Never Forget the Reign of Terror waged against Muslims (and by extension, Sikhs profiled as being Muslim) in the nearly two decades following 9/11.
serenely contemplating this image which purports to decode the political roots of radical aesthetics & noting calmly that literally the only one which has ever been primarily a radical scene is the one on there as a joke (ska)

It kind of majorly sucks that able-bodied artists can draw mobility aids, prosthetics, or body differences wrong/incorrect (with a lack of research and understanding of the basic mechanics) and they get praise for “trying” while they are representing something that isn’t theirs to “mess up”. Does this make sense?
I feel like, disabled artists are much more likely to play with the concepts of the aids, disabilities, etc because they already have the basic understanding of the fundamentals of it all. But able-bodied people don’t. Until they have the knowledge, it really isn’t their place to incorrectly portray disability (aids, people, etc), because instead of artistic interpretation it’s just… ignorance?
Don’t get me wrong, I very much appreciate people trying to add representation and diversity in their art, but they have to be respectful while they do it, and part of the respect is the bare minimum of a google search.
I want to add — the reason this is so upsetting is because disabled artists always get scrutinized and we have to constantly feel like people are always tearing into us when we represent OUR OWN disorders. But then able-bodied people do it wrong, and then get praise? It doesn’t make sense.
i think we should abolish the term middle east
like i know ive said this before but it is so incredibly eurocentric because its literally a reference to its relative location to europe. and because this definition is so alienated from its actual geographical context you have people genuinely believing the middle east somehow transcends continents and doesn’t exist in asia. there are so many disputes over which countries are middle eastern and which aren’t because the entire thing is an imprecise way of grouping different cultures together by white people who think we’re a monolith anyway and this could all be avoided if we just use the term southwest asia and break free of europes influence over brown people.
Good luck in your 'new life', friend.
I'm a survivor of the terror attacks who lived 4 blocks east of the World Trade Center. I lost my home that day, spent years homeless and destitute, and I carry a Zadroga Act diagnosis of 9/11-connected PTSD. If anyone who's doing this RP needs character coaching or if you need help with authentic scenarios, I'm available for consulting services at reasonable rates. DM me here or leave your number on the men's room wall at any leather bar and it'll get to me in 24 hours. Happy 9/11 y'all, and remember fireworks are unsafe and illegal in most jurisdictions.

At first Netflix said, come write for us. We’ll save your cancelled shows and write about whatever niche story you want. Our algorithm says people will watch it!
Then a few years later they said, regardless of our promises or contract obligations we are cancelling shows after two seasons without telling anyone. Turns out no matter how loved a show is, we get less subscriptions after the second season.
How many subscriptions did we bring you? Netflix won’t say.
So writers started writing two season shows. Just give us two seasons, Netflix. Like you promised.
Then Netflix said, oops sorry! Turns out your show didn’t premiere at #1 and the views in the first day weren’t what we wanted so we’re cancelling your second season.
What were the numbers? How many people watched our show? Netflix doesn’t say.
Then, they did something extra special. They started taking shows and splitting their first season into two halves. Inside Job was not two seasons. It was one season split in half.
Oops! Sorry! The second half of your first season didn’t do as well as the first half, so now your show is cancelled!
Why? How many people? How much money? These companies are making cash hand over fist and they refuse to tell people the truth: people loved your show. Loved it. But some corpo exec wanted an infinite money making machine. Do you know how long shows are in production for before you watch them? Years. Like, 5+, even 10+ years. And Netflix gives it less than a week before they decide whether you’re getting cancelled.

But there is no queer Indian identity without queer Indians living in India
There is no queer progress in India without queer Indians fighting for it
Knowing that trans women of color started the movement in the united states and were literally immediately erased and excluded from what they started is the most deeply jading knowledge.
It is the original sin of the so-called queer community and it damns it from the cradle.

Without Stonewall, without the efforts of Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, the LGBTQ Community wouldn’t be where it is today. Don’t forget the roots, don’t forget the catalyst.
and then TERFs wanna be like, “hmm well the LGBT community existed before Stonewall!”
but like…Becky, of course LGBTQ+ people existed before Stonewall. We’ve all existed since the beginning of time. But the movement got a shock to its senses, a jump-start, a rocket-into-space when that glass shattered via Marsha P. Johnson, and when Sylvia Rivera was up on-stage protesting guess who was on the sidelines heckling her?
The same fuckers who won’t ever reblog or acknowledge this
My apologies to the original poster as I photo captured this post to add to the thread-I reposted this last year for pride and expect to repost it every year I have left-it’s our history people.
Marsha P. Johnson allegedly died of suicide in 1992, and her death was never investigated. Even I, a mere prole, could catch the “she was murdered” vibes from the circumstances surrounding the discovery of her body.
Without a trans black woman, LGBT+ rights would not exist. Never forget. Never “pay it no mind”.
