“Dropping bags of groceries is probably the worst. Not quite as bad as when the bags rip, but still just as bad.” he laughed slightly at the other male’s story and he shook his head. “Oh man, that sucks!” he laughed. “I’m sorry, but that’s terrible.”

Rafe was fine if Kylan laughed, because it was honestly a funny story to him. 

“Groceries are pretty bad but man, this was in HIGH SCHOOL. I swear that it has now become a running joke with all of my friends that I broke my backback because of my “muscles”.” Rafe joked. “But other than the bag falling, how have you been?”

“Yeah, eveything’s fine. I just picked up a few things and dropped every bag on the ground back there.” he shrugged. “Thank you for checking in though.”

“Well, I just want you to know that I know the pain of dropping all your stuff one the floor,” Rafe smiled kindly “I was once walking around campus at school and I had the bottom of my backpack rip. Probably the worst day of my life.”

“I’m okay! Thank you for the concern!” Balo smiles, “I kind of tripped, you know, it happens.” Sure her knees were all cut up, falling on the sidewalk in shorts wasn’t the best situation, but she’d be okay.

“Well, if I see somebody who got hurt i guess it;s my instinct telling me to help them.” Rafe said with a smile. “If you need, I have a few gauze pads and bandages in my bag I could help you clean up the scrapes.” It wasn’t a bad thing to be nice. Obviously being kind was more helpful than being a total jerk right?

“Woah, are you okay? It seemed pretty rough back there. If you need any help I’m always right here.”

“I just did not get to talk to you much in the party so here I am now. How have you been?”

“Honestly, I’ve been pretty good myself. How have you and Oliver been doing? Lots of planning I’m guessing.”

Even though Rose had been forced to choose chemistry instead of soccer she still loved it. Smiling as she reached an old soccer field near the elementary school, the girl took out the soccer ball out of her bag and started to practice her shooting. There was no controversy she was good. She had gotten the opportunity to go to the University of Portland for relatively nothing so that she would play soccer there. She just kept kicking the ball in different ways into the net until she heard someone walk up behind her. “I have actually no idea if I’m allowed to be out here. So, if I need to move I can, ” Rose said with the shrug of her shoulders picking up the ball that lay at her feet.

Rafe wandered around being kind of bored and all, maybe he’d find someone to talk to. He always did have that luck after all. After a bit he decided to to go to a field so he could run some laps. Upon arriving he saw a pretty girl playing soccer. Once she turned around he replied with, “I’m pretty sure you’re fine here. Then again younger kids come here all of the time.” Rafe glanced at her. She truly was good at the sport. “How did you learn to play so well? I doubt that I’d ever be able to play that good.”

“Yeah,” Grace nodded. “I wanted to do something like a scrapbook or that kind of thing. I want to collect some of Oliver’s photos and I was wondering if you don’t have any interesting pieces from the time when you two were kids?"

Rafe turned, “Yeah, my mom collected a book of photos from when him, Sofia and I were young. If you want I could make some copies of them for you. At about what age do you want him to be in the photos?”

“So, you wanted yo talk to me about something? What was it exactly?”

“I can’t remember saying anything about you…Who are you again? I’m Francesca, Grace’s mother.”

“Oh, don’t worry that’s fine, I'm Rafe. You obviously know Oliver correct? Well, I’m his cousin. I think we met once or twice.”

“Since the fifth grade? That sounds rough and now I’m curious what set it off. Was it some little menace that stole your crayons and tripped you on the playground? That happened to me all in one day when I was in sixth grade and I've been crying nonstop in my head ever since.”

“That’s super close to what happened though. Some kid was being rude to me and I sorta told on him being the angry little kid I was. As retaliation the kid took my colored pencils and slapped me in the face. As I grew up though I became more calm than my younger self. Would you need a hug after crying for all that time?”

“I think it’s hilarious when people tell me that I’m laid back because I've pretty much been screaming nonstop in my head since like, I don’t know maybe fifth grade.”

Matt dug his toes into the sand, the warm breeze hitting his face as he took some deep breaths with the waves softly crashing. Even if he was hesitant about coming to the bonfire, he knew he wouldn’t hear the end of it from some people, so he just sat in the sand to relax as best as he could. Before he knew it, there was someone sitting near him and speaking. He almost jumped, startled, but he kept his cool. “Y-yeah, me neither,” he replied, even though it was a lie. He hardly went to the bonfires or parties–mostly because he wouldn’t be invited to them, but whatever. “Are you from out of town?” he asked.

Rafe turned to see who he was talking to exactly and swore that he knew who it was. “Hey, every now and then it is good to go to a party right? Espcially if it is a friend or family member.” he added. who was this person though? Did he go to school with Oliver or something else? “Oh, no I’ve stayed here working. I can’t even say that I traveled at all in the past two years. How about you? Been anywhere interesting or notable?”

The air was warm, and Delaney always seemed to find herself in a good mood. Plus, talking to people was never really hard for her. So, if there was someone to talk to, she’d probably take them immediately up on that offer. She smiled when the boy replied, her nose wrinkling slightly. She nodded at him, making her mahogany hair bouncing lightly with her motion. “I did. I moved to Rhode Island a year after high school and now I do real estate over there, Now, I’m back for the wedding. I couldn’t say no when Grace asked me to be one of her bridesmaid. Did you leave too?”

“Well, I can’t say that I have traveled out of the country or traveled at all for the most part. I heard Rhode Island is actually extremely pretty. Anything that you want to say about it specifically?” Rafe wished he could travel a bit more, sure Santa Monica was pretty and all but visiting new places was always good. “Just so I don’t mix you up with anyone else, what is your name? I’m Raphael but you can just call me Rafe if you want.” he added. Was this girl friends with Oliver or was she a friend of Grace? Probably Grace’s to be honest. Rafe had already met all of Oliver’s friends so it couldn’t be them.

Delaney was sitting on a large log stuck in the sand. It hadn’t exactly sunk in that she was back yet. It almost didn’t feel real to her. But, seeing the beach and so many familiar faces seemed to push her more into that happy reality that she was indeed home. She was writing her name in the sand with a stick when she heard someone speak to her. “Me either. I mean, I haven’t been home in general in quite some time, but being here is rather nice.” She turned to face the other with a small smile.

The bonfire was beginning to seem very fun, especially when people would go up to speak to him. It made him smile. As he heard someone reply he looked their way. He noticed it was a girl who looked a couple of years older than him. Rafe could have sworn that he’s seen her somewhere but maybe he was just mixing her up with someone else. “You said that it’s great to be back, that means that you’ve left California? Where have you gone?” Maybe this would help trigger a memory of where he’s seen her face before.
