HE LEANS FURTHER AWAY the closer he gets, nose scrunching in distaste. He can tell when he's being buttered up; and H.D barely puts in the effort to hide it. The clear reference H.D makes flies right over his head, his mouth disappearing with a pause to follow as he tries to figure it out. He comes up entirely short. In an attempt to save his pride, he decides to skim over it entirely.

SMOKING IS A BAD HABIT. He knows this - but it's a habit none the less, and it's one he hasn't been able to drop. The taste is bitter, but the odd sense of nostalgia he gets with each pull makes it worth it; he's likely known this brand just as long as the man who first introduced him to it, by now. Smoke rises from his vents; he hates to think of what the inside of his casing must look like by now, but he's already past his prime anyways, isn't he?
HE DOESN'T REALIZE HE HAS COMPANY until he spots her out of the corner of his vision, coughing in surprise at the smoke he failed to properly exhale. The cigarette in question is thrown to the side somewhere, extinguished with a quick grind of his heel as he tries to play it off.
"HEEEELLLLLOOOO!!! If it isn't our most HONORED GUEST...! I wasn't doing anything back here, just.. taking a second to get some fresh air..! Did you need anything? Water? NON-GLOOBY SLIME?"
i think a lot about how tennas fangs + claws only really come out when he's angry because like. it's not even a feature you'd know he has despite the fact those are things i imagine he would just Always Have? but they only show up in sprites when he's upset. it gives me the impression he sort of tries to hide them, and to me... i think he just wants to appear as like. friendly/approachable/harmless as possible. professional as well and he already cant hide his emotions enough as it is ( literally shrinks + grows based on how he feels and the flower that grows out of his nose ) so he's like don't worry that only happens with silly stuff. this + my silly plug tail headcanon but i think he hides it... him and susie are the same in this

UNLIKE DECEMBER, Gaster does not have the pleasure of leaving the void for outings, dark world or otherwise. It is used to being alone, left to wait while the events outside proceed without his involvement - but for once, its waiting had gained a purpose; one newly shone upon him by THE SOUL. With how rare direct communication is, it's presence and constant curiosity is the longest form of contact he's had in a very, very long time.
WHILE DESS' APPEARANCE IS.... UNFORTUNATE, it is certainly not unwelcome. To become trapped here implies a terrible enough fate of its own; he finds no reason to be unpleasant to those suffering with him. Especially not when they work towards such a similar goal. He offers her a small wave once she is noticed, a smile, and a signed greeting.
"HELLO, DECEMBER. HOW IS PROGRESS ON THE ROARING?"
.. how is it that even in the void, it is still doomed to watch over children in some form?

HE WASN'T SURE HOW TO APPROACH KRIS ANYMORE. It was Kris - in theory, it shouldn't be that hard. In practice.... he isn't exactly sure where the two of them stand. The extent of their deal had already played out - even if the results were.. questionable in their success...? And in general? But still, it's not like he can just ask - the whole point had been not to talk about it! Even if he'd technically already lost his home viewer base in the end anyways, it still felt.. wrong, to go against his end of the bargain. He'd already had one deal fall through, and he couldn't lose Kris too.
SO, SEEING AS Kris was visiting again, when could be a better time to try and catch up?
"KRIS! IF IT ISN'T just the LIGHTNER I was looking for! I understand that you're busy, with.. things, but I was just wondering how the HUNT was going? You know, for finding me a new HOME? Not that there's any rush! Just, um - if, if you have some down time.. I still have that fighting game you and your BROTHER used to play!
