“Good!“ Arke laughed, “If we can show the Master that we can grow on our own, then maybe he’ll finally let us off this world.“ He replied, and then stroked his chin, “We definitely need to work on our Magic, but our core could also use work… so some sparring would be beneficial too.“ 

As Arke spoke, Nova walked over and picked up one of the wooden Keyblades that had been thrown aside, “Core training is boring! Let’s go visit a Hologram World!” He slung the wooden Keyblade over his shoulder as if mimicking his older brother, “Fighting Heartless is more fun than each other!” “Training is not a game, Nova.“ Arke slowly shook his head, “You have to take it seriously! Fighting Heartless in the Hologram Worlds is training us for the real thing, so you need to start treating it like the real thing.“  “Hey! I totally do!“ Nova retorted, “I take training real seriously!“

Arke somehow doubted that. Which was why he was usually reluctant to let his little brother train with him… not just because he treated it like a game, but also because he’d rather Nova not train at all. He didn’t have a Keyblade like they did, so as far as he saw it, Nova didn’t even need to train. 

He turned to look at Solei, “I vote on Core Training. We could afford to work on our Magic and strength.”  “Hey! We can ‘core train’ in the Holograms!“ Nova complained. He also turned to look at Solei too, “Right Solei?“

Arke made some good points, but...Magic training was always awful....But if she wanted to be let off world sooner, maybe magic training would show their master she was serious about this. But at the same time, they should be allowed to have fun with their training while their master was off world.

“Arke has good points, a lot of good points...But I want to do a hologram world too...”She hesitated. Making a face as she debated if she was really planning on putting off what she needed training on any time the master was away...It really did make her sound like a slacker....She sighed,”Let’s....compromise. It’s still pretty early, right? Let’s do.... core training for the rest of the morning, break for lunch, and spend the afternoon in a hologram world?” Her face was scrunched up as she suggested her plan.

Nova opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say anything, a voice called out from the entrance to the Temple. 

“Hey!“ 

Nova jumped, and whirled around, just in time to see his older brother, Arke, approaching them. Arke had a slight smirk on his face, and already had his keyblade out, and draped over his shoulder. He approached the other two with a dedicated stride, “And here I thought you were going to slack off all day again.” “Well, not all day.“ Nova grinned. 

“Well,“ He looked at the two of them, “Since we’re all here, why don’t we get some training in before the Master returns?“  “I’m game!” Nova quipped. 

Which, seemed to surprise Arke, which of course, caused Nova to laugh. He folded his hands behind his head as Arke gave him an approving smile.  Arke then of course, turned towards Solei to get her approval. 

“You have to ask?”She summoned her keyblade, swinging it through the empty air before resting it on her shoulder’s mirroring Arke,”Why would I be here if not to train?”

“What did you have in mind? Sparring? Holograms?”She hoped he wouldn’t say magic training.

“Not yet.“ Nova whined. He jogged over to meet her, “Jeez! What’s keeping that Geezer so long? I know he can go off sometimes, but never this long!“

He looked around the empty Training Grounds that nested outside the Temple. It looked quiet and dull without the Master there.

“Then why are you here?”She teased,”Shouldn’t you be slacking off or something?” She finished pulling her hair up, having almost forgotten to do that in her shock at seeing the younger apprentice here. 

“He’ll be back eventually, don’t worry,”She said, patting Nova’s head,”Being a Keyblade Master is important work, he can’t just stay in this world all the time.”

“I wish he’d let us come too sometimes though....”

((I definitely have been misspelling Soleil as Solei this entire time oops. Now the question is, do i keep the misspelling or switch it now...hnnn...))

It was another bright, sunny day on Asier Cordula. Once again, the weather was perfect. The temperature was comfortable, and the breeze as just strong enough to cool one’s face, and sway the cherry trees above. Their pink blossoms that seemed to bloom year round danced in the breeze and fluttered down on the sleepy little, feudal style town below. Nova couldn’t remember a single day when the weather wasn’t perfect, or the day wasn’t calm. It was like Asier Cordula was stuck in an eternal spring. 

Normally, Nova didn’t have time to enjoy the warmth of the afternoon sun though. Usually, he was busy training with the others at the Training Grounds. But every now and again, Master Asho would leave the world, and that meant a miniature holiday for him! Without Master Asho directing him, it meant he could slip off and relax before Arke found him and chastised him for slacking off. 

But… Master Asho had been gone for awhile now, and sleeping the afternoon away at the top of a hill was getting boring. So, instead of slipping away today, he decided to try and track down Soleil, and see if she had anything interesting going on. 

So today, he decided to stay around the Temple, and wait for Soleil to appear.

He didn’t have to wait long. Even when their master was off world, she would show up at the temple to train. She would just train what she wanted rather than what she was told to, and maybe have some shorter training sessions in general. While the cat’s away she did want to play, after all. 

She knew her training alone didn’t give her as much growth as when she was given instruction, but she felt it was important to try her best anyway. Especially with how hesitant Master Asho was to let her train under him in the first place. She wanted to prove that he made the right decision giving her a chance!

So, every morning, she pulled herself out of bed, grabbed some toast, and headed out. As much as she loved how pretty and scenic her home was, she always felt like something was missing while she was there. Like there was more she was meant to see, to do. But it was hard to focus on that this early. Especially, when the nice weather made her want to nap. Instead of jogging to the temple like she usually does, she’s been taking the opportunity just stroll, and get there a few minutes later.

Solei finally reached the temple, yawning as she passed through the gates. She stopped when she saw Nova, half way through pulling her hair up into a side tail, and couldn’t stop herself from asking,”Is Master Asho back?” Why else would Nova be around here?

Bored. She was so bored. Nova and Arke were both stuck doing something for Master Asho, so she couldn’t hang out with them...Maybe she could do with a bit of training on her own. And since she would be on her own, she wouldn’t feel pressured to practice magic!

“Doesn’t today feel like a great day?” She said as her way of greeting the stranger. “Like something great is right around that corner,” She pointed in a random direction, but then seemed to change her mind and pointed in a different direction. “Or that corner. Some corner.”

A new world! There was something amazing about this place, but that may just be the excitement talking. Solei stared at the unfamiliar buildings rather than paying attention to where she was going as she explored. While she was distracted, she ended up running into someone. She stumbled backwards to regain her balance. 

“I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention,”She chuckled sheepishly,”I’m new in town, and just got all caught up in everything.”

Arke let his own keyblade disappear, and followed behind her. He was so tired that he barely noticed his younger brother tail along beside him.

He had worked up quite the sweat today. As usual, Master did not go easy on them. But Solei was right… if it’s what it took, it’s what it took, “I just wish we had some real targets to train against.” He leaned back against a large cherry tree after they came to a stop, “I was thinking about going back to the Hologram Worlds… but…” It was a hard choice… going back to train more, or spend some time with Solei and Nova…

Nova, on the other hand, looked like he had just gone on a light jog, and not endured hours of training, and stood beside Arke with a bright grin, “Oh! We should totally do something fun!” His arm shot up into the air, “My vote’s on the lake!” 

How did he still have energy, Arke will never know. But swimming was not high on his agenda after such a long day of training, “That’s a rather far hike though.”  “So?” Nova replied. He grinned, and crossed his arms, “What better way to cool down after a good training session, than to soak in the lake? And at this time of year, the surface is probably covered in petals!” 

He ran over to close the distance between himself and Solei, “What’cha think Solei? Wanna go to the lake?” 

Arke couldn’t help but smirk, and he closed his eyes. Nova knew how to get him to do anything. He knew that he’d agree with Solei, no matter what her decision was… even if they were both probably exhausted. Whatever… Arke was just going to assume that because Nova didn’t have a Keyblade, and therefore didn’t take Training as seriously, he was still full of energy.

“I wish we had real opponents too...But there are no Heartless in this world. And we shouldn’t wish for any. I do wish we can go out and hunt some down though.”

“The lake!” She perked up at the idea,”Yeah! A swim would be perfect! Especially in this weather,” And by swim, she means splashing around and playing. “Nova’s right!  C’mon, Arke, It’s two against one!” She grabbed his hand and started heading towards the lake.

After? Training

By the time training was over for the day, Solei was panting. She let her keyblade fade away as she thanked Master Asho politely for teaching her. Looking over to her friends, she tilted her head in a ‘follow me’ motion before heading away from the training grounds. She waited until she was sure she was out of earshot of their Master before saying,”Uuugh, The old man pushed us hard today, didn’t he? And this is what it takes to explore other places? Man...” She stood up a little straighter and turned to the pair,”C’mon, we should do something fun! We have the rest of the afternoon, right?”
