It is, by all means, an attack. One unprovoked; Negan simply standing and stretching after doodling or whatever on his papers for what felt like a few decades to Luce. Granted, the weapon had been quiet and even behaved for the better part of an hour, set on the floor a few steps away from Negan’s desk and entertaining himself with the pictures in encyclopedias. Every once in a while a page would be torn and set in a pile -- one that Luce would later present to Negan with a child-like innocence, demanding to be shown the contents in person. Animals, certain objects. Places. Luce had a collection of things that he wanted, but he was usually turned down due to the world being very over or the fact that they were stuck on a particular chunk of land. Today he’s found interest in some kind of horse that had a neck that was taller than some trees. Luce preferred small animals usually -- things that made him feel taller than he was, but this animal seemed so ridiculous that he just had to see one. At least there was grass in the pictures with them rather than snow like the ones with the fat flappy birds. Penguins. Apparently they only lived in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere and Negan had doubted any were alive in any zoos anymore. Bullshit, really.But his stack of things is forgotten when Negan stands and that band of skin is revealed above his belt -- well, the main one of many. Luce lunges from his spot, face colliding with skin as he suddenly blows a great huff of air against it. A proper raspberry, no doubt --- something that Luce had both discovered and become fascinated by, lately. The point was to tickle Negan, to get him laughing -- but truth be told its Luce who can’t hold his amusement for the human ritual in.To be there, laughing over something so simple -- so stupid, its almost easy to forget what he is.

an important headcanon

so i have had it in my head for a long time that luce is something thousands of years old. that he has always been something used in times of war, something terrible that could turn even the most helpless of tides. in the past he was sated -- kept sleeping until used, more or less, with human sacrifice. often. in modern times he was kept and ‘fed’ off the blood of humans unknowingly -- by extra samples being taken during blood-draws worldwide. luce was kept secret, kept sleeping, and kept full but when the world ended he slithered out into the world.  there are rules to him; he has to be wielded by a human. he has to have a contract, more or less. and he has this with negan. i don’t know all the details besides that luce gets to be the one that kills/eats him when his time is up. i’ll elaborate on this more soon.

the human is still sore over the whole thing and it has annoyance tested at every step, every second where rick’s shoulder and voice were cold towards him. he didn’t even remember what they had tasted like -- not really; they weren’t anything special. they deserved what happened to them and he --- oh, he deserved the sacrifice. deserved every single one and yet grimes doesn’t understand even now. it’d been terribly frustrating to come without negan, to have the man out of his sight, but rick ...
