Lana and Ryland dating before the launch breaking up a year before the launch both of them being sent on the misson and forgetting the love they had and have for eachother and after the misson settles they fall in love together remembering their relationship slowly all of the soft fluffy things slowly tracking their relationship until they both remember the end of it - Ryland had asked Lana not to go not to let herself die let her double take her place and Lana calls him selfish it was clear from the start she wasnt going to change her mind.

Lana got onto the project hail mary not knowing Ryland was forced to go . She goes on the ship and suddenly the fears the selfishness that she fought with Ryland over filled her as she saw her love with her on the same suicide mission as her she kisses his sleep pod before getting into one after .

They talk they mend and they are stronger together for it nothing stopping them besides surviving the trip to Erid together.

When Lana woke for the artificial day set by the ship the last thing she wanted to feel was twisting pain in her gut and a sharp ache in her lower back.

" Damn itt" Lana groaned softly and curled in on herself refusing to open her eyes for a minute.

" Lana hurt question- Rocky Fix fix fix " The Eridians voice made Lana jump which only made her back hurt worse. She let out a soft whine before taking a deep breath,

" Im fine Rock normal thing for human girls - go find Grace please?" Lana asked gently pushing her self up and calling out to armondo for water and pain killers.

" yes I go find Grace you rest " Rocky said and quickly ran along the tunnels of his xenonite side of the ship. Lana let out a soft chuckle and took the medicine before reaching down to her duffle by her bed pulling out a couple pads and heading to the bathroom. Grace and Lana had asked Rocky for a sound proof wall around this area for privacy sake and Lana was very greatful to Rocky for his building work.

She walked back to her bunk and smiled at Grace who was explaining menstruation to Rocky with more and more exasperation. Lana chuckled sitting down,

" bottom line Rock its normal it happens or is supposed to happen every month though mine has always been irregular and became more so with the stress of everything- but I am okay and once this medicine kicks in I can get to work just need-"

" No no no Grace say Lana bleed Lana say normal but does not mean it okay Lana rest rest rest !" Rocky huffed making Lana laugh softly. Grace rolled his eyes patting the top of Rockys Xenonite shell.

" It is ultimately her choice rock but ," Grace looks to Lana " If you need to rest me and Rocky have things handled in the lab we can take turns watching you sleep to" Grace explained a hand on his hip and his glasses a bit askew on his face .

" Yes yes yes Grace Rocky watch sleep " Rocky said nodding his carapace , a gesture he no doubt picked up from Lana and Grace, Lana sighed.

" How about I sleep for a little extra and then I work ?" Lana asks already starting to lay back down.

" Good good good rest Rocky watch Grace work on taumeba samples" Rocky said his compurtized voice seemingly pleased and Grace nodded.

" let me know if you need anything then - " A yawn cuts Grace off and Rocky stomps his foot before pushing Grace to his bunk

" both sleeeepp annoying stupid when not sleep Rocky watch both " Rocky huffed out and Grace rolled his eyes.

" Fine bud okay stop pushing Rock " Grace said laying down his bunk Rocky gave Grace a thumbs up , though of course it was pointed down, and headed back through the air lock to his side of the ship. He grabbed some work to tinker with and settled down watching both his human friends sleep both of them letting out soft snores soon enough.

Aria liked working alone, she could work with people but didnt prefer it. That rang all the truer when she joined the patrova taskforce as one of the astronauts and as one of the docotrs working to perfect to coma assiting robot. The other Doctors Aria was forced to work with were pompus, mean, and couldnt agree on anything. So she did most of her work in the lab at night researching and sketching out different models to show Stratt.

Her headphones were pressed close to her head as music blared through them which would be why she missed Doctor Ryland Grace entering the lab for some late work alone. Ryland stood in the door way for a minute debating on staying or going, Aria and him never talked much but Ryland couldn't really tell if Aria was fond of him or not. Still he straightened up and walked into the lap sitting down at a station near Aria. They both worked in complet science. Well that wasnt true the soft bumps and beats to Arias music reached Rylands ears through her head phones. She still has yet to notice him absorbed in her work. Ryland didnt realize he was staring until Aria looked up and startled at the other man being there, she quickly pulled her headphones off.

" When did you get here ?" She asked her voice a bit rough with disuse Ryland fiddled with his pen.

" not too long ago I didnt mean to startle you.. are you working on the medical robot ?" Ryland said and looked over at Arias notes seeing the sketches he smiled.

" Cool drawings - can I see them ?" Ryland asked Aria paused before carefully handing them over.

" i dont work well with the other doctors so my plan is do it myself and go overhead to Stratt and show it to her " Aria explained and Ryland nodded looking over the drawings.

" Well you are doing a good job if you need any help I can try and figure it out with you though Im in a different feild of study " Ryland said continuing to study the drawing Aria smiled.

" Ill keep that in mind Doctor Grace ." She said returning to her work leaving her ear facing Ryland exposed while the other was once again covered by her headphones.

They worked in calm quietness no need for talking no pressure to be " normal" just allowed to be and work. Safe to say Ryland joined Aria on her late night lab work more often after that.

Aria is on the ace spectrum and very rarely looks for that kind of intimacy with Ryland and Ryland doesnt mind at all. That part of a relationship have never been a big thing for him either and when they finally have this conversation together Aria falls even more in love with Ryland, she can show him her deepest anxieties and he tries and sooths them or offers a distraction. Ryland of course knows Aria will do the same for him as she has shown him that truth many times as both of them were stuck on the Hail Mary together. They are so comfortable with eachother and I like to think about it alot.

Aria is my self insert and I use her to cope with alot of things my ace identity is one of them since I am not sure in it but being able to explore is safely in my own writing and in fanfiction helps a lot and is a great comfort.

It had only been a couple hours since the death of DuBois and Shapiro the news had hit Aria hard it had it all of them hard. The fear of a vital misson at risk of not happing and the remourse for the lives pointlessly lost. But in the moment a new horror dawned on Aria.

Doctor Ryland Grace was their only option to have a fully qualified and trained scienctest on bord and the man clearly didnt want to go.

" You are the most capable Doctor Grace we have no one else ." Stratt spoke her voice could be mistaken as cold if not for the slight strain of emotion in it. Ryland threw his hands up-

" But you do - you have a list of people with the gene and the knowledge I am not the only one !" He explained his voice raising with fear. Yao shook his head and looked from Grace to Stratt,

" I will have no one aboard this misson against their will, we will find someone else." Yaos words seemed to calm Grace just a bit as Stratt pressed her lips into a fine line. Aria looks at Grace then the table before pushing her glasses up and reaching over to Grace gently taking his hand- they had become something close to friends over the years of work on this misson though this was the first time Aria touched him on purpose.

" Grace please - we cant let this misson fail you wont be alone up there you wont die alone or without dignity " Aria pleaded with Grace. The man moved his hand out of Arias grasp and rubbed his face.

" i - Can- can i think about it ?" He said weakly and Aria nodded.

" Of course-"

" You have three hours to decide Doctor Grace I trust you will make the right choice " Stratt voice echoed with finality. Aria cut her eyes from Grace swallowing down her words the taste of them making her stomach churn.

The feeling of guilt and anxiety didnt lessen even when she watched as Grace was loaded onto the ship unconscious. The only thing that kept her sane was that she knew Grace wouldn't wake up alone.
