Gender is one's internal sense or self perception of being male, female, neither (agender), or somewhere between the two. Xenogenders aren't genders because that's a different part of your identity. You can identify with being an angel, but you aren't angelgender because that is a separate part of your identity

I don't really get that part. There are associations, yeah, I have associations between my gender and objects/concepts and those are a large part of my perception of my gender, but the objects/concepts aren't the entirety of that identity. I just don't really understand how an object or concept can be the entirety of someone's gender identity because that goes against the definition of what gender identity is, and gender identity is an actual real life phenomenon that is inherent to humans and not a social construct or made up. So. If there's an explanation that exists for that I'd like to know it. Also as a neurodivergent myself (adhd and moderate support needs autism), I think it's really insulting to insist that neurodivergent people can't understand their gender identities (or the definition of what that is) beyond a noun or concept. That statement implies that we (or a lot of us) are incapable of having, conceptualizing, or understanding an identity beyond association with objects or concepts, which is a new way of calling us stupid and insinuating we aren't self aware

I mean, the statement by itself is implying that neurodivergent people are less self aware. Intention is entirely irrelevant, to me, cause the statement itself is inherently implying that neurodivergent people are often less able to conceptualize their gender identity as its own separate thing from other objects and concepts (and thus unable to understand their own identity as its own thing, and therefore less self aware). That's just simply what that statement is saying and there's not really any arguing with that.

I don't see how an object or concept can be so deeply linked to one's gender identity as to be a label for it at all. Association is association, but just because I associate rain with tin roofs doesnt mean it makes any sense to say it's going to tin roof today. I would get it if it was in the context of "this is my gender" over a couple pictures of a specific aesthetic because that aesthetic is how that person perceives and experiences their gender (an identity separate from the aesthetic itself), but ones gender being so deeply linked to an object or concept as to become synonymous with it just isn't really how gender identity works. Because gender identity is one's internal sense of being male, female, neither, or a mix of both, it's pretty much nonsensical for that to be associated with an object or concept so strongly that the two become synonymous. Which is why I say that that association is a separate part of your identity and not your gender or a part of your gender. There's a huge difference between "this object or concept is a part of how I perceive and experience my gender identity" and "this object or concept IS (a part of) my gender identity" and that distinction is very important
