Me (what I really mean): you fools. I am plugged into the mainframe, wired to the primary source. Of course have seen that meme, and all 5000 of it's variants, 3 and a half months ago. I have seen the rise and fall of that meme, the boom and bust, the drama, the pain, the shitposting, oh god, the shitposting. I have seen this meme in it's rawest, freshest, unpasturised, most primal state. Do not insult me with these rank, stale puddles, that sit at the very base of the meme trickle down economy.

I know Mamrie Hart doesn’t need my help to sell books. But I snagged a galley of her upcoming You Deserve a Drink at a meeting yesterday and, though I’ve never watched a video of hers in my life, am totally, absolutely in love. And I have to talk about it. This is a smart, funny, and most importantly, realistic book about what it’s like to have grown up in the 90s (in this book exists the line “allow me to explain Glamour Shots”) and “making it” in a non-traditional path after college. I read a lot of books like this, but it’s not often that I read one that is so blunt and clever and dotted with useful anecdotal advice.

Plus, it includes drink recipes in every chapter! Def making one (or two or three) this weekend.

I’m only about a third of the way through, but I already know I love this book. It reminds me of two part’s Katie Heaney’s Never Have I Ever, one part Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? and a splash of Amy Poehler’s Yes Please. (See, I can do cocktail jokes, too!)

Anyway, this is out 5/26/15 from Plume as a paperback original, and you should probably go preorder it right now.

Hey literallymatt! I need you to know that I'm currently on a mission to make you my actual BFF. In that spirit - here are MY awesome things of the week!

1. Electra Woman/Grace Helbig/Dyna Girl/Hannah Hart - If nothing else, let's just appreciate the fanfic! It's literally an AU writer's dream and I'm sure the series is going to be glorious, but there's just SO MUCH potential spin off to be appreciated here.

2.#TheDress - Am I over it? Yes. Did it cause serious debate amongst my friend group/colleages? Yes. Did I feel horrible about myself for disagreeing with Taylor Swift, even if it was only this one time? YES!!! But...was it fun to geek out over something weird on the internet with people who usually don't care about weird things on the internet?? 100% absolutely...YES!!! Great night.

3. House. Of. Cards. - I have no commentary. You know. YOU KNOW!

4. Skinny Girl Margarita Mix - Because if that isn't the easiest way to get a little drunk, I don't know what is.

5. Plans to see your parents - Parents are kind of an uncool topic. But they are also wonderful people who literally molded me into the person I am today and I love and miss them. So...a ticket (that they PAID for, btw) to see them?? Yes, please!!

6. The preview for the new Frozen short! - Because I am always 7 and because I also have to just continue to gloat that the most successful animated movie of all time is about 2 chicks and ALSO because I've decided in my mind that a new Idina Menzel song will be a part of this experience.
