OUR HOST IS A FIRESTAR FICTIONKIN :3 -Mizuki
I do!!! Honestly surprised I don't kin from there myself lmao :3
I've not gotten past the saga with Jayfeather, Lionblaze, Holyleaf, and Dovewing yet, but I do love it and the world a lot ^^
(also, hello!! This is kinda an awkward question, but. Have we met? Perhaps before a profile picture and/or username change? Or maybe I know you from a fictive blog of sorts? Tumblr says we're mutuals... probably my poor object permanence getting me lol, I'm sorry about that TwT)
Rating nicknames Daisy gave me while we were in the circus (Ribbit edition):
"Ribs" - 8/10. The one I remember her using most frequently back then, took me a minute to get adjusted to not being called this one as often. Cute! Makes me sound kinda like a barbeque item though.
"Ribsy" - 9/10. The one she likes to use all the time now :). She seemed kinda embarrassed to use this one back then, I think? No clue why... current theory is that it had something to do with the whole transition/accepting herself thing but I don't know what a nickname of mine has to do with that. Also cute!
"Froggers" - 7/10. Always made me think of that one video game... which I thought was funny, since we were stuck in (what I assumed at the time was) a video game. I think that was the idea behind the nickname, too, but I can't be sure.
"Froggy" - 9/10. Cutes :). Usually used in tandem with "Bunny" on my end. Typically used in (platonically) affectionate scenarios, or some forms of teasing.
"Frog-face" - 4/10. Used rarely, may be a false memory. Ngl this one's kinda dumb (/aff) but I think that's the point... if I'm right about this one existing, used mostly in teasing scenarios. And also I think when she got bored of the others?
I probably frogot some... I remember being the highest receiver of nicknames from her lol
As shown at the end of the last episode, me and Caine ended up becoming friends! He was a lot of fun to be around, and I remember his eyes lit up so bright whenever you gave him the smallest compliment. He was still learning to live like the rest of us, but he was really persistent and learned fast because of it. He was really nice, too.
I remember one specific time we hung out, it was during this arts and crafts night me, him, and Zooble held most weeks. That week, we'd decided to make origami- we didn't tend to theme our nights, but we wanted to spice it up that time. He couldn't quite figure out how to make a crane, and ended up trying and trying all night... He figured it out eventually! It took him lots of tries though- the ground around him was littered with tiny colorful pieces of crumpled paper. After he got it, he made crane after crane. He was really proud, and it was incredibly endearing. I think I had one or two cranes sitting on a desk or end table somewhere for a while after that.
I miss him... I hope all Caines out there are doing well :)
Starting to watch Madoka Magica because I've seen people make posts about that show including both Ribbit and Gangle... I've only seen the first episode so far (and it's really good) but I already feel like I'm gonna be emotionally destroyed by it.
Hello, bluestar fictionkin here. I noticed you like warrior cats so i decided to say hi.
Who is your favorite character from warriors? My favorite is pretty obvious... (hint: its my kin), but i also like hollyleaf!
Hello, Bluestar! Nice to meet you!!
I'm a big fan of Spottedleaf- and you, actually ^w^. I think I had one from the power of three era too, but I haven't read that arc in a while... Dovewing, maybe?
I've... already mentioned that there's "No hard feelings" about episode 9 a couple times in other posts, but... I wanted to talk about that a bit more. The not-being-mad part, to be clear- I have a lot of emotions about this and I wanna put them out there. Heavy abstraction tw below the cut, as per usual on this kind of post.
I'll be honest, when I abstracted... I thought it wouldn't matter. I've known I had those thoughts when it happened for a long while now.
But every new episode has been a new punch to the gut of just how much it mattered. It mattered so, so much. The scene where you ran to my door during intermissions. The near-abstraction scene in episode 7 where you hallucinated me reaching out to you. The times during the flashback itself where you almost knocked on my door, twice. You didn't want this. You've suffered so, so much because of this. And though I was hurt badly too, I... god.
All I want to do right now is to give you a hug (though I understand why you might not be comfortable with that) and grab you by the arm and go run off to have hot chocolate together. I want to laugh with you again, or go swimming, or have a picnic, or go stargazing. I want to be friends again. I'm certain about that.
For every bad memory I have of what happened, I have three more of being with you, laughing and smiling. And besides that, the grief you so clearly felt... I can see you're sorry. I can see I meant so much to you. And I know you mean so, so much to me. I hope you know that, too- you meant the world to me and you still do.
Hope you're doing well out there. Rest assured, I still want to be friends as long as you do.
More talking about the 9th episode... an apology from me this time. No abstraction tw on this one but I'm still putting it under a cut to be safe.
I'm not sure if it needs said, but I really am so, so sorry for prying. The whole wanting to know whether or not you trust me line... while that was all I was thinking about/wanting to know at the time, it didn't really leave you with a good option to not share. I'm also sorry if I did anything to make you feel unsafe (or generally uncomfortable)- I know what happened was at least in part due to a deep-rooted fear of being outed, which... again, prying too early.
While I get that what happened afterwards wasn't really my fault... I do apologize for all that. I could've handled that better.
There's something I wanted to take back from my recent Ribbit timeline post. I thought about it a bit more... putting this under a cut because it's from a piece of the post that's under a cut.
It's the sentence in the middle, to be clear. Because I don't. I don't regret knowing you, not in the slightest. I regret if I made you uncomfortable. I regret not waiting until a time when more people were asleep. I regret prying so hard instead of going with a gentler approach. But I don't regret knowing you. I don't regret that conversation.
If I wish anything, it's that I wish that conversation could've gone on longer, or that we could've had more. But I guess I can't blame you for being scared, given what you told me.
While the reason for it is sad, I remember working on this mural fondly. I was the first person the others* asked to help plan it, and I felt really honored to be known as the "artist" of the circus like that. It was fun collaborating with Zooble to make it... I'm pretty sure it wasn't quite done yet here, and we went back in and added lineart later. We didn't forget Ribbit's eyelashes, I promise!
(*Ragatha and Kinger were the ones to approach me, I think? Ragatha for sure, at the very least)
I remember I started collabing with Zooble while it was still in the sketch phase- he came up with the background, though that might be kinda obvious. I also remember we spent a lot of time getting Queenie just right for Kinger, which is why her lines are a lot crisper- and we had to use Scratch's doorframe as a reference, since neither of us were very good at drawing snouts ^^'.
The reason there's a few abstracts missing is because Kinger and Ragatha mostly wanted a memorial for their friends... Ragatha was the one to tell us to put Ribbit, Jax, and Kaufmo together, and I think Kinger might've told us about the old programmers while we worked. I can't remember if Ragatha told me or not, but I think she wanted Ribbit in the middle... looking back on it, she probably wanted her front and center because of how long she had to let them not be remembered.
It was also really nice of Zooble to get the couch up there for me! I remember it took them a few hours, and I was all nervous the whole time since it felt like too much to do for me just because my legs tended to hurt... she was a good friend. I'm glad I got to work on this with him.
Well, now that the new episode's out, I should probably lay down a few updates to my Ribbit kin memory timeline.... I think a good bit was gotten right, but there's a lot that needs tweaked.
Heavy abstraction warning (and pretty much anything triggering that happened in episode 9 warning) below the cut. Though there's no hard feelings at the end of the day, Jaxes may want to tread with caution.
Original timeline theory: I met Daisy in highschool (chemistry class), and entered the circus after seeing them driving away from their house late at night. I followed them to an abandoned building, and ended up putting on the headset. We entered at pretty much the same time and got matching avatars because of it.
We befriended Kaufmo (and Ragatha, at least on my end), and things were good for a while. Eventually, my mental health suddenly started to decline, and I fell into a bad depressive spiral. My friends tried to help, but it wasn't enough.
(End of original timeline theory)
Now, all that still feels somewhat right, but after watching episode 9... almost everything in Remember felt beat-for-beat like something that had happened, or must have happened, in my life as Ribbit. As with all kin memories, I can't be certain on anything, but... fuck. Welcoming Daisy into the circus and trying to cheer her up. The adventures before everything went bad. The running towards each other scene. The conversation in my room. How... how it happened. I don't want to believe that last one, but it. Hit so, so close to home, and... I guess it makes more sense than "I got sad one day". Not sure what that means for that one lake memory I posted a while back, but. Well.
There's a couple things that all this makes different for sure... first of all, the whole welcoming her in part was a pretty big part of our friendship to me, and it wouldn't make sense if we'd gotten there at the same time. I'm starting to think that I got there a few months earlier, and we recognized each other later. (If I'm right, it took us way longer than it should've... a few days, maybe weeks lol). There's still a possibility that real-world me was with Daisy as she was entering- but she probably would've been really confused about how I was there, given we didn't know about the whole brain scan situation yet. There's even starting to be a possibility for me that we met in the circus in the first place... but, that feels like it's scrapping too many memories my canonmate agreed with to be right.
Secondly, I might've needed to be a bit older- my parents were definitely Mormon, now that canon-me mentions it. I don't specifically remember cutting them off, but I do remember that conversation... and I wouldn't've had an anecdote to open it up with if I hadn't done that thing I regretted. Aaand I'd probably need to be on my own to cut ties with them, so... not in highschool anymore.
Thirdly, the original theory of my decline being just, "suddenly feeling depressed" probably... isn't quite right. I. Don't have any personal memories of what was shown in the show* but... what I saw felt too right to not be what happened. For lack of a better (or softer) way to put it, what happened there would... certainly be a way I'd die.
(*Except one, but it doesn't show the actual action of being pushed away... it's right before the abstraction. My thoughts line up pretty well with what happened, but it could be plenty of other things if you stretch. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of those memories got blocked off.)
Although, I do think I still had a bit of a depressive episode in there, right before it all happened- the line where me and Jax were entering my room really stuck out to me about that.
"Today's adventure was really fun."
"I'm glad I could cheer you up."
(Plain text:
"Today's adventure was really fun."
"I'm glad I could cheer you up.")
Being glad she could cheer me up... I guess that one lake memory happened, at the very least. The worst part is I think I really was doing better there. I almost wish I hadn't opened up that conversation at all, honestly. To any Jaxes and etc reading this, I know what happened wasn't... my fault, really, but I really am sorry for prying. I never meant to make you feel unsafe.
In summary, a lot for me to consider, lol. I'm... still working through a lot of stuff after all that, but. I'll put it out there that there's no hard feelings to the various Jaxes and Daisies and Jinxes and Opals and what have you around here. I... probably should have hard feelings, but mostly I'm just happy it's over. I'm happy I can be friends again. I'm relieved you wanted to reach out. It's bittersweet, but I'm not bitter about it.
I dunno. Sorry for the ramble... I wish everyone luck in this life.
There were a lot of things I remembered from this episode, but-
MY DRAWING DESK!!!!
Holy shit my drawing desk! How could I have forgotten it!!!
It was so nice to draw on,,, it made me feel like a real manga artist! I would spend hours drawing on it, all hunched over... it certainly didn't do my posture any favors, but it's where I made some of my best memories (and artworks) while I was in the circus. I'd spend a bunch of time making something there and be so excited to show Zooble once I was done...
I miss it, honestly. Maybe I'll get another one, someday ^^
